My sister's Great Pyrenees became so agrresive to other people that she had to put him down.
He was a great big gorgeouse fog with an excellent pedigree.
However, as he aged he began to bite people, as if he was gauarding my sister.
Eventually he bit a Realtor's arm to the bone! (Hed already biten our neice and friends of my sister's children.
His protectiveness became agression

Great Pyrenees are much bigger than what the internet says. My puppy is almost a year and already 115. He will end up between 140 to 160. Thats about the weight most run. Although ive seen many that are an in shape 180 to over 200 pounds

Under number three you mention the Tibetan Mastiff, while the Šarplaninac (colorful dog) appears on the video. The Šarplaninac is a little-known breed that definitely should have been on the list of the top 5 livestock guardian dogs as well as caucasian sheperd.

Great video!
I've had many lgd and they are fabulous dogs. I currently have an akbash x kuvasz x pyrenees (looks and exhibits the akbash behaviors) and she's the best hiking buddy. I've owned 3 great Pyrenees. 2 of them were certified therapy dogs. I also owned a pyrenees x collie which was very friendly. And an anatolian shepherd cross which was also certified therapy dog.
I've met an armenian gamper on a sheep farm, what a dog!
My friend got some marema cross, they are fantastic too!
All of this to say that I'm sold on lgds, they are the bestest dog

Ahhhh killin' me. You lead off with a non existent breed. Anatolian Shepherd is used by Turkish people to say mixed breeds of the Anatolian region. There is no such thing as a purebred Anatolian Shepherd. The dog you are in fact showing in the first frames is a Kangal and not for a beginner. The rest were mutts so I supposed the term was appropriate except most didn't look like LGD mixes. The Kangal is the nation dog of Turkey. Shame you missed the Akbash which is superior for livestock.

Husbandry needs observation and commentary. And you should use true methods.
Especially sellers sell breeds so called kangal instead of original kangal. Especially kangal dogs have totally different body structure and behavior from the other dogs. They are very closed to wolves in terms of shape and instinct. in addition for good management of herd you should obey some unwritten rules. You should be well orginesed with the dogs individually and the breeders. This is to manage like an army. Every Herds should have only three dogs one of them female. female always stay at the centre of herd. Males always search and observe region. Females are faster than males. Thus when the attack starts first female can catche the wolves and than males crush the wolves. The first rule was this. second is three dogs is enough. İf some one adds more dog in their packs, crowded one dominated the others' packs. Third one you should choose the dogs among the bravest not biggest. How do you choose bravest? With natural selections. Dog fights are very common and it helps to natural selections for next generation. While the female dogs are in their period all dogs come and want to mate with her. But there are a lot of competetors. And dog fight Begins. female chooses the winner among them. So you have the strongest generation. one more hint when you choose a puppy among puppies you put a fox in front of them. Choose whichever dare to attack the fox.
On the other hand kangal and akbash are cost effective breeds. They can consume dog food so called "yal" the cheapest food produced from barley flour. If you think they eat so much food you can not cope with the meat cost. Unless give meat the other breeds they don't stay healthy. But kangal do.
Last but not least you should cut the ears of dogs. Ears are the weakest organ of dogs. In case of fight wolves can catch the dog from their ears.
This is the successful system which has been applied in Anatolia since ancient time.

Beautiful dogs. I am looking for a breed fit for goats, sheep and chickens. Something that can work in heat and cold. Arizona gets hot and up north some cold nights. We get a lot of coyotes and mt lions. I would need one that is built like a tank but gentle with our animal's. What would be the best breed? God bless

If I had a farm with sheep 🐑, goats 🐐, or cattle 🐄, I would do a mix of livestock guardian dogs or do shifts, like during the day Kangals and at night switch to the Great Pyranees(idk if I spelled that right) then release the kangals if they need backup

I like this channel, especially the videos about working dogs. That said, there is a lot of misinformation in this particular video. I will say that humans should quit trying to turn every breed into a pet, mainly in America. None of these dogs should be used as a pet.

One reason great Pyrenees’s make such great family pets is that they were essentially made to hate nonhuman predators but allow people to pass. Many Pyrenees’s work where there are many people who pass, although they will often bark at the person and deter them from getting close to the flock they rarely attack people. They also vary rarely chase people. Ok n the other hand if you’re a wolf, fox, coyote, etc..you’ll probably want to run.

I'm a native romanian and I grew up near sheep, cattle and everything nedeed on a homestead farm. We had shepherd dogs, native romanian, German shepherds and hunting hounds, transylvanian hound. I still keep in touch with friends and relatives in the country side, high hills region with sheep been kept high in the mountains, involved in keeping sheep. Conclusions:
- kangal, central Asia and Caucasians fight a lot among themselves. They do not cope with native dogs. They also hurt each other pretty bad. They do bad against bears. They go physical, get hurt and permanent fear from bears. They are too big and too slow to fight bears. They are also too big, slow and not enough stamina to keep with the sheep flocks on the steep mountains. They roam quit a lot and all three breeds, when they are more, they roam the woods at night and kill wolfs. No good for environment. Young ones, alone, get lost in dense woodlands. Also the young ones, during wolf night attacks are lured by wolfs in to the woods and eaten. They are quit aggressive against people. From the mastif/molloser breeds the best results, except the native breeds - carpathian shepherds and mioritic shepherd, have been notice in mastino espagnol, but only for wolfs, not bears. And also not high up in the mountains, only in medium high hills and in the traditional pastoral way of keeping sheeps. The best sheepdogs are the one adapted to your geography, local predators and way of keeping sheep. Take also in mind that sheepdogs work in packs. You need them to work together, not fighting and hurting each other. Also having to manny dogs in a packs will make them lazy and they will fight to much. Wise shepherds in my native country are trying to balance the back with medium light dogs, especially females, hard working how are patroling constantly the saroundings especially when flocks are moving. Wolfs and bears attach during the day too. They also need to be brave and aggressive enough to block the wolfs until the big muscle come. And you need big boys too. Several males how can go physical in case the wolfs are pushing. Also, a good shepherd dog against wolfs is not alwaysgood against bears. Big dogs are good against bears.
In our native country, the wolf type dogs, FCI group 1 dogs performs better then mollosers. In other countries, mollosers do. Depends on geography, predators and way of doing your business.
All the best.

I have a kangal. Good house dog. Doesn't drool much at all, can be trained. A little high energy, but there's ways around that. A big baby, really sensitive, does stand attention to any noise or perceived intrusion, but if once I say that person is ok or the noise is fine, or he even thinks I'm ok with it, then everyone's his best friend. Good with other dogs too, although he will try to be the boss, of course. Good boy.
