The thing is, with ghost of Tsushima Jin Sekai being quiet and reserved works, especially if you play in Japanese because it fits the overall theme of the game with Jin being a stoic samurai type. With Aloy it just feels... Awkward and bland

I've never played HFW, but i've played HZD and i felt pretty comfortable pilotong aloy, whit the exception of some moments that were very weird and had me afraid she would turn insuferable, i was enough pleased by her so like the story and its worldbuilding whitout a lot of obstruction, but i got kinda afraid when i see ppl talking about her like that, i didnt find her bland, i saw something in her, was i wrong?

The idea you have to save the entire world over and over and people keep calling you "savior" is some kind of writer jesus complex or something

I loved Aloy in Zero Dawn. Aloy in Forbidden West is a bit annoying. You want character development you can now choose for Aloy to be gay. LMAO

Outside the first interaction between Aloy and Erend(when he holds her accountable for disappearing on everybody) ...........I hated that they turned him into the "oaf" who Aloy just humors. Like she even questions his ability to set off a marker-thing when everybody was to set off on. Idk, just seems disrespectful to what he should and could have become. Even when Erend is talking to Aloy about important things she's kinda brushing him off like she's humoring a child asking non-important questions.

Everything got improved on? I think everything but the graphics took a step/steps back.

Melee combat? It was nerfed from the first game. No matter how much you increase your spear attacks, even the weakest machines are a huge threat unless you you incorporate a "hit and run" strategy. Let's be honest, do you really want to fight 5 minutes with watcher robots with that style?

The climbing has gotten janky. You get stuck on cliff walls without intending to attach yourself to it. Leaping can be unresponsive even though you know you should be able to make a jump.

The increase of weapons isn't impressive when you consider that the element attacks for each weapon overlap with other types of weapons AND that the stat difference isn't much different within the same color. Also, there's no point in investing in upgrading in any weapon/armor that isn't purple or orange weapons. So, those green chunks/shards/clusters? Yeaaaahhhhh, not really needed.

The world is pretty much visually a "copy and paste" for 90% of the first game. I'm talking about design.

Aloy just seems more dismissive of other people in the second game than with the first game. The first game SHOULD have taught her the importance of the help of other people. Rost raised, trained, and saved her. Slyens helped her along the way and even helped save her. Many characters helped her in the last battle in the first game. In the second game, Aloy spent half the game rejecting everybody's help........but then in the second half she just accepts any "johnny come lately", including Regalla.

The woke portrayal of men is quite evident in Forbidden West, they are either a joke, incompetent, evil or cowardly. There is even a mission early on that portrays a dead man as a joke for falling off a mountain with his female counterpart not caring about his death and passed it off as a joke.

I disagree on the fact, that Aloy has no character. She just has very litte and its not a well written one. (Other than Jin, who was yeah... its a bit meh every now and than, but overall he HAD a character.)

I loved Ethan from RE8. I don't feel like his dialogue over stayed his welcome. It was perfectly balanced.

But horizon was boring. I think guerilla have always had issues with dialogue and script. I loved killzone but their story was terribly written.

I wanted to play this so bad, even I got the ps5 for it... i deleted after 1 hour playing, I hated immediately when this varl.. joined me.. and start talking shit, it was so annoying, I'm not gonna waste time with this game 😤 1/10 it has nice graphics but everything else doesn't look interesting but annoying

I really like the game but after watching the video, I realized that I never Really had any thoughts on aloy's character. The world is amazing, the combat became more versatile, the machines are masterpieces, the story has it flaws but still fit the plot. With all this, it's hard to take a character that dull in the game.

I'm just now playing it (Elden Ring's launch COMPLETELY overshadowed it) and my god, I'm 4hr in and am struggling to keep playing. The poorly written dialogue and story keeps barging in every time it feels like I'm getting into a gameplay groove. Really thinking I need to just use a guide to speed-run through the main story so I can start monster hunting, finding the best weapons, etc, in peace. And does Aloy ever shut the hell up, telling herself (the player) the obvious next step in a mission.

The story in the first game was meh, but tolerable. This one is just ham-fisted and preachy, at least what I've seen thus far (and given I'm watching spoiler vids it shows how little I care). With all the menu options you'd think they'd have a "skip all cutscenes mode" but then we wouldn't get to see their "brilliant" work, lol

Horizon Forbidden West: the Victorious of video games. A story where everybody but the main character is actually interesting.

