This video is beautiful
ОтветитьSo much skill lost to CGI.😢
ОтветитьWill always look better than digital. The only way to happen backwards is lying to your self. That's the reason there is critique anymore.
ОтветитьTechnology can never replace talent.
Remember its the artist not the brush.
He is an amazing Artist
ОтветитьThat young matte painter Robert Stromberg went on to direct the live action Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie in 2018 after working and winning an academy award for Best Set Design on Avatar.
Ответитьстарое дерьмо, скорее реклама американской истории, время потрачено зря.
Ответить👏👍🔥🖼️
Ответитьdidn't they go from this technique of hand painting the mats to a similar one, using green screen effects ?
now it is all CGI and looks fake AF
Do you have the missing episodes of season 2 and 3? I'm tracking down tv recording tapes but in the meantime i'm making a playlist on here.
Thanks for all the uploads thus far and in advance for any more ^^
Its nice but faaaar too labor intensive
Ответитьi miss these days. Its nothing like this now.
ОтветитьI used to set my VCR to record this show. Also read those expensive issues of CineFX. It was a goldmine of information.
ОтветитьMan I started crying realizing how blessed I’ve been to witness this amazing moment in this human experience growing up in the 80s it always felt like we were waiting for the future I realize now I was living in a golden age of wonder
ОтветитьTrue movie magic
ОтветитьSuch a fantastic show. Pre-net this was it.
ОтветитьJust filmed my first monster movie, it's in editing now. This show deeply inspired me to work towards film making with my life.
ОтветитьSora: LMFAO !
ОтветитьWhat did they do when photoshop was introduced?
Ответитьlesbi@n movies magic
ОтветитьI remember this use to come on tv on a Sunday good times.
ОтветитьMy favorite part is how they scratch off the paint to let light shine through for the nighttime scenes. So simple but effective.
ОтветитьWho the hell is this Matt guy anyway...?
ОтветитьIts like time travelling. Its true art but i go with ci gi eye
ОтветитьA lost art now. They just do 3d stuff that ironically looks less convincing most of the time
ОтветитьSimon would say: Humans got talent
Ответитьstill better than cgi, green, blue screen
ОтветитьSadly, this man has been replaced by AI
ОтветитьЗдорово. Как же сейчас всё упростилось.
Ответитьwow
ОтветитьCGi is basically a matte painting done with computers, and where matte paintings are usually just a single frame shown for multiple seconds CGI is 24 frames per second instead. I think because matte paintings just used a single frame they put a bit more effort into them. For an experienced painter it was probably a bit cheaper to come up with some wild stuff in a painting vs needing CGI experts to develop the same thing in motion.
ОтветитьI used to Knock on the Door of Matte World when I was a talented artist as a teenager in the 90’s, but they never let me in, or gave me the time day. There loss, there out of business now. my 3D CAD has taken over the industry.
Ответитьthe first time i heard about matte paintings was the scnen from ROTJ, in which you could see hundreds of stormtroopers, when the imperator arrives. It blew my mind, that these were actually painted!
ОтветитьTechnologies for humans and against humans..
Ответитьamazing talent
ОтветитьThe problem with digital matte and visual effects today is that it is rendered too sharp, ruining the illusion of realism. Original, hand painted ones were more with "impessionistic" finish.
ОтветитьI miss these kinds of techniques, I saw them in movies like The Running Man or Blade Runner, the futuristic thing looked so real.
ОтветитьAmazing documentary.
Thanks
I remember watching this show as a kid. Never thought I'd see it again
ОтветитьThis is truly amazing!!
ОтветитьThat was interesting! Thanks
ОтветитьAnd many of these techniques are used in Anime.
ОтветитьI recorded a bunch of these shows on vhs.
ОтветитьI remember watching this show as a kid in the 90s.
Ответитьcgi before cgi
ОтветитьArtificial intelligence will make this art craft obsolete.
