Overall the pixel wins. Video was one of the strong points of the iPhone 7 and right but the pixel does it better especially with stabilisation

I would give the edge to the Pixel in terms of overall camera performance. However, I'm not buying a camera but a smartphone so I went with the iPhone X.

iPhone's problem is that automatic HDR is crap. in the settings you can disable it though, and manually activate it in the camera. its photos will become outstanding then

Auto HDR still sucks on iPhone. Just force it on. Gives much more comparable results.

Colours can be corrected/edited even in mobile apps now, but dynamic range and sharpness can't be achieved just by editing software. So for me, Pixel wins.

What’s clear from all the comparisons I’ve seen so far is that Pixel has a tendency to underexpose and iPhone overexpose. I’d be interested in how iPhone images looked in those night shots with HDR enabled and manually exposing to protect the highlights.

These cameras both have the same size sensor and I’m willing to bet any increased dynamic range is software based (and possible to compensate for with manual exposure)

Really close? Dude.. Pixel 2 has single camera modules while other "expensive brick" has more cameras, more price but fails to give a shot to Google's single cameras. I can live without any iPhone 😏 it's a dumbest thing on the planet I've ever seen. No fingerprint(it's face ID...Sucks!🤢), no home button and much more expensive than a gaming laptop. What a pity. And one last thing.. THAT HUGE NOTCH.. yukkkkk!!
