and there is not even one planet in existance,.. not even one.. even earth is not a planet.. but there is something genetic that stops people from loving and accepting the truth .
ОтветитьThey are telling me to look up so much I am tempted to look down
ОтветитьThank you Lex and Adam for this beautiful discussion!
ОтветитьLex had the personality of a wet dish rag. What a joke of a podcast. Shame on all of us for settling on trash
Ответить@lexfridman As Adam mentions, it’s crazy geologist, geochemist and biologist aren’t involved in this conversation.
It a geo 101 fact that the earth has evolved as a natural system in equilibrium.
Space craft will be made out of amended ice.
ОтветитьDid he say that rocks slam together to form bigger rocks?
ОтветитьThat was wonderful from start to finish!!!
ОтветитьThe arrogance in the statement that life is easy to start is fucking hilarious. When we have modern science completely unable to create a new cell from scratch.

ОтветитьSad to see that this very smart guy spends so much energy in this, whereas the last 2 congressional hearings on UAPs are informing us that the US military has kept everyone in the dark regarding crash retrievals of UFO ships here on Earth... Science will have to be angry about this coverup.
ОтветитьLex, would you call an ant colony that stretches miles underground an Intelligent civilization?
ОтветитьThey make it feel so complicated and hard when most of scientists thinks it’s all determenated! So there is no hard steps or wonders! It was all meant to be!! You all look like those fools who belive in free will and the magic of that!! Wake up it’s been determent all along whats the big deal!
ОтветитьAt 2.06 contact. Interplanetary contact would be exactly the same as first contact native/pacific people's had with so called advanced English, Spanish, Dutch etc cultures, was it benign, No!
Ответить😎😎😎😎😎😎
ОтветитьHey little lex. You should do a podcast on these Ukraine bots that you made up. That would be a great listen. Or one on the civilian plane Putin shot down. Or the continued sabotage against the people of Estonia and Finland.
ОтветитьWould’ve loved to hear his thoughts on the simulation theory.
ОтветитьWhy don't aliens make contact with us? Answer: Why don't you kneel down on an ant hill and start describing astrophysics to them? We are so primitive, we're barely worth the time to examine. These exobeings figured out how to live in a perfectly circular, sustainable way, which is the only way an organism can survive technological development long enough to crack interstellar travel, so they don't need to colonize. They don't need anything we have, maybe a little hydrogen and oxygen from one of our oceans. And that's why I think humans are an evolutionary failure. We developed technology, but we didn't evolve spiritually, morally, empathetically. Our technological development is growing exponentially, but we can't even get over racism, greed, lying, cheating, stealing, bigotry, anger, hate, violence, materialistic desire... We have a linear economy, extract, consume, discard, repeat, but we live on a sphere. Of course, a perfectly circular economy, with constraints on population, (reduction by factor of 8) would put an end to capitalism, since everyone would already have everything they need.
ОтветитьHave you noticed physicists aren’t great at abiogenesis? Lex should get chemist John Sutherland on his show.
ОтветитьWARNING!
This is a white man trying very hard to understand something while appearing to completely understand something that we have NOT FIGURED OUT YET.
I know, disappointing. However, the interest and energy is there which we all know will eventually translate into progress.
C'mon Adam you're really close!
I think we are the first. Intelligent life isn't necessary and doesn't play an obvious role unless the goal is immortality or artificial life to spread life.
Ответить10 Billion Trillion Habitable Zone Planets is on the very conservative side. Because Ice Shell Moons which could harbor Life far more often (Around Stars with Several Billion Year plus lifespans) outnumber Habitable Zone Planets by perhaps, a Quintillion Trillion times 😳.
ОтветитьOnce we colonize the solar system, it will be much harder to decipher what's a UFO vs manmade object.
ОтветитьAs a gambler that pessimists line really hit hard; there’s a 1/
10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 in chance that we were the only planet that has intelligent life. That’s worse odds than surviving 5 different lightning strikes in a single year 😂😂
great as always, thanks!
ОтветитьVigorous Plate Tectonics (which is my favorite Geological Subject) is thought to be easier to achieve on Super Earths. Supercharging Multicellular Life possibly far sooner than our less Habitable small terrestrial Planet hindered by long, Billion year plus Frozen Snowball Archaen Eons. We need to find the Super Habitable Worlds.
ОтветитьThis is phenomenology. Love it.
ОтветитьSo our 200 year old, Infantile Technosphere, is not creating conditions for life to thrive over Millions to Billions of years. Therefore it's "Non Autopoietic".
ОтветитьAdam didn’t make it to the Assassins Creed 2 part where Ezio gets a firearm 😂
ОтветитьLike George Carlin once said "the Earth isn't going anywhere. It can make a simple adjustment with a Supervolcanic Eruption immediately followed by a Black Death Level Pandemic to reestablish it's Equilibrium. By reducing us to a few thousand or eliminating our species all together. Allowing the next one to take our place. Then repeat it again until it finds one to live in Autopoisis with this Planet!"
ОтветитьTotal recall
ОтветитьNovice here but it’s important to remember that intelligent life still requires a body capable of producing say none biological mechanical intelligent outcomes. There could be dolphins in every solar system. We wouldn’t know.
ОтветитьThe Washington monument is fare more advanced than any pyramid. And is purposely taller than the great pyramid of Egypt.
ОтветитьThis video probably lasted longer than most alien civilizations.
ОтветитьI’d love to hear thoughts on the dark forest hypothesis, and whether it would get to a point where we’d wish we were alone in the universe
ОтветитьThere have obviously been advanced civilizations on earth in the past. 80 54’ 00” N 19 28’ 00” W for a good example.
ОтветитьWaiting for him to say manosphere - dude looks like Richard Cooper
ОтветитьImagine traveling 100 light years in a Generational Starship over 500 years to the most Habitable Planet known. You land, and it has the wrong Chirality 😬.
ОтветитьAdam Frank & Garry Nolan are my two favorite communicators on this Planet. I couldn't miss one sentence of this 3.5 hour discussion.
ОтветитьGreat conversation lex. Thanks for letting me listen in 👍
ОтветитьNhaaaaaaaaaaaaa😅
ОтветитьI disagree in some sense about experience. It's nit rooted in Intrinisic truth but only personal belief system. If I see purple elephants should all accept that as personal experience? Newton is prime example. His experience is that the apple fell. UT then through science came to understand that the apple and earth both have mass and therfore gravity and are gravitated towards each other and not just one object to another. So he came to realize his experience wasn't really correct even if it's what he "experienced"
ОтветитьNaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.❤
ОтветитьWhats a Blunt?😂
ОтветитьWach a falling slinkey, put it in your pocket, never let it fade away.
