Shortly after the 1998 ruling, Channel 4 in the UK bravely aired a documentary at 0300. I had hitherto been unaware of this event. It traced the route taken by protesters, some as young as 14. These were areas in Paris I was familiar with, including a youth hostel where I had stayed a few years earlier. What sets this apart from the usual acts of shame possessed by most countries, is that in this case it is shared by the international community as well as the general population who witnessed this and said nothing. All protected France. One might have expected the British to do this, but not the United States, Soviet Union and China. The only nation to cover this event in any depth was Hungary which can at least claim credit. Maurice Papon did more than let it happen. He visited a number of arrested protesters crammed into the cells and expressed surprise to the police officers that they were still alive.

Reading the book Revolusi from van reybrouck about Indonesian revolution and the domino effect that came with it through out the colonial world in Asia and Africa also the bandung conference the first conference of colored people and how the colonial master make a decision over their colony in the rise of nationalism in Asia and Africa, very good book even write in the western perspective (neutral belgian perspective).

Whenever I watch videos about the history of Algeria, I grieve for those who were killed unjustly, and yet I rejoice because we were not defeated, but we had heroes like Larbi Ben M’hidi, Emir Abdelkader, and Lafatima N’Soumer....they are truly so great that they cannot be described. I love you.

Algeria knows in history that France does not fulfill its promises and that what was taken by force cannot be returned to me by force, just as it entered as we have to remove it, and that God is with truth, determination and patience a wonderful weapon known to the greats
