Genius concept for a video. Great work man!
ОтветитьOne of the best videos breaking down NBA play I have ever seen
ОтветитьA lot of problems here: Just two: Dribbling with the left hand was considered poor technique and was discouraged by coaches from early grades on. Believe me, these guys could all dribble with their left hand but they could do just about anything using their right hand that today’s player does with his left. You have to watch more games.
Also, an absurd claim that centers weren’t an integral part of the offense. Jeez, that’s why they’re call ‘pivots’ – the ball started with them and everyone pivoted around them. Usually. But the centers of the 50’s and 60’s were on the whole batter passers than their equivalents of later decades, exceptions noted.
Also, dunking means nothing in terms of measuring talent. Your comment is just silly. Dunking was considered in poor taste and poor sportsmanship.
AND - the game is STILL played below the rim.
Excellent job!
ОтветитьI prefer NBA 2024 with more spacing
ОтветитьThe only thing this video proves is that Stephen Curry ruined the NBA. The league peaked during 2013-2014 with the back-to-back Finals matchup between the Spurs and Heat. After that, it has become unwatchable and it's all thanks to Curry, that's why I can't stand that mofo.
ОтветитьSo you cant double team MJ?😂😂😂😂 Wow
Ответить2011 mavs my favorite team
ОтветитьGlad you made this video...I definitely learned a bunch so many things became clear
ОтветитьThis new generation is super overrated the most dominant shot all time was the Sky hook and players did it in the 50s only thing is Kareem mastered it
ОтветитьSaying Doc didnt handle the ball is dumb
He didnt have 2 he was beating his man with 2dribbles and it waa the Pg job to handle the rock
Ball movement was beautiful in the 50s
ОтветитьMan shut up
ОтветитьAs an analyst (Operation Coordinator) I really appreciate the statistical evidence provided.
ОтветитьThe nba is so unwatchable today. The best era of basketball was the 80's and 90's
ОтветитьWe need a 4 point line and more physicality.
ОтветитьJacking 3's all game scoring 150 points a game with no defence has ruined the game. The Iverson days were awesome when positions mattered and you had to actually earn a freethrow.
ОтветитьAfter watching this, I am starting to think they should just take away 3 pointer again...
Ответить70s looked the best. 3 point line was a mistake lol
ОтветитьI watched 100s to possibly 1000 or so games from 60s on! You can't learn Squat from 1 game you may have worked hard on this but your take is not close! Don't know bout 50s but the 60s to today! You picked crap games from early eras!
ОтветитьIt would have been nice if you could have touched on the field goal percentages and turnovers in the modern era. In the 98 Finals, both teams shot over 50% and turned the ball over only 9 and 14 times (Bulls and Jazz, respectively). In the 2022 Finals, the Warriors were able to win the game only shooting 41% and turning the ball over 15 times to the Celtics 22!
ОтветитьShaq would absolutely dominate today
ОтветитьGreat stuff! Cool concept, well executed. Subscribed!
Ответитьyou watched ONE video of 60s basketball and automatically deduced that teamplay was almost non-existent and the "narratives" are wrong?
ОтветитьJordans era are so weak compared to this modern basketball
Ответить1994-1998 FTW. :)
ОтветитьGreat, informative video. Appreciate the time and effort you put into this. Thanx.
ОтветитьLol that quote "the 3pt line ruined the game" has got to be from a big.
ОтветитьHahahahahha totally misleading video!
I never seen a more byass video, cherry picking specific edited games to push a personal narrative!
For starters, How convinient that that for the 50s and 60s games it only showed players miss shots and turnovers, as if it was just like that for the entire game and for every game....then it jumps from '85 to '98???...what? You just skiped 13 yrs of NBA golden era!
Oh, And then you stated that hand checking had really no impact on the players ability to make plays🤦🏻♂️
This video is so dishonest it should be cancelled😂😂😂
2 👎👎
Lmfao the defensive spacing in the 80s and 90s is terrible. I have always known it was terrible and what makes it funny mfers in the comments will still defend after witnessing in great detail why it was terrible. 😂😂😂
Ответитьtrash ass video really thinks one game from each decade is gonna prove sum 😂😂😂
Ответитьi hope SHAQ and Stephen A. watch this video... 🥰😂🤣☺️
ОтветитьI love this video. The one thing i wanted to point out is that it wasn't a fact in the 80s that byrd or anybody wasnt interested in shooting 3s. It's that they were discouraged even into the 90s. Reggie Miller and paul pierce spoke on it. Certain coaches and teams would sit you down even in the 90s for taking this shots. At the fine, byrd was in a tight and revolutionary position to be allowed to shoot as he did but if I'm not mistaken, that really came with jordan. The acknowledging 3 point importance.
Ответитьgood for you, now stop wasting my time
ОтветитьShooters have just gotten too good. The line needs to be moved back so that it's back to being a high risk shot.
ОтветитьJaylen Brown playing for the Celtics in the wrong era. Would fit in perfectly in the 60s with his ball handles
ОтветитьIn the 1960s players shot far out despite no 3 point line because the paint was always clogged by the defense
ОтветитьI would set the rules like this:
Behind current 3 point line: 1 point
Inside current 3 point line: 2 points
Dunk: 1 point
The thing that always struck me about Dr. J was his grace. His movement looked smooth and effortless. These days, the player that reminds me of him most is Kawhi.
ОтветитьI was born in the mid sixties, my father in the mid thirties, and I picked up a ton of hook shots from him. And I'm 5'10" in sneakers. Guards shooting that many hooks wasn't really normal by the eighties, but it was to me. 😂
ОтветитьI agree. The three point shot and how it's used TODAY, it has made the game boring.
ОтветитьI disagree with the assessment that ball-handlers were less skilled in former eras. The degree to which a player can carry the ball today makes movement with the basketball so much easier, and the ability to "gather" (travel) today also enables an offensive player to essentially be unguardable. I'd like to see modern players play with the carrying and traveling rules from the 60s. They wouldn't make it out of the back-court without being called for a carry or travel.
ОтветитьPeople say "the game is so soft today". Shaq steamrolled people in his time. Giannis, Zion and lots of other run and dunk men in the NBA today just lower their shoulder into the defender and they never get called for it. Defenders get elbowed in the face all the time and the foul gets called on them. Guys still put their hands all over the offensive players all the time too and are basically hand-checking. Sure, the game is slightly softer today than it was in the 80s and 90s, but that was the peak of physicality in the NBA.
ОтветитьYep. They should get rid ot it. We would start seeing good games again. Shooting a 3 is an easy way to get a shot off because the defender is usually always giving them a little more space.
ОтветитьLate 90s and early 00s was the golden era of the NBA
Malice in the palace was the turning point into todays weak era.
Great content. Congratz on 1,4 views. This video deserves every single one of them and a lot more.
Ответитьsuch a obvious idea for a video , makes no sense that I never seen something like this. and very well executed.
ОтветитьRight after that, not a very good game to compare right handedness because the Celtics shooting guard, Brown cannot go to the left no matter what
Ответить
