First, and I gave the first like also.
ОтветитьHi friend. I don't really want to expose too much about myself, but I have been in Russia for ~9 years and have permanent residency. I also consider myself having "conservative" values and I am Orthodox. I pretty much agree with everything you said...the expat community is thinking this is paradise and that they will grasp the language well enough to function without putting in work or serious studies. From my experience, the real struggle comes about 3-4 years into living here, once the honeymoon phase is over. Maybe that is just me!
Personally, I never associated with any of the expats living here, pre-war or post. Mostly because I am not an English teacher or sexpat.
I'm guessing you aren't a fan of P's government, due to the sarcastic remarks and such. Why did you stay after the war or for this long? I think it's ok to be critical, but it's not like weird stuff isn't happening in the west as well (politically and culturally).
The most sober and well-informed expat channel. You get a new subscriber, hi from Stalingrad 💪
ОтветитьWith all the respect, sir. You are not a smartest guy in town.
The decree is an act of psycho-historical war against the west. The political instability will increase. The actual warfare will follow.
Also, it is the act of "demographical vampirism".
3 years is just OK to get the basics of language. There won't be enough time for a long and complex discussions at the trenches.
Also also, the middle Asia immigration flood is clearly over.
And there is still a lot of low tier work to do.
3 things for pitiful poor B2 western immigrant to do in Russia:
- newborns
- battle work
- simple work that actual Russians avoids
Until you get cultured.
Aside from your very honest and useful and insights, I love your condescending humor. 😅
ОтветитьWhat are you talking about? Russia was always the country of traditional values! There were never any acceptance of LGBT propaganda or gay marriages in Russian society.
ОтветитьI have been studying Russian, but it is not my intention to move to Russia. At least not now, I love my current job and I have some obligations that need to be filled. I do worry as you do that having people move without any or very little understanding of the language is not a good idea. I could possibly pass the speaking and listening portion of the exam, but not the written at this point. I will keep studying the language and culture for myself. Thank you for your open and honest break down of the process.
ОтветитьLike in almost any country...if you want to move somewhere to work and live...
Its a complicated question, and any complicated question need to be solved with cold mind.
What american family ? The Canadian family recived tha status
ОтветитьPutin's decree is equivalent of accepting political/ideological refugees, similar to what the West once had about people attempting to immigrate from USSR i guess. Except it seems better in some ways.
ОтветитьI'm a Pakistani student interested in pursuing a master's program in Biochemistry or Biotechnology in Russia. Can you guide me on:
1. Scholarship opportunities for international students?
2. Admission requirements for master's programs in Russia?
3. Job prospects in biology-related fields after graduation in Russia?
Have you ever been robbed in the street of Moscow
ОтветитьYours is a cross between cynicism and sobriety, but I really appreciate the sobriety. A lot of people don't understand that the 'traditional values' thing is partly a marketing approach; the world is polarizing so the Kremlin chose this opposite pole.
It is partly real, too. Russia never went 'full liberal' culturally and so in that sense is 'more traditional'. It is the irony of the century that the fetters of communism slowed things down enough for the ex-USSR to find itself a mile from the cliff's edge, instead of careening over it.
the deal with the decree is that within western countries for decades there has been a quiet agreement to not brain-drain each other. this is why it's so difficult for Americans to move to EU and likewise. Russia, being part of this community, participated in that. Now that they have extracted themselves from that they are no longer obligated to follow the rules of being in that community and as such are going to open up migration from western countries. Russia of course has a labor shortage and this is a very good solution for them to import skilled and culturally compatible people who they expect will integrate reasonably well. the specific language of the decree and the terminology is a combination of marketing and spitting into the eye of the Western governments who have, in the russian governments view, treated them poorly. hope that context helps!
ОтветитьComplications shall disappear soon due to latest government statements. Especially those silly ones.
ОтветитьWhat about teaching business english or english to the kids of oligarchs, I guess this isnt a thing anymore since covid and the conflict :(

ОтветитьAfter 3 years, you apply again for years if you do not wanna learn language
