Dude, mechanical pencil reference... If you take your ordinary no. 2 pencil and draw it across the paper, eraser first, rotating it in your fingers, you'll always have a sharp point.
Ответить"I'd totally tap that!", the Adam Savage Story...
ОтветитьAdam sees a piece of metal...."I'd tap that"
ОтветитьLovely piece of equipment and i want one too😅however maybe you forgot 1 part of the build. To stain or varnish the wood base you made for it. Will tone it very well.
ОтветитьBlondihacks has been doing a great multipart series on building one of these. She's been doing a wonderful job on it. Makes me want to get into home machining.
ОтветитьLook at this crazy guy! Doing a glue up on his table saw top. Lmao I know, it's not that big of a deal.
ОтветитьBest work, ever.
ОтветитьI didnt adam could do such an amazing chipmunk impression 🤣
ОтветитьI ordered the kit from Andy a few weeks ago, he was very helpful and a knowledgeable gentleman to talk to. He had mentioned your video has drummed up quite a bit of business for the filing machine kits and seemed to be happy that there’s quite a bit of interest in the filing machine kits
Ответитьseems if you really machined it all yourself, you would know it's an oil pump not bath. While the literature calls it an oil bath, the main vertical shaft is hollow on the bottom half with a oil spit hole midway up and a sump bottom that forces oil out and into the bronze bearings. So, did you really? Do tell..... <.< just kiddin... I'm sure you did...
ОтветитьThanks.
ОтветитьTapping guide, apart from the good reasons you gave, one of the main reasons for keeping taps (especially fine threads) perpendicular is to avoid cross threading! Only a part of a degree increases the bending moment of the tap and so the likelihood of breaking dramatically increases. Naturally a shallow hole of 4 threads or less is not so bad but there is nothing like keeping things plumb. Murphy will insist that the tap breaks toward the end of a job?
ОтветитьI think this is a great machine and when I saw the cut screen of how it worked the first thing I thought was 'you could totally make it manual using a singer sewing machine'.. Would love to see that build 😀
ОтветитьMy bet! He has a wind cut on his Finger!
Better keep it bandaged up. Skippy poof!
Doesn't it need a bigger pulley so that you can get nice and slow for accurate work?
ОтветитьAdam, please make a mental note not to stand directly in back of pieces you are ripping on a table saw, (he said in a high pitched voice) don't ask why I know this.
ОтветитьThe amount of times I've done or not done something upside down is astounding, lol.
Ответитьi love clickspring, i went to a rabbit hole with the antikythera mechanism videos😂
ОтветитьWhat is the make and motor of that motor?
ОтветитьI have been wanting to build one of those for my shop for years. I might just do it now. Great job
ОтветитьHahaha, you thru me for a loop when you said nice round numbers. Then said 2.1 and my first thought was 2.125 which is 2 and an 1/8. To me that’s a round number. 👍
ОтветитьI think Relton makes a better cutting fluid for aluminum, rather than their standard "Rapid-Tap". Yes, looked it up, it's called "A-9"
ОтветитьCongrats on the 100% self built tool!
ОтветитьWelp, now I have a set of transfer punches on the way...
ОтветитьYou have to have mad respect for this guy.....
If things work out the way they should for me, this machine gives me a really good idea. Your mind is so preoccupied with fire legs u think everyone has that same interest, your just a greedy, ugly, hateful pos man, mind ya @#$$### business ho...
Hating washers or not there is a very good reason for them. And they should be used
ОтветитьWhat would be nice lathe to learn on?
ОтветитьNice!!!
ОтветитьWhy wouldn't Jamie be watching ?
ОтветитьTransfer punches rule! So useful.
ОтветитьGosh I wish I could afford plywood like that, the good stuff
ОтветитьI was cooking a double batch of brownies once and I was doubling the recipe, I accidentally doubled a number twice and ended up with a quad batch and barely had enough to do a quad batch. That was a nightmare
ОтветитьBeautiful. Try a larger pulley on the drive side? You don't need the speed and it would help your drivetrain. Just a thought...
ОтветитьWhen I set up a motor pulley combination I just use a straight edge on the pulley
ОтветитьI used a commercial die filer in one of my early jobs as a machinist and found it to be an indispensable tool. The addition of a magnifier , perhaps one with a built in light will make this tool even better. It just occurred to me that a variable speed jig saw turned upside down on a base and adapted to hold files would pretty much do the same thing and for lots cheaper than the casting kit and other items needed to finish your build.
ОтветитьHi Adam. Do a DIY on making a tig cooler.
ОтветитьNeed some kind of hold down for the parts you are filling so they don't vibrate
ОтветитьNever seen anything like that before my life I’ve been around machine shops for 50 years wish I had one
ОтветитьHere's a concept I'm thinking about, a die filer attachment for a drill press. I'm actually wanting to make one using a drill press base and table I have laying around but there's no reason you couldn't make the drive portion and stick it on the base of a working press whenever you need the machine.
ОтветитьThat’s cool thanks for sharing this awesome fun!
ОтветитьYou silly twit......when you sanded that wood on the band sander you weren't wearing a respirator..........did you know that all wood is carcenogenic as it's part of the tree's defense mechanism against borers etc.......enphysema is a bad illness to have with no return once you show symptoms.
ОтветитьThanks again for sharing this with us Adam.
FYI, if you need to align Two Pulleys, Gears etc, use the side edge of a Steel Rule, on short distances and a String Line, if the parts are further apart. Hope that helps JB
Gee, I bet you are the only one of us who has cut a piece upside down........
ОтветитьThat toot Adam made when blowing his nose in high speed
Ответить
