Hey Rick, you sound a little stoned at .75x — all good, kind of a cool 70s rock vibe. I can’t recommend you at .5x though, it turns into a lecture for bass players at that speed.

The missing piece is always the fact that the chords are called major or minor because of the accidentals and intervals that build those chords. Just going from this is C Major and then "all major chords are called this way" is a bit confusing. Still, I´m binge-watching these theory videos from Rick.

not gonna lie, the only reason your videos make sense is bc of my elementary formal piano training as a tiny tot and because i was doing these ear training exercises before i knew what they were called when i was like 8/9/10 years old 😅😅😅

I swear nobody is going to actually explain what "music theory" is they just start blabbing jibberish they assume you are going to understand. It's like going to someone to learn what "mathematics" is and they start doing a an advanced formula in front of you assuming you are going to understand but it just looks like chicken scratch because my question was "what is it?" Does nobody on this planet know how to teach something without getting lost in their own ego or w/e the fck people's problem is that keeping them from explaining wtf is it first?

Thank you so much Rick. You have truly expanded my musical horizons and given me lots of ideas to run with. As a drummer, much of this information went beyond what I studied. Your channel and instruction materials have opened up many doors creatively for me and I understand some of my most beloved songs in a way that I never have before. I am most thankful for your channel and the things that I have learned.

The Beatles probably never realized most of this stuff (at least I like to think so) - but they for sure had great ears and were not afraid to snatch a chord progression from here, there and everywhere:) Don´t get me wrong, I do find this lecture interesting - 50 years too late, but most interesting.

I was taught that a suspended chord means that you suspend the third or you delete the Third. Like being suspended from school. The number of the suspended chord indicates what note you're replacing the third with. It cracks me up that people call it a sus chord. Why don't we calls them dim chords or aug chords? LOL probably because if you call that a suspended second, you would think you need to suspend the second instead of suspending the Third replacing it with a 2nd.
