James 2:14-26

English Standard Version

Faith Without Works Is Dead

14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good[a] is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

All the Vatican 2 catholics say it's too confusing, I don't understand, it's confusing ! Or the mass is enough, no, it's not enough. You must have the true Catholic faith.
There is nothing confusing about it !!!

Pope Gregory the 16th 1831 let nothing of the truths that have been defined, it be lessened, nothing altered nothing added, but let them be preserved intact in the word and then meaning.

Vatican Council of 1870 session 3 chapter 4 part 13 and 14 EX cathedra -- for the doctrine of the faith which God has revealed is put forward not as some philosophical Discovery capable of being perfected by human intelligence but as a Divine deposit committed to the spouse of Christ to be Faithfully protected and infallibly promulgated hence to that meaning of the sacred dogmas is ever to be maintained which has once been declared by holy mother church and there must never be any abandonment of this sense under the pretext or in the name of a more profound understanding.

Pope Leo 13 - Satis Cognitum # 13, 1896. You are not to be looked upon as holding the true Catholic faith if you do not teach the faith of Rome is to be held.

Pope Pius10th syllabus condemning the errors of the modernists 1907 article 62 : the proposition the chief articles of the Apostles Creed did not have the same sense for the Christians of the first stages as they have for the Christians of our time is hereby condemned as erroneous.

St John of the Cross 1591 wherefore if there be revealed to us anything new or different we must in no way give consent to it not even though it were spoken by an Angel.

St. Thomas Aquinas doctor of the church 1274 all those who deny one Article of Faith regardless of their reason are by that very fact excommunicated.

Pope Eugene the fourth Council of Florence Session 8 1439 ex cathedra whoever Wills to be saved before all things it is necessary that he holds the Catholic faith unless a person keeps this Faith whole and undefiled without doubt He Shall Perish eternally.

Pope Leo 13th 1896 the practice of the church has always been the same as is shown by the unanimous teaching of the fathers who were want to hold as outside Catholic communion and alien to the church whoever would recede in the least degree from any point of Doctrine proposed by her authoritative magisterium.

Council Florence session 11 February 4th 1442 ex cathedra the Holy Roman Church condemns reproves anathematize has and declares to be outside the body of church which is the Catholic Church whoever holds opposing or contrary views.

Pope Saint Leo the Great, Doctor of the Church, 440- 461 A.D. - the faith shall never vary in any age for one is the faith which justifies the just of all ages it is unlawful to differ even by a single word from Apostolic Doctrine.

Pope Leo 10th, 5th lateran Council session 8th 1513 EX cathedra and since truth cannot contradict the truth we Define that every statement contrary to the enlightened truth of the faith is totally false and we strictly forbid teaching otherwise to be permitted we decree that all those who cling to erroneous statements of this time thus sowing heresies which are wholly condemned should be avoided in every way and punished as detestable and odious Heretics and infidels who are undermining the Catholic faith.

Saint Athanasius, died 373 AD. God's word is one and the same in the doors forever unchanged always the same

Pope Pius 9th, Qui Pluribus I'm faith and religion November 9th 1846 paragraph 20 never cease to instruct all men in it never tolerating and letting pass anyting which could in the slightest degree defiled the purity of this faith. What the same great strength of Mind Foster and all men their Unity with the Catholic church outside of which there is no salvation.

Pope Saints Sixtus 3,432 A.D. nothing new is to be allowed for nothing can be added to the old look for the faith of the elders and do not let our faith be disturbed by a mixture of new doctrines

St Vincent of Lerins 445 A.D., all novelty in faith is a sure Mark of heresy. Saint Paul Cried Out aloud again and again to all men to all times and to all places that if anyone announces a new doctrine let him be anathematized excommunicated.

Ecclesiastics 18:5 – nothing maybe taken away or added.

Pope Pius X, 1903-1914 A.D., Oath against Modernism - and so I retain most firmly the faith of the fathers and shall retain it until the final Breath of Life regarding the certain Gifts of Truth which is was and will always be in the succession of the episcopacy from the apostles not so that what may seem better and more fitting according to each one's period of culture may be held but so that the absolute and immutable truth preached by the apostles from the beginning may never be believed otherwise may never be understood otherwise !!!

Galatians 1:8 - but though we are an angel from heaven preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you let him be anathema excommunicated from the church

Proverbs 30:6, add nothing to his words lest you be reproved and found a liar.

St Thomas Aquinas doctor of the church died 1274 A.D – Our faith is identical with that of the ancients. Deny this and you dissolve the unity of the church !! we must hold this for certain that the faith of the people at the present day is one with the faith of the people of past centuries !!! were this not true then we would be in a different Church then they and literally the church would not be one !!!

