Conveniently forgetting China entirely... Zero waste dumped, just like zero coof deaths.

It's fascinating that some people just didn't think about the possibility that dumping literal chemical weapons into the sea isn't the best idea.

It's hard not to notice those old PSA clips about pollution are completely focused on individuals causing what is mostly from corporations... I wonder who funded these clips 🙄😮‍💨

Whenever anyone is “shocked” by human behaviors, one simply concludes they are too naive to be taken seriously.

Stop expecting companies to pay for things from the past. Their profits weren’t calculating clean up which means we paid less for the product, half to 3/4 of them no longer exist, it will cost more in court to make them clean it than to just clean it to begin with.

So yeah, half the world is praising more nuclear energy, yet the waste is an issue that doesn't just go away in a few decades or even hundreds of years. So …. hurray nuclear energy? I've heard all the arguments for going nuclear, but between the waste, the possibility for accidents, natural disasters causing even worse accidents and let's not forget the human terrorist elements, make me scratch my head as to why so many think that thousands of years of land and sea contamination is worth the risk? Frankly, until we can neutralize nuclear contamination, I just don't believe it's the better choice. I have little hope for mankind anyway, money is the only real god of man and money is what's pushing nuclear energy rather than self-sufficient houses because a centralized group can't make as much if we are self-sufficient.

Not enough importance or attention is brought to just how essential the oceans are to all life on earth, lots of emphasis on planting trees combating forest fires and adressing the pollution right in front of our faces when the oceans should well and truly be our first priority. We could deforest every square meter of forest on earth it would be catastrophic sure but life would go on because phytoplankton are the largest oxygen producers on the planet and deep sea sediment is by far the largest carbon sink on eath along with currents regulating temperature and distributing nutrients. Land and forests are still worth protecting but if we let the oceans die life on earth dies with them and it wont matter how many trees we plant or how much pollution we clean up if we keep distrupting the ecology of our oceans with ruthless overfishing

China is building coal-fired power plants faster than everyone else combined. If we don't hold them accountable for that, NOTHING we do to curtail our emissions matters. All it will do is make our industry even less competitive than it already is. This isn't a "boogyman." It's reality. Sometimes reality sucks, but it is what it is.

I'm not worried about nuclear isotopes in the oceans. Comparatively, it's minuscule compared to what the ocean naturally receives from runoff and what's already in the sea floor.

While it's interesting to hear, you make no claim nor no effort to demonstrate the scientific aspects of your assertions, that each dumping is bad. Which chemicals stick in the oceans and cause damage? Which are problematic? While some may truly be horrible, it might be that some of the "chemicals" dumped have no impacts on the ocean. If you don't add any scientific caveats you're just making a fear mongering video that actually tells us very little about what's been done. I'm not an environmentalist but I do care about the ocean and harm done to the environment. Your video has very little value to credibility in assertions. Please do better in the future, I'm a fan and this video is a let down.

I'm disappointed that so little has been accomplished. I did a study in the late 70's and all those barrels were as issue then. We have seen exponential growth since then with only token solutions. Knowing what needs done doesn't help if we can't change the systems polluting the planet. Industrialism will fight tooth and nail against effective solutions.

There's something I would like to add to this disturbing, but real account to this video.
The oceans cover 70% of our planet and thanks to advances in science and technology, we are able to desalinate them to produce even potable water for our survival, let alone attempts to harvest the icebergs floating all over the Arctics.
Water from the ocean has been processed for a long time already and it can solve many of our problems, but if on top of salt (a natural mineral) we have to filter nuclear waste and all of the other contaminants that end up in the oceans due to our "advanced" way of life, we are doomed.

We, the common folks literally don't have a say on these matters simply because we have no real control of what our elected (or not) governments decide how we all should be using our resources.

This present craziness must stop before it is too late, even if we all have to limit our so called modern comforts and false sense of security.
Greetings from Toronto.

The reason there isn't more done with regards to stopping water pollution, or at least seriously curbing it, is because as you mention in your video, the people (nations) that rely on marine life, either as their main source of food or their main source of income/employment, are not the same countries that cause the most pollution! ;) The one's that solely or mainly rely on this, are countries that don't have the power to change the situation!

im sure we have all seen the documentaries on the Edwardian and Victorian Era's, and had the same thoughts I did,... How did we survive that? Radium in everything, and worse..... then we come to this? Why are we always damning ourselves in every Era of human civilisation? We have to do better people, the ones in charge need to be held accountable and do something about all of this. Stupid Humans.
