BEST Budget Android TV 2017? Xiaomi Mi TV 4a Review!

Seems like too much trouble to go through got to be real text savvy to use it

I bought a Chinese tablet over 2 years ago, all in Chinese. The tablet was half the price of an ipad- dual boots into both Android and Windows 10 with a 4k screen. to completely convert is easy. After changing to english as ASBYT shows just have to change keyboard and time zone settings, maybe one or two others I can't remember. The Google play store was also on the USB stick in the video just install it. All the rest of the Chinese on the home page will be Chinese shopping, app store, TV and gaming apps etc. just treat them as bloatware and uninstall them. Next add a Google account, install ES file explorer (which can be used to transfer files and apks from any android device) and then it can be used just like any Android TV box. You could also use google drive to transfer apks perhaps even download using Chrome. I expect it would also work with a bluetooth keyboard and/or mouse. Only a little more work and brain power needed then setting up an android TV box or phone etc.. Only concerns from me are is it rooted ( so bloatware can be fully removed) How much memory is available for apps and kodi builds? What version of android?

I have a mi box and it lags and buffers when I try and watch kodi or any apks is it the box or my internet I have 50 speed. I have been thinking about upgrading to the t95z. Would like your input what you would buy?

As usual a good review, but I'll be sticking to whichever TV (and phone and tablet and broadband and socks etc etc...) that my other half says is best.

Thanks for the review.  Now I know not to buy this. Not my cup of tea. Why would I buy a tv that needs translations.  I don't even like foreign flicks with subtitles not to mention the fact that I don't own a pc with windows and have all mac computers so it would be a major problem to change the language and who knows what would happen with updates?

What a Ball Ache.... But if thats your budget get in, does look like hours wasted sorting the langauge before you can install a few APK's nevermind watching Emmerdale. :o

It seems to me that Android TV boxes become obsolete so quickly at the moment that it just doesnt make sense to buy an Android TV especially one with everything in Chinese.

By the time you get it sorted it will be out of date and nothing will run on it.

Hi Asbyt I'm looking to download films from covenant, I have done so before on my old mxq box but now have tx3 mini. Although it offers a download feature I can not get them to the usb so I can watch them whilst in hospital, they do download but where the hell to I have no idea, any settings I should know about or try please, thanks in advance

Funny how people are getting at him for being a sellout when this is in fact one of the straightforward reviews I've ever seen him do. For those of you asking the point, If you are looking for a new TV with a Android TV box already built in, the 4K version of this TV that has more RAM and Storage might be worth looking into depending on its price. Android powered 4K TVs by Sony usually go for about $700 on the low end so this better be quite a bit cheaper and/or better than those.

The 4K version seems to be the one to get with its much better android specs. Pricing is still unknown but if its not much cheaper and/or better than Sony Bravia's with Android then its pointless.

hmmm....great idea but too much to do on it to get it up and running for my tastes. Probably in a year or so they will come up with a TV more suitable,especially if they want to attract the "westerners".....so until then I will just watch the videos of you struggling. Great video and review as usual. Always honest with your opinions.

Your description is wrong, it comes in 768p (1366*768), NOT 720p.
