I really hate those computer generated voice overs. I had to quit once it came to "A U S F G. It's a shame because the content of the video is really good.

If the Germans Radio comms hadn't been intercepted the following battle of Kursk would have been a similar victory and who knows what would have happened on the Eastern Front... possibly a negotiated peace in 1944.

Keep this in mind too…. At this very moment the US 2nd Corp had just been wrecked at Kasserine and the UBoats were at their most destructive point of the war… so Stalingrad or not, Germans would have had a lot to be hopeful about.

What a huge defeat for the Red Army, even outnumbering the Germans 8 to 1....and fighting the battle at home. with all the necessary resources at their disposal ! Manstein was the greatest strategic genius of WW2, in spite of Hitler's continual meddling with demential orders.

How about this: Hitler and Jefferson Davis both lost largely because they failed to appreciate defending the line of opposition with screening forces while keeping the main strength concentrated in the rear for the counter-attack. By refusing to give up ground, mainly for symbolic considerations, they played into the hands of the enemy. Just a thought.

This is one of the Germans last hurrahs before Kursk and retreat. By the time it was D-Day the German Army was living on past glory. But still an Army not to be taken lightly.

In the end, the Nazis were crushed and Berlin was entered. That is the most important event. Everything else, like this video, is just partial details that the defeated use to convince themselves that they were something important, not the weather, snow, etc. haha.
