Dude... you only put Akai products in the top tier. This is bias at work. You didn't even mention the 1010 Blackbox, you left out the Octatrack, and a strong argument could be made that the Digitakt is superior to anything Akai does with samplers. I give your tier list a B.

Iv got the novation circuit rhythm and the p.o KO nice to see them in the good section the KO it's not what I would call great but I like going walks and making beats while I walk and it's great for that ..the novation rhythm is limited but works for me iv only had it 5 days and it's a beast ..all probably update to an MPC eventually

Bro I’m starting to think you’re getting delirious. You put the Volca ahead of the Model Samples when the Volca has smaller sample time, and no midi out. That’s crazy. Then you put both of those ahead of the MV1 which you keep comparing to samplers when it isn’t even a sampler. Yeah you can on it and it’s super clunky but it’s not it’s real function. It’s really just a studio (basic one) but a studio in a box that you can literally make a complete song start to finish in which most of these others can’t. Your bias in your reviews are becoming too much for you to be a reliable source anymore. Peace

lmao. This is more like - Best tier - What I use. Good tier - what I've used once or twice. Meh tier - what i hate because its in direct competition with the MPC.

I'd move both the Digitakt and the SP-404 mk2 up a tier. They're my two favourite pieces of equipment. I agree with the critcism of the limited storage on the Digitakt, and the clunky workflow on the SP, but they are the instruments I use the most.

I could understand how somebody could come to that force conclusion. I will state now, its better than the others... but if we are focusing on just sampling, I understand that it is a lot. Anymore I just use it as a sequencer for the walls of keyboards I have with the benefit of having drum sounds ITB.

MV-1 is not a Sampler. It’s not even really a groovebox. It’s it’s own thing. Nothing else is as focused and capable of completing records from start to master on device and the price is great. MV-1 x SP404 MK2 together cost less than M+ or Live 2 and the combo is much funner, powerful and flexible.

The 404 mk2 can kick akais ass easily after you learn how to use it. You can offer me an mpc x for it and I would trade. Sell the x and by 2 mk2s for the money. 😁

Seriously, it is a great creative device. The akais are not really inspiring machines.

Roland MC-707, Roland Fantom 06, Korg korss 2, Electribe 2 sampler?

I don't know if this way of valuing hardware parts is more of a personal love-hate towards those machines or towards the brands.

You left out key samplers like the Korg Korss2, which is a legacy of the Triton Extreme, and the Triton Le, with its 16-track sub.

Roland Fantom 06,07,08, are the eternal competition of Yamaha Motif and Kurzweil material, with 16-track sequencer to create complete songs with arranger and more detailed than an 8-track MPC X. (to hell with the individual outputs, I never use them on my original Rolad TR-8S, let alone other machines)

You forget about the Electribe 2 sampler and the MC-707 which is also an SP sampler with internal 90FX to play with its knobs and faders, it has an 8 track sequencer with 8 cumulative loops on each, similar to what ableton live's loop mode can do.

In the AZZ section! You are not able to put a single thing, it is very rare, because more than one thing in the options of your team is AZZ!

for me AZZ!! It's anything that gives me a pain in the ass is discarded.

The Microfreak thing with 4 note polyphony is ridiculous, I can't stop laughing about this, it's just a basic granular player that doesn't capture audio, and we could cite other similar or more esoteric things like Wavestate, ModWave, Waldorf iridium, Waldorf Blofeld (this makes the 16 mod deep synth for 2 sample players in a single preset each as a 16 bit oscillator source, no waldorf has that and is the most polyphonic waldorf nia, with 25 voices, and polyaftetouch with a 25-voice polyphonic harpifier/sequencer, which has been on the market for over 13 years).

I would go on to mention another sampler and key looper like the Roland Juno DS (XPS30 upgrade) with Juno sounds in the module and very good piano sounds coming from integra7 and with a VT vocoder that can be tuned with sounds from the internal LoopStation style looper module for audio and midi, 8 track sequencer.

The Kurzweil K2700, which is another beast and also packs a 16-track key sampler sequencer with rubber pads, is more expensive than an MPC-X for many reasons, but that doesn't fall for the eyes like an MPC with a giant color screen and retro MPC packaging, looks seem to matter more than technology.

But new generation MPC is good for making beats, maybe because people are just looking for some kind of trendy product on the internet, but if it's good for hands-on use and live keyboards for keyboard players, the NordWave is another cool thing that uses samples and wavetables, much more expensive and better than the Microfreak.

I do not know, I see that the market offers many exclusive things, even workstations like Kurzweil PC4-7, but do not forget that an Apple Ipad could be the piece of gods where everything is possible, whatever you want you have, there is a perfect screen of great precision for fingerprints and dirt where it is not a problem to continue playing great.

Greetings and thanks for the video.

Some of these devices are not classified as drum samplers, and if the goal was to compare drum samplers, then focus on the drum sampling features of the device, not workflow, etc.

I have 3 of the ones on your list, MPC One, SP404mkll and Maschine+. I agree with you on most things about each unit. The SP has the worst workflow of all of them. Although I haven’t had the problems of crashes that people have with the Maschine+, I’m just like, when TF are we going to get a new update? I mean it’s been almost what, 2 ,3 years since the last update? C’mon NI, stop the nonsense already.

Two boxes that I think you overlooked. First is the 1010music BlackBox. Others have already commented. I’d have it in Good because it doesn’t have a built in battery. If it had a built in battery it would compete with everything in the great class.
Second… Gotharman’s SpazeDrum. It allows you to use samples, is a digital monosynth, and has a built in analog drum synth that supports 4 different sounds at once. It also has a bevy of great sounding filters. I’d place it in the great category.
I’d have to put the Volca Sample II in Basic AF. I had one until I sold it.
