anakins motivation was saving those he cared about, vaders motivation was forgetting anakins inevitable failures, only luke asking for a savior could bring back anakin.

Imagine this fight remade with prequel-level choreography.

Probably one of the most powerful, evocative sound tracks in all of SW. A son fights against his father and ultimately defeats him. All captured in a wonderful piece of music. A masterpiece.

I like to think the chanting chorus represents all the Jedi killed by Vader,as they haunt him at what could be his end or his redemption

Father vs Son. The son that loved his father; the father that couldn't let go of the love that his son that had for him. His redemption.

His son's love for him is what saved him.

The father that what did what right to save his son.

That scream before he starts fighting, the whole time Luke has been fighting defensively, but in this moment he unleashes everything. The irony is: it's the same trap Vader fell for, his love of his family and his desire to protect them, lead him to anger and rage, but unlike Anakin, Luke was strong enough to turn away.

The skywalker series was here and now when luke started his journey and in the end, he redeemed anakin by the truth of love he had for his father. Return of the jedi was the true ending. Plus, the real luke skywalker doesn't abdicate and renounces his decision to reform the jedi order just because his nephew turned. Jacen solo turned to ceadus and luke still commenced to protect his new culture and protect his own son

Each time I watched this my heart would yearn for Anakin. Even now as I listen to it I feel Anakin being called back to the LIGHT. May the FORCE be with you always. Thank you for this.😀

I love the song, but the artwork is stupid as hell. Luke is ready to kick some ass and Vader is to focused on how pretty his lightsaber looks 🤦🏻‍♂️

I love this movie, series, saga, franchise, whatever you want to call it. I love it because, and I’m tearing up right now as I think about it, but it’s a piece of art that takes not good vs evil like every franchise and piece of art before it does, but a father vs son aspect. My own father and I have had disagreements. I used to hide under bed because I was scared of him, but then as an adult, I stood up to him against his shit against my mom, and then it inspired me to stand up to evil even in my friends life against his (what I perceived evil dad.) Before I lose my shit and before I become too much of a pussy, thank you Star Wars, George Lucas, and everyone else for giving strength throughout the years with this franchise and scores like this, you inspired me with characters like Luke to be strong even of our own fathers weren’t. I have yet to find a more creative, supportive and beautiful franchise in my artist as a musician and movie critic in my life.

There is no conflict

I think this may actually be my favourite piece of star wars music ever. The swelling emotions, mixing fear through the emperor's theme and the haunting melancholy notes as Luke gives in to his hate, even for just a moment. it never fails to give me goosebumps.

The ultimate battle between Jedi & Sith, Light & Dark, Good & Evil, and Father & Son distilled into this one track.
Star Wars has had many epic duels, but none truly capture the intimate, emotional whirlwind of Luke's final duel with Darth Vader.

listening to the fight theme part of the this song, it gives you goosebumps to think about all the ancient Sith Lords, resurgent Sith, Darth bane, etc.. and all of their legacy has led up to this last fight of good and evil (Jedi vs Sith specifically/respectively)
