A church pastor husband stabbed his wife 123 times - The case of Lauren Phelps.

Lauren Hugel-Meer and Matt Phelps first met in middle school but reconnected years later through Instagram. Their shared interests and Christian faith quickly blossomed into love, leading to an engagement and marriage. However, cracks began to appear as Matt's behavior became increasingly erratic. He struggled with trust issues and financial irresponsibility, spending excessively and neglecting his job, leaving Lauren overwhelmed. Their relationship deteriorated further after a tense trip to visit Matt's family. Eventually, Matt's mental state worsened, culminating in a tragic night on September 1, 2017, when he fatally stabbed Lauren. Matt claimed to have taken Coricidin, a cold medicine, which he believed caused hallucinations. Despite this, toxicology reports indicated that he was not under the influence at the time. Matt was arrested and later sentenced to life in prison without parole for Lauren's murder.
