So now you can pair a 7800 Xt with a 7800 X3d. such naming

You conduct inadequate tests that have no practical use. No one buys a 4900 to play at 1080p on medium graphics settings. At least test the games in 2k with ultra graphics settings, and 4k if you have already taken such a card.

So gaming is topped by the 7800X3D, while production is all 13900K(S)? That makes it hard to pick one chip to rule them all...

Absolute best channel, however reviewing a CPU, or GPU, and not including the midrange sku from each generations up to 4-5 years is not useful for the average consumer. I'm here looking at charts and have no idea how my I7-9700K, or a 9600K or 9900K, would perform and if upgrading would be worthwhile. If my CPU cannot achieve 120 or 144 FPS in today's games, then it would be nice to know I need to consider upgrading. Keep the good work.

I would really like to see the frametime charts for other cpu's either. I want to see how they compare, frametime readings are one of the most important aspects of a cpu. Please include them in later videos.

You can test through a repetition 🤔

I must have a bad motherboard or cpu because my 7800x3d Temps are all over the place at idle. From 47 to 85 and not even running any thing. Just opening a browser sends the Temps to 80.

I have a question, what specs do you use to test all your benchmarks, because I understand that you must use the same each time to get a fair result

This is an extremely hot take, but I'm assuming the human eye can't register frames much past the 250 to 275 range. I would assume after you achieve that frame-per-second interval then it doesn't really matter how much higher you go after that.

I do a i7 6th generation, therefore trying to upgrade...loving Ryzen 7800x3D results (along RTX 3070, that will solve my gaming problem in 4k for the next years). The problem is, I ain't no kid anymore and I am planning doing some heavy workloads w/ PC, developing games/photorealistic arts using blender/Zbrush/Unreal Engine and, the I9 13900k/ks still holds the best...w/ 24c/36t 1st-3rd in gamging, 1st-3rd in Cinerbenches, Rendering, Polygon manipulation..However, that power consumption is scary... x2 or even x3 in some benchmarks, when full loaded with/without overclocking, and, since am a gamer and PC fanboy since 1985, keeping it on 18hrs/7, power consumption come into play. Overall, the 7950x3D is the best solution for me, with those 1st-2rd FPS/Compiling/Polygon/Rendering times PLUS incredible low power consumptions. However again, the prices come into play.. I live in Brasil and 7800x3D costs about 3000 R$ (616$) i9 13900k 4100 R$( 841$) and the fk'ing 7950x3D 5000 R$ (1026$). As you can see, Brasillians have to care way more about prices and overhyped power consumption and at the same pace, when upgrading...once changing from 1151 to 1700 or am5 plus ddr4 to ddr5, will cost as insane. You can buy a used motorcycle or car here, with 1026$.. On the other hand, the 5800x3d sounds a cool solution overrall(1900R$= 390$), and, even though being a outdated AM4 socket, cheaper. I could do 5800x3d + 128gb ram 3600 plus a mid-range/top motherboard, yet, save about 1400$.............against a AM5 motherboard/water cooler 360/DDR5 64gb 6000mhz upgrade.

Big deal, sucks being poor kkk

You're the first channel i encountered that gives a serious no-bullshit comparison that actually acknowledges that although people might like to play games, they're not ALL about games. I am not a kid anymore. I'm 38. I have many other uses for my PC, including work - which happens to be software engineering.
I want my PC to operate in blazing fast speeds at the silliest things as well as some work related stuff: program loading times, browsing, building docker images, running ML related code or building other kind of CPU heavy tasks.

And yes, I also like to play OW2, POE, D4 and maybe other games, but that doesn't mean i wanna take a 25% hit in performance and pay a higher price for a CPU for that.

The only advantage FOR ME for the 7800x3d is the lower power consumption, but then again -- considering its not up to par with regards to actual CPU-heavy tasks, that's not surprising...

How about you Steve sort CPUs by 1% lows , who cares about AVG fps count, try playing games when your fps jumps from 100 to 180fps all the time. The AVG fps measure is the most useless and should be the last on the list.

Regarding driver gremlins, I'm about to go from an i5 9600 to the 7800x3d. I was really hoping to just plop the old HD onto the new MB and let it sort itself out. Since we're talking INTEL vs AMD drivers, can I safely assume if the computer boots normally I won't run into this hidden gremlin?

I have been holding back on this kind of "upgrade" for a while and this is why. If I want to be practical intel, is good and if I game AMD is fine. No beef here but if I have to wait a little longer for a process to complete (AMD), so be it. The lower energy consumption may be worth it over 5 years. As I was shopping for my next build, the 7950 x3d ads kept coming in with incentives.
The tipping point for me is, when I fire up a game that I want to play and have fun, do I really need extra fps? It's unlikely. But that is my use case.

GN is really making a difference because the variables for each of us, in a real world application, are presented in the data. You game lots, here is the data. You don't game lots, here is the data. Power consumption is the issue, here is the data. Power consumption is not an issue, here is your data. Are you rich, not so much, a developer, a home user, a mechanic, a 3d printer...look at the data. And the best part about GN, if you find a flaw in the data...drop it on them. They seem to eat this up.

In the end there is a balance between cpu, mobo, ram, cooling, m.2, psu and gpu. And the topic of the physical space you have available is not considered in our conversation. And the prices are going up because of supply chain issues. The GN team is providing a service. And if you consider the environmental impact of choosing the right parts, GN can change that too.

Thanks for the information on this platform.

I'm looking for a new PC and weighing 13700K and 7800X3D against each other. At the moment, AMD is cheaper (432€ vs 402€), performs a bit better in most video games and just destroys intel in terms of power consumption. Easy decision.

The thing I'm unsure about righ now is cooling. For 13700K I would've used an aio 360mm for all the energy it draws. even the best air coolers seem to be at their limits occasionally. Can, say the be quiet dark rock pro 4 or noctua NH-D15 more easily handle the 7800X3D?

If yes, that would be even more money saved for better game performance...

I cant go intel because the E-cores mess with Star Citizen(not really intel's fault, but its a problem nonetheless), glad to see this holds up across the board to replace my 10900k, 95%+ of what i use it for will be gaming, no reason to question it

I would love to go AMD for my next build, but I can’t justify the cost of a mini ITX AMD board with thunderbolt 4.

My entire setup goes through a single TB4 dock. Going this route adds ~20-25% cost to a build over a 13600K. This makes me sad.

I guess it is the cats meow if you only game. Must be nice to have that luxury. But the 7950X3D has NOT been dethroned and every chart proves that if you do more than gaming and want a CPU that is nearly the best at everything and definately if you care about Intels insane power draws.