Saint Cyril of Alexandria doctor of the church died 444, A.D. – for it is not allowable for anyone to change even one word, nor allow one syllable to be passed over mindful of the saying : past not beyond the ancient bounds which thy fathers have set !!!

If there is a change YOU ARE NOT TO SUPPORT IT OR embrace it IN ANY WAY !!!

There is no confusion unless you're a heretic and belong to the vatican 2 fake church, there is no confusion for true Catholics, I'll say that again there is no confusion for the true Catholics the teachings of the church are simple and clear. Nothing is to be changed !!!!! Nothing !! If you disagree with this your excommunicated from the church you no longer are Catholic you no longer have a father in Heaven !!!

I understand brother but like you said, God instructed them to do so, and he gave them precise instructions, right? Now who say that you can do the same with the Saint are even the Lord? And for the father situation, the Lord say that because he wanted to make us comprehend that only God deserved those names because those are not just names. They are qualities and values that only God can fully carry. Now for the prayer, intercession, only Jesus Christ can intercede for us, the reason is just evident, he is the only one who died for our sins and he is the only one by whom we are saved my friend, and you say why not , praying or ask Mary are the Saint for intercession for you are for others, is not biblical it's just your point of view.

1 There was a man named Nicodemus, one of the Pharisees. He was an important Jewish leader. 2 One night he came to Jesus and said, “Teacher, we know that you are a teacher sent from God. No one can do these miraculous signs that you do unless they have God’s help.”

3 Jesus answered, “I assure you, everyone must be born again. Anyone who is not born again cannot be in God’s kingdom.”

4 Nicodemus said, “How can a man who is already old be born again? Can he go back into his mother’s womb and be born a second time?”

5 Jesus answered, “Believe me when I say that everyone must be born from water and the Spirit. Anyone who is not born from water and the Spirit cannot enter God’s kingdom. 6 The only life people get from their human parents is physical. But the new life that the Spirit gives a person is spiritual. 7 Don’t be surprised that I told you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it wants to. You hear it, but you don’t know where it is coming from or where it is going. It is the same with everyone who is born from the Spirit.” -John 3:1-8 ERV

How does one get born again?

I was Catholic and thought I had a good relationship with God and am fairly fervent but didn't understand the sacramental life of the Catholic Church. Luckily, I did not know of the bias against what is deemed a conservative group called Opus Dei. who taught me how to love God with all my heart, mind and soul through art (liturgical art) and giving our best. I didn't know others called it opulent, but it was giving the best as what our best was... My mind was blind and could have gone judgy, but as I said, luckily, I didn't know.. And I saw with God's eyes that in this community of faith, I see people trying and becoming aware, even if some members' idea of best was funny to me, when they seem triumphantly saying (perhaps it is a symbolic act of giving away some of their riches) they gave a nun an LV bag or shoe (I bet the nun if properly formed wasn't really so impressed by the brand but just that it was hopefully good sturdy shoes, cultural references falling flat or even neutralized to reality. Some can't handle the idea that others may think it is opulent and would just monetize it.. to those who do think it is worth its brand... not so sure if we want to perpetuate that brandname mentality or elitist (pride) mentality🤑 it forms/ somehow still perpetuates by somehow using it in how people do pricing.... or just working the fund-raising system, not ideal but give to Caesar his ways and Godly things to God, I guess, choosing battles and who God wants to seed, at the moment, anyways, it is a work in progress of deprogramming to live in accordance to our Catholic Social Teachings in spirit and truth that helps show the way Jesus commanded the disciples to live basic lives.. i would just go with straight donations rather than these means of fundraising... but it's about giving away all one's riches. and they were consecrating their riches/business, etc to serve God and not to make a name or any elitist reason, and shifting to a mentality, of all of what they in their specific milieu deem as "best" for God, as when instead of wearing a beautiful Sunday dress, one wears a La Coste shirt to show one's "best." I was getting it... like the expensive perfume, why is that expensive, etc.. A beautiful mission place, holiness in work and lifestyle. I learned for the first time, about God calling a people.. It is just important to know of ways to express love for God in a communal way. It matters to do it as a people, not just as an individual.. A "personal communal" act, as the Catechism puts it. Catholic doctrine is Truth in other religions and fullness of revelation in Jesus Christ and the Holy Catholic Church having this deposit of faith. Salvation outside of the Catholic Church is obviously possible but fullness of its expression is all about being one with community, full participation in communal life as a worthy member was much of Jesus's ministry. And later, the Holy Spirit letting all know that all people of good will are welcome in this Church. It is not about being Catholic but just giving the opportunity to be a part of the fullness that human societal life can express, with all our hearts, minds and soul. It's about moving as one body and caring for each member as a part of who we are as one Human Race. We care when even if I am an eye if my foot is stubbed and in pain, the whole body is feels the pain. 😇 In this Opus Dei retreat I went to after 20 years since the last retreat (in university), they played "Rome Sweet Home: The Conversion of Scott Hahn" It touched me so much that a Protestant (Presbyterian pastor/dean to be) would give up everything and find the Catholic Church as having the Truth, Way and Life, that I got converted. I was touched when he was touched by the crying lady receiving communion so fervently... and I too wanted that deep relationship with God through the mysterious Sacraments. It was a very interesting 2.5 day retreat that was not even live-in. God was moving mightily through it. I thank God for all the fervent Protestants see the light in the Holy Catholic Church and not just go home or be Luther-in-reverse but even bring in cradle Catholics to know their faith.. 😇The structure and the people who give up their lives to serve God as pastors, ex opere operato, sure, some still need more formation work🤕 but if one looks past the outer cultural manifestations and see the heart, bottom line, (and with spiritual direction, too), we can see the heart is intact, there is still a pearl amidst the gooey entrapments of cultural biases 🙃which is more my plank than maybe the dust I see in these pastors/priests. And with God's grace, we will be able to see through it, call out the twisted manifestation 🤢for some as needed but calling out the light, sincerely and solely as such (positive reinforcement has been deemed more powerful than negative reinforcement, nowadays in creating a 2-in-1 change and guidance not from judgment but just God's justice and order ).. like Jesus and how he sees us pure and beloved despite our social trappings and how just by his seeing the Truth in our nature, the crusted dirt and pooh 💩just dissipates or falls off as false vision and the truth that we are the image and likeness of God is revealed and becomes our truth. Truth begets truth. Peace, bottomline, let the Holy Spirit himself manifest the undeniable truth to us, and all we need to do is respond, follow.. Faith that moves mountains (our mountain of dirt/blindness).. I wish there were paragraph markers hahaha.

