I think nothing about this kind of videos can be taken for sure cause in Spain, for example, depending on where you are from you could use a different word for the same thing. For example, in Canarias we use "cholas" for the flip-flops or "Roscas/Cotufas" (oriental islands use Roscas and occidental ones, cotufas) for Popcorn.

And is not just Canarias, the south and the north of Spain are so different in so many levels that we have different words for each situation, as Latin American countries do I guess. But it's interesting to watch these videos and see the interaction between people from different countries and the laughs about certain words

My Spanish teacher was Cuban, and he was always ready to explain the slang and alternatives for words in his country. After which he would start comparing it to other countries in Latin America along with Spain, definitely one of my favourite classes I've ever taken.

In Mexico, popcorn is called “palomitas , literally little pigeons because they are white and they fly. “Volar” (literally to fly) Can also be used metaphorically when something runs out very quickly, as if it flew away, which normally happens to popcorn as everybody starts eating from the same box or plate.

“Papalote” has Nahuatl origin. “Papalotl” means butterfly in Nahuatl.

In Mexico words vary by different regions as well for example in my region in Mexico we normally say “chivitas” more often than “palomitas”
