Plotinus, a Greek Platonist philosopher, is considered the founder of Neoplatonism. He was born and raised in Roman Egypt around 204/5 – 270 CE. Plotinus was a student of the self-taught philosopher Ammonius Saccas, who was part of the Platonic tradition. His teachings and philosophies have had a significant impact on the development of Western philosophy.