Why do you need to focus on a statue to draw your attention to the one who they represent? As a child born into Catholicism, I witnessed many people go to the statues of the church and touch their feet, as they were human sized and high up, and bow their heads to them as they prayed. These statues included the Virgin Mary, Saints, and even Jesus Christ on the cross. Even back then, as young as I was, I wondered why these people were praying to and worshipping these statues. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus, so why pray to Mary or to the saints?

Ответить
@lindap8535
@lindap8535 - 09.01.2024 18:03

I am so sick of Protestants saying we workshop and pray to statues and pray to Mary as if she was a God. We honor Mary being the mother of our savior Jesus Christ. Prayers of intercession is no different than asking friends and family for prayers and as far as statues... any place in the world has statues of famous leaders and even celebrities. Yet Protestants do not consider these statues idol worship! It really boils down to Protestant denomination jealously. They all shout "We have the Bible as authoritie as the word of God. You worship idols." And they spout & memorize scripture as though they have authority to judge and condemn those of the Catholic faith. Anyone can memorize scripture, it's not meant to be used as a weapon to condemn others.
The Catholic church is the church of Jesus Christ.. The Catholic Church is the only church that can claim to have been founded by Jesus Christ personally. Every other church traces its lineage back to a mere human person such as Martin Luther or John Wesley. The Catholic Church can trace its lineage back to Jesus Christ who appointed St. Peter as the first pope, to build his church.
Are they all ignorant and do not know that the canonical books of the Christian Bible were enumerated and approved by various councils, synods, and popes of the Catholic Church? Protestants make these false judgements of Catholics and pass their jealous gossip on and never even stepped or attended a Catholic Church or mass. Do even get me started on their anti-christmas idolatry rhetoric. They all need to pull the stick out of their butts!

@Sola_Scriptura_1.618 - 09.01.2024 05:16

The argument for Exodus 20:4 is not only in the commandment itself but in the fact the Roman Catholic Church modified and then removed it from their Catechism!

If idolatry was justifiable, why remove it from the Catechism?

Catholics are lost because the Church has led them astray!

In Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus resisted the temptations of the devil by quoting Scripture three times, saying “It is written” (v. 4, 7, 10). He did not appeal to any other authority, but relied on the written word of God as his weapon and defense.

