Shortest runway in the world

Shortest COMMERCIAL runway in the word. There are many airports that have shorter runways but they don't have any commercial operations.

I took this flight several times in my life. This is absolutely FANTASTIC !!!

Its doable . I operated my AN2 out of my 900 foot farm grass strip for several years. Every landing required full concentration and a stable approach !

Twin Otter is an amazing airplane.

It is only short runway if you have a twin Otter. It is not that short if you have a Zenith STOL. Runway 12/30 is 1300 ft long, if it is not for the mountains on both sides , the Zenith could have used runway 03/ 21 at the same airport, maybe it might use some of the grass next to it on that really wide runway (1300 ft wide). With no wind, a Zenith 750 /801 leave the ground after a run of about 100 ft with standard HP.

Carrier pilots are laughing… 😉 Seriously, this is minimal… not sure a take off with a loaded plane without a head wind is possible on that runway.

I visited Saba (by ship) in 1972 - there were a few crashed aircraft lying about (pour encourager les autres).
There was then a dot on the cliff face at each approach. Word had it that If you did not aim for that then the last minute up-draught would cause 'wheels down' to be way beyond the threshold; then you'd better accelerate to take off to go 'round again' or you'd drop off the other end.

There are probably airstrips in the New Guinea highlands shorter than that, they literally fall off a cliff to gain airspeed

I believe Westray airport in Scotland is 291 metres, Netherthorpe in England is a licensed runway 381 metres.
I’m regularly using about 200 metres of farm field, it obviously not in an Otter.

Basically landing on the verge of stalling, to slow down in time

What about the airport runway on top of a butte on Catalina Island. I landed there once and there were crashes at both ends.

The second pilot took off almost as aggressively as my AA flight out of Heathrow.

It's not the shortest. I know a runway that is half that lenght and not probably the shortest on Earth. Of course it's a place for STOL planes and other mountain planes like Jodels

Reminds me of Brevoort Island, Canada. The runway may have been even shorter. Landing was up hill, take off down hill. The crazy part was, the plane drove off the end off the runway which a 400 ft cliff. We reached air speed just before hitting the ocean. Yes it was a Twin Otter also.

We had runways as short as that in northern BC. A beaver would have no trouble with 800 feet. Also check out Alaska many short or one way strips. This looks pretty commercial to me.

1.200 ft is normal for this Aircraft.
