CRYSTAL- One Dollar Pizza (Official Music Video)

i made this video with my friends at the end of summer. we drove up to himatangi beach one weekend and had a lil holiday. we went to the beach and swam, went boogie boarding and got ice-cream during the day. then, in the afternoon, drove down to the sand dunes at foxton beach to shoot. the sand dunes during sunset were so beautiful, the kind of thing u experience where u forget any of your worries or responsibilities. u just fully immerse yourself in the joy of the experience. we stopped filming half way through the video to sit in the dunes and eat fish and chips, one of my favourite memories from summer.

the song itself is super special to me. it's about a family holiday to new york city a few years ago. it was the first time I had visited as an adult. i was obsessed with gossip girl for a long time, and seeing nyc in real life felt like a dream; overwhelming but in the most exciting way. once we returned home from the trip it was hard not to feel like life was mundane and my world, super small. at the time, I had just finished up my first year studying commercial music and was starting to get serious about music production. i spent the summer writing lyrics, and producing demos about my holiday experiences and how they made me feel because I felt so inspired. i needed to document everything while it was still so vivid. this formed the bones of 'one dollar pizza'. my good friend alex and I worked on this song for a couple years before it was released- i'd go to his flat or he'd come over to my parents house in the evening. in between, we'd get food, go for drives, enjoy each others company and making music which excited us.
