Thanks for the vid! Super helpful. Planning a cross country bike trip. Trying to gather all the great tech i need!
ОтветитьI would love to win a Garmin 1040 Solar, I had a stroke 3 weeks ago and have had to sell my car and I am now relying on my Gravel bike and pannier so Satellite navigation not relying purely on a power supply would be a game changer compared to my old Garmin! Great video thanks.
ОтветитьGarmin products are so overpriced…
ОтветитьWho makes the food bags brother?
ОтветитьI’d love to win one so I can give it to my other (better) half to use so that she can be more independent on the bike with real time data- currently we use one between us both. I have a tailfin setup and I’ve had to invest in the same amount of bags too as I will be carrying all of her stuff 😅 Have a great journey across the States.
ОтветитьHey! Love what you’ve both done I’m working my way through the series! I’m training for a big 170km ride over in the Netherlands to raise money for street child so looking into needing a GARMIN GPS UNIT. awesome work both! 👊🏻
ОтветитьAwesome trip, I loved the video showing what equipment you're carrying and using. I've got a Garmin GPS unit and it's great, but the new 1040 Solar sounds amazing for longer multi-day trips. Keep up the amazing videos.
ОтветитьKick in my name for the Garmin solar, looks like a solid piece of kit! I've never had a head unit, so I imagine has a bit of a learning curve. I am a novice cyclist...but want to go further! Your whole journey has been very inspiring. Selflessness and generosity emanate off you in these videos....and I know its not just the editing! Thank you for sharing with us.
ОтветитьHi Francis, thanks for the series!
On their website, Tailfin does not recommend fitting a Downtube Pack (which I assume is the v-mount bag you are using) directly to the forks of your bike. Do you know why that is and would you mind sharing your experience with the packs on the fork?
Cheers,
Sebastian
I recently moved back to my hometown and picked up cycling again. So far i was only able to navigate with a smartphone which isnt a very ideal setup. The garmin would be a huge improvement and for sure increase the fun and enjoyment my rides would make.
BG and damn excited about your adventure and your videos
Looking forward to a follow-up to this video with how/what actually worked!
ОтветитьTotal bags capacity should be 80 liters, very nice bike touring setup
ОтветитьAs a relatively new rider in my 60’s who is adding more and more distance in preparation for longer Point to point rides I would be honored to win one of the Garmin units.
On another note I’m thoroughly enjoying this video series and compliment each of you on the endeavor.
You guys are inspiring! After my wife’s chemo d or being cleared of breast cancer would like to ride across Canada to raise charity for Cancer and use the 1040 for navigating. It’s out of my comfort zone but you guys are giving me lots of info. Love you guys!😊
ОтветитьI'v started riding not so long ago and I'v been looking forward to do trips on my own. and seeing your video really motivates me so it would be quite nice to have this garmin computer so that I can really start to make real trips
ОтветитьProper useful piece of kit that I can use with some mates cycling from London to Istanbul next year. Would be doing us a solid x
ОтветитьCan't wait until Tailfin releases those frame bags to market; they look super slick!
I have a 24hr challenge coming up and the extra battery life that the Garmin 1040 has would be amazing!
Really been enjoying your videos! What the name of the pump again? Thanks
ОтветитьWould love a 1040 solar, you guys have inspired me to try and do some longer trips!
ОтветитьLoving the videos so far lads. Can't wait to watch more
ОтветитьI'm going backward in time!! Started watching two weeks ago and now going through the early ones I missed. Huge respect to you both, difficult challenge no doubt and just donated for those reasons. Just bought a new bike and the 1040 would look so very pretty afront the bike.
ОтветитьThis is an excellent video. I really appreciate the insight. As some one who lives in the US and wants to start bike packing from state to state, I'm really excited to see how your journey goes.
ОтветитьWell this would be extremely helpful 🙌 a recent move from London to sunny North Yorkshire with lots of Komoot rides planned to explore the area already. I'm also turning 30 next year and planning a 2 week 26 inch tour of Lofoten Norway 🇳🇴 🤟
Let the adventures begin

Hi Francis & Justin,
Your tour is so inspiring! I wish you all the best for the rest of your road trip and a save arrival in LA!!!
I would be so happy to win the Garmin 1040. On my last >200km road bike trips the batteries of my good old Garmin Fenix 5 Plus (with Komoot running ;-) ) was a not able to withstand till arrival at the designation.
