The HD 600 is STILL one of the best headphones.

For me tuning is EVERYTHING, HD600 is perfection.

Our ears aren't evolving. We already figured out sound technology physics in the 70's.

I was actually disappointed that the version of the HD 600 I bought was not the marble version. That said, this is still one of my favorite headphones.

I don’t think anything will ever beat my audioquest nightowls for natural presentation but I’m open to trying lol

I have these , I use them for everything in the studio. They are a great headphones top to bottom.

please dont recommend Audeze - there build quality is rather poor, had 3 headphones, all 3 snapped in the same spot. Audeze not helping with 3rd set.

I bought the 650’s 7 years ago. They are absolute legends and a superior value for the money. I have some added Focal Clear’s and Audeze LCD-2’s to my collection. The 650’s are such an easy choice for a warm, neutral, fatigue free sound. Just beautiful.

HD 560s would kill this headphone at an instant. And is way cheaper....

I've had my HD 650s for years now, they are basically a part of my body now. Highly recommend them. Now if only I could stop the wire from snagging perfectly on the frame of my Aeron when i get up from my desk..

100% agree on every points you've made on these headphones. To me the biggest downside is definitely the dynamics, they can sound a bit compressed on heavy transient music. I don't exactly know how they were built but I reckon this might simply be explained by a small driver.

my og 650 is still going on almost 20 years. My hifimans can't even make it past 2 years without crapping out.

I prefer open-back wireless. I have the RS 180 and RS 185. I don't think Senn makes any current wireless open-back models.

There is a headphone like the HD600 but with noticable more bass extension: The Sennheiser HD58x. It sounds close to the 600 but the bass goes down below 30 Hz at -3dB, that's pretty good, I think. Did you ever try it?

Great Review. I have one question and it's a bit nerdy. I have a pair of Bose Soundlinks that I absolutely cannot get the earpads replaced. They have a groove that I can't get the pads into. I've seem many videos' that show that the Sennheiser pads just pop into place with a little pressure. I just want to confirm this. Ready to buy but don't want to spend $300 if I'm going to not be able to replace the pads. Thanks much for a response. Much appreciated.

whats the difference between the 600 the 6xx and the 650?
i see the 6xx/650 often listed as the same, and they apparentl cost the same, around 200usd in the us.
in germnay i can get the 6xx from drop for around 210 but the hd650 cost 499 from sennheiser and 399 from thomann. they cant be the same no?

Yeah...but I just ordered the HD 660s for 300 euro, NEW.

So I've got a plethora of common studio headphones... audio techica ATH-M50X, Sony 7506, Senn HD600, Byerdynamic DT990 Avantone MP-1 and a few other mid grade consumer based headphones including Audio technica ATH-A550z (which are actually my favorites for just regular music listening.

Of these headphones, the HD600s are the cans that offer the most consistent 1:1 transition to my studio monitors. I use Dynaudio LYD48s and Neumann KH120 in my studio by the way.. With the HD600, whatever changes i make in either monitor sounds the same on the cans and vice versa!

My previous monitors which were basically budget project studio monitors were a nightmare to get a somewhat consistent translation with my headphones. This was compounded by each of those headphones having a totally different sound profile. This led to me to not being sure which listening device i could trust.

The HD600s more closely resembles what I'm hearing in my LYDs and Neumanns. As a result I'm rarely picking up the other headphones to check mixes on. If i get it sounding right on the HD600s i know it will work on my studio monitors and vice versa.

I'm not saying they are the best headphones out there, but the tonality and balance just seems to work well for me. No matter what headphones you have, i think it's definitely worth having a pair of these in your headphone locker. 💯💯💯

I had the marble one. sold it due to poor condition. I used them quite hardcore.

This Headphone does NO sub bass at all? lol, that's a useless Headphone to me then and certainly not worth the price, especially considering the other awesome Sennheiser Headphones that can reach 6HZ out of the box, and at a much lower price

My first time listening to mine was like drinking a glass of cold water on a hot day after drinking nothing but soda all day. Refreshingly neutral and clear. Definitely not as fun as say, HD25’s, but it’s nice to take a break from the in your face sound I’m used to

The Acoustic Rabbit Hole asks your opinion: if these headphones are generally neutral, would not these be decent monitoring/mixing headphones?

I've only had the HD650, but while the sound was ok and they looked premium, the build quality wasn't at all. The grille was weak and quickly bent in several places, the (of course proprietary) cable was poorly moulded and broke, they were like a vise on your head, and weren't even light. I much preferred what I later got from Bose & Sony.

I bought new pads for my HD6XX. Feel much cleaner 😂

Not only the dynamic , is about the sound density and texture is not substantial enough. because Sennheiser is not using any good driver like DLC / aluminum LCP (sony flagship driver material) / Ceramic coated PEEK (Pioneer patent ) or Nano Carbon (Denon D9200 driver material ). The one HD600 using is ordinary driver material only where the S2 has improve a bit.

Sound tuning and texture refinement is two different field consideration. But still, your review are not quite there. i'm sorry. Sennheiser do happy to see your compliment video for sure.

Love my Hd600 headphones, they even work well with my Sony phone.

WAY back when, I started with the HD540 reference 600 ohm, then the 580 , then the 600 (you guessed it - blue marble which I still have ) & now a 2nd new 600. I use Dekoni fenestrated sheepskin pads on the marble for added "something" for my home movie experience & stock pads on the new one for more neutrality. Do you happen to know why they would advertise 1.8 mT magnetic field strength (Edit: neodymium mags). Is that bragging OR warning? Thanks for the great vid.