In Matthew 5:17-20, Jesus affirmed that he did not come to abolish the Law or the Prophets, but to fulfill them. He said that not the smallest letter or stroke of the pen would disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. He also warned that anyone who breaks or teaches others to break the least of the commandments would be called least in the kingdom of heaven. He showed his high regard for the authority and permanence of Scripture.

In Matthew 15:1-9, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and the teachers of the law for nullifying the word of God by their human traditions. He quoted Isaiah 29:13, saying “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.” He exposed their hypocrisy and their violation of the first commandment by elevating their traditions above Scripture.

In Matthew 22:23-33, Jesus corrected the Sadducees, who denied the resurrection of the dead, by appealing to Scripture. He said, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God” (v. 29). He then quoted Exodus 3:6, where God said to Moses, “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” He argued that God is not the God of the dead, but of the living, and that the Scripture implies the resurrection of the patriarchs. He demonstrated his knowledge and interpretation of Scripture, and its relevance to the doctrine of the resurrection.
In John 5:39-40, Jesus challenged the Jews who searched the Scriptures, thinking that in them they had eternal life, but failed to recognize that the Scriptures testify about him. He said, “You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.” He revealed that the ultimate purpose and goal of Scripture is to point to him, the source of eternal life.
In John 10:34-36, Jesus defended himself against the charge of blasphemy by the Jews, who accused him of claiming to be God. He quoted Psalm 82:6, where God called the unjust judges of Israel “gods”. He argued that if those who received the word of God were called “gods”, how much more could he, whom the Father set apart and sent into the world, be called the Son of God. He said, “If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside—what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world?” He affirmed the truth and authority of Scripture, and its witness to his divine identity.
These are some of the things that Jesus said about Scripture. He showed his respect and submission to Scripture, his understanding and application of Scripture, and his fulfillment and confirmation of Scripture. He also taught his followers to do the same, saying, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32).

Exodus 20:4 (LSB): 4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.

As a Protestant you didn’t say any of the points that Protestants disagree with. Mainly the Rosary and praying to the dead. The vast amounts of worship (yes I know Catholics DONT worship Mary… yes you do). You guys take a verse of praying for one another to full blown praying to dead Saints. You have also taken out of context Mary asking Jesus to make more wine thinking that means she is an intercessor. What did Jesus say to the woman that said blessed is the woman that bore you and nursed you. He downplayed that role so much as to say “blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it”. Keep the sacraments, but do away with all the idols and keep it 100% Jesus and I think we can come back together

On the first verse just having these things to "focus on" is a dangerous thing to do, why would you need something to help you focus on God? Jesus said The Father is looking for those to worship Him in Spirit and Truth.
Use your heart to focus on God.
On the second verse Jesus was referring to the usage of "Holy Father" the same title as what He called God The Father.
When Catholics call the pope "Holy Father" this is what Jesus meant not the biological father.
On the third verse I agree with what you said on that, it is the Saving Grace of The Lord Jesus Christ and not works that save us.
On the fourth verse concerning intercessory prayer we are called to pray for one another and there is nothing wrong with that but it should be for and about the living.
Asking those that have passed on to pray for us could end up being a slippery slope and open up doors to things a Christian shouldn't be involved in.

If you don't worship them...
WHY DO YOU KNEEL BEFORE THEM?
If you understood Scripture you would know that Exodus is A HISTORY OF ISRAEL. Jesus said I came to fulfill the law not to abolish it. His death completed the work God started. Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven. There is NOTHING a human can do to enter heaven on his own. Can't pray enough. Can't give enough. Can't suffer enough. The ONLY thing man can do is Confess with your lips Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart He was resurrected from the dead and you will be saved. Rom 10:9
This guy is fighting for traditions and philosophies created by man when the Bible warns about.
"Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ."
Mary, Joseph, Mark, Paul or any of the other dead humans can't help you through your prayers to them. There is one mediator:
Jesus the Christ.
"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus," 1 Tim 2:5
Nowhere in Scripture will you find Mary or any other "saint" listed as mediator.
The RC did not sprout from the Council of Nicea. It came from the Council of Trent (1200 years later).
Eph does kill the RC.
Else, why do RC go to confess their sins to some guy. Jesus' resurrection wiped our sin (if we confess Him as Lord).
Why do RC believe they must do penance? Jesus blood wiped our sin completley
Why do RC believe they need a priest to intercede for them? Jesus is the ONLY mediator 1 Tim 2:5
Why do the RC one needs confirmation? Jesus sealed us when we confessed Him as Lord Rom 10:9
I could go on but...
You should read Scripture instead of listening to some cult leader that could care less about your sould.

I realised Catholicism was wrong at just 9 years old, a pity that an adult can't understand that.