The Garmin would help me find safe paths to navigate Houston and surrounding areas. As you've noticed America is very car centric and tricky to navigate safely on bike. You are very inspiring thanks for coming to the USA!
ОтветитьI'd love to win one, cause I got a really really old Garmin computer and I really do need a new one haha. Been riding a lot and it would definetly come in handy
ОтветитьIt would be nice to get rid of my phone from handlebar. Since I do a lot of photos while riding it's always pain in the a$$ to unmount it, take a photo, mount it again, test it a few times if it is good placed and not wobbly then going back to ride. This year I did borrow a garmin-like divice for a 210 km ride so I could use my phone flawlessly. Now that I'm moveing in to another country it would be great to have such thing as a companion for finding new routes
ОтветитьI am getting into triathlon! Just recently upgraded to a carbon bike and have been cycling around LA. Recently got hit by a car because I was confused about directions. I really need to get a bike computer once my bike gets fixed and I am back on the road, this would be perfect for me!
ОтветитьHi, I’m 18 new to bike packing and am planning my first big trip this summer. I am planning to circumnavigate Lake Superior! Winning this would be great and definitely make this trip more achievable!
ОтветитьFrancis! I'd love to win the Garmin 1040. In the last year I discovered bikepacking as the absoloute best way to spend a vaction with friends. It gives all of us so much joy and freedome, while discovering the beautiful Netherlands and neighbouring countries. With the Garmin I could finally get through the trip without having to charge so many devices on my powerbank every evening. Especially when traveling and camping, this can be difficult sometimes.
Also, keep on rolling guys! This tour and videos are really amazing to watch and also so motivating. Thanks and good luck! <3
Hi guys!, I could really used a Garmin !
I ride in Panama City Florida, and it is one of the most dangerous places to ride because the drivers dont case about bicyclist !
I was already in an Accident in April and im just getting back into riding again with my refurbished GreenSpeed Recumbent Trike!
The Garmin GPS would be a GodSent Blessing! You two be safe out there! and watch out for Tucson AZ, it gets Crazy there!
I would love the 1040 so that I can give my 530 to my mum who is starting out cycling
ОтветитьWasn't aware Garmin made all these biking equipment, Would like to win one because I can't afford one.
ОтветитьHow much in total $ to get all this equipment?
ОтветитьAmazing adventure, way to go! That Garmin Edge 1040 is the sweetest device you are carrying, from an enviable list, for such long rides is perfect which is why I want one myself.
ОтветитьI just came back from japan from a 2 week trip in japan and used my garmin fenix 6x for everything. Garmin really are the best at cycling tech!!!
ОтветитьI'd like the 1030 solar because bike tech is cool👍
ОтветитьId like to win the garmin so it would be much easier to reach my goal of touring the whole eastcoast greenway!
ОтветитьGood luck and thank you for the inspiration dudes!
ОтветитьI want a garmin head unit because they are the best!
Ответитьi've never seen a hand bike like this. I love that this exists. Im subscribed. This looks exciting.
ОтветитьGreetings from Arizona. I'd love a new Garmin so I can pass on my 130 Plus to a young friend who is just getting into road cycling. It would be a win/win!!!
ОтветитьI don’t know if that whole garmin promotion is still going on but I would love one of those. I’m just getting into some touring on my surly straggler and have been doing about 100 miles every weekend. I have this goofy rubber phone mount and I’m nervous my phone is going to go flying. The furthest I’ve gone is 150 miles and in that ride I was going 40mph downhill. I also have one of those new garmin lights that I bought myself as a birthday present. Id just get one myself but I can’t afford it. Thanks for the opportunity
ОтветитьI love these types of journey videos! Just enabled notifications so I get notified of each new episode. Lookong forward to this!
PS: would love a 1040 since I dont have anythong to track my rides right now :)
Awesome video, first time I've seen someone mention using the v mount packs on the form. I thought you needed screws on the fork to put them there. Would love to get a new garmin to replace mine (520) that had the buttons chewed off by a rat while I was on vacation this recent summer
Ответитьi am new to biking and your videos was my inspiration in taking this new hobby. i wish you the best for the trip.
ОтветитьI would like the headunit, because I'm planning bikepacking tours with my friend and we don't have one yet. In the past we have used our phones, but they're quite big and clumsy and might fall of and smash. I would be very happy about winning the headunit and using it on my rides
