Top 10 MOST UNDERRATED Movies of 2024

For me, two highly underrated movies of 2024 are Cuckoo and Los Frikis.

The second act of monkey man kills the movie. The first act is phenomenal and the third act is pretty good but the 2nd is an absolute slog that brings the momentum to a screeching halt and it takes forever to get going again. Having a convent of trans people just made no sense in this movie and once again felt like an agenda inserted into something just for the sake of it. I have nothing against that community but it was bewildering in this particular story. I still think the movie is decent but man it could have been amazing.

The promised land is my favorite movie this year!
I also loved Monkey Man.
I’ll have to catch up with this others 😊

Oddly enough I have seen every one of those films except La Chimera and Christopher Reeve doc. I agree on every one of those, though pretty meh on Monkey Man. So now I must see those two films. I would add New Life, Dogman, and Strange Darling to the list. My favorite on her list is Promised Land. I just loved that old fashioned epic historical drama done so well.

Another check in Monkey Man's column is some absolutely incredible trans representation. Loved it!

People who say no food movies are being made today are fools who fo nothing but watch on repeat the movies they watched as teens and are drunk on their own nostalgia. I have no pacience nor respect for such people.

Last Stop In Yuma County is like low budget Western thriller until the ending where it turns into a Tarantino esque dogfight, and I was all fucking for it 😂

A Different Man's Adam Pearson has been in several films including one with Scarlett Johansson-Jost, Under the Skin.

The best movies this year were "The Beast", "I Saw the TV Glow", "Poor Things" and "The Substance"

La chimera came out in 2023.

Glad someone else is mentioning Omen, I think this is the best one since the original and the production and acting are so good. One of the best movie experiences of the year

Check out the performance by Daisy Ridley in Sometimes I think of Dying. It is sadly underappreciated and over-looked.

Thank you for "The Promised Land" recommendation. I watched it the same night I watched this video and thought it was an amazing movie. I've always liked Mads Mikkelsen from when I first saw him in Casino Royale, and thought he was magnetic in this movie.

Caddo Lake is criminally underrated imo, and not many people talk about this hidden gem.

Monkey Man is very good.

I almost forgot about MadS. I watched it after watching this video and that was so epic. It was my favorite movie of 2024 (but watched in 2025)

"The Order" with Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult belongs on an "underrated" list too.

Ok, more for my "to watch" list. Great!!! Did you know, the actor with the disfigured face in A Different Man is wearing no makeup. He has a disfiguring condition, and was also seen in "Under the Skin".

I'm glad you enjoyed The First Omen so much. As I mentioned in the comments of your 2024 top ten video, The First Omen was my number six best film of 2024 (and Monkey Man was number eight). :D

I think Monkey Man is a masterpiece, in the oldfashioned sense of the word. In the sense of an apprentice making a piece that includes all the techniques he's learned in order to become a master within the guild. That's the meaning of all those references to me, at least.

Why I haven't seen this channel yet? It's great!

The First Omen was one of the biggest surprises of the year

Wow! These recommendations lost all credibility at The Omen prequel, especially if these were in order of merit. I cannot believe how amateurish that movie is, on all fronts of its production, I couldn’t even finish it.

I liked Promised Land! The villain felt a little cliche but Mads is always captivating.

"Last Stop in Yuma County" was a perfectly executed noir crime thriller with a PERFECT ENDING.
Utterly masterful, seamless plotting and a truck load of fun.

Most of the Films I saw this year were a little over-hyped like authors write rave reviews of other writers work to get people into the bookstores think they are slightly overrating movies to get people back in to The Cinema!!!