Ok I just started playing about 30h in and it feels thrown together. Like they packed all their ideas in to one and made it feel like they're catering to the people that never played the first one. The controls have multiple functions for the same buttons and it just makes it super glitchy. I love how the only white person is Aloy and the game play makes her out to be nothing special and very weak almost Like they're catering to the woke. Upgrading seems to be a lot more complicated and doesn't seem to strengthen the character all that much. Got to love the free face painting they give you under special called pride!! And it's a rainbow. You're treated like garbage by pretty much everyone even your old friends throughout the game and though you saved the world you find out all your efforts in the first game was pointless. It is hard to get over the controls and the glitchnes of the character. I hate trying to glide and it goes to the map. I hate the weapon wheel aspesuly after creating arrows and it seems to switch your weapon in you. When you try to shoot three arrows it goes into Vale I actually have to take the skill points off that one and wen doing that it cleared all the skill points and had to fill everything back in. I absolutely hate this game!!

wow it shows how young u are to call uncharted OG a boring game .......but i understand were ur coming from because after 15 years i cant go back and play the first one because after playing countless better versions of that game and games like it....it just doesn't stick out any more as a good game ......but at the time of its release in 2007 its was innovative in a couple different areas plus having some of the best graphics to date at the time when graphics where way more important to the gaming world then ever before... uncharted was basically tomb raider done right with a wise cracking MC

Weak writing. People who play story driven games notices it. Everyone else raves about how amazing this game is. They are just counting how big the map is and the number of quests and call it a victory. To me it's like a different game.

The setting and concept of the game are acctually pretty good but the characters are boring and the world is uneventful and boring...the quests are boring, the dialogues are boring the jokes are boring...I'm ok with the story and overall the game is good but I wouldn't say is the best of the year...

The thing about Jin Sakai is that the japanes voice actor is the guy that plays Zoro so that fix it a little bit

Had to watch this all the way to the end to see if you mentioned the Beta plot line at all. Basically showing how the drastic personality difference was based on Rost’s influence on Aloy and not Beta despite having them have the same DNA.
I will admit, there are a bunch of problems with Aloy’s character, but calling her “worse than Abbey or Rey” is a bit of a low blow. Her personality comes out a lot in her reactions to characters in the “side missions” like Faro or the Tribespeople. As well as like… 12x too many “optional dialogue” you can have with people at the base. She is a typical goodie two-shoes who wants to help everyone and save the world and she is coping with her white savior complex. She has initiative and always takes the path with less death. She mourns loss, kind of. Especially after Varl got shanked she emoted, a little. As I said she is flawed. But not mentioning Beta at all made me roll my eyes. She could’ve been used way better to show the differences between the two, but she was put in there to attempt character development for Aloy. And Beta accomplished it to a minimal degree.

I personally loved the story in forbidden west. However, I can definitely agree that most of the time Aloy felt blank and the emotional moments weren’t very consistent.

Having no character is a characteristic. Imagine all the bullshit she went through. I'd be just as cold and bland. But I do agree, because sometimes she goes from cold to losing her mind over something unexpected

The problem is that Aloy is a Christ figure, so she pretty much has to be perfect. Elisabet is God, Aloy is Jesus (sent to save us from our sins), and Gaia is the Holy Spirit. Everyone loves Aloy, everyone wants to be with her, or get her attention. She's beautiful, skilled, and she's the only one who can save the world (because she's a clone). Stereotypical Mary Sue character.

So after watching this I kind of feel like you have a general misunderstanding of character to begin with. You also seem to lack a fundamental core of imagination which is truly depressing for you and completly explains why you couldn't get into the story, or lacked the abilty to even see the story. I'd love an example of what you believe to be a good story and good character, becuse I think you will find you have a crossed wire leaving you thinking bad things good and good things bad. Of course there is no reason why you can't dislike the game or the characters/story in them, after all those things are always up to taste and are subjective as f***. But you do seem to consider some generally accepted and time tested story techniques as bad. So what to you is good?

I think at least in the first game, aloy had much more curiosity, and wanted to know where did she came from. But in Forbidden west theres just nothing, theres the determination to save the world, but thats it, it feels boring, and thats the whole aloy in Forbidden west, a boring character. Apart from the new lore being a piece of shit
