Another great J Dilla example is the Slum Village song "Players" using a sample saying "Claire."
ОтветитьThe song KUSH KOMA does that shit too. I cant remember where the sample comes from (you neither, I guarantee it) but i think the real sample is like "Crash course" or something
ОтветитьThe ba ba and fa fa shit is cap
ОтветитьI've been bedroom producing for some years now. Mainly experimental and electronic. I very rarely use any vocals, and I tend to use quite a lot of effects for sound design. Often I end up creating sounds that sounds like vocal snippets, even though they're not. Or if I improvise some recordings, then it often sounds like I'm having a conversion with myself through the instrument or effect.
I once made the tweaking of a BBD delay sound like someone in the other end of an old phone saying: "can you hear me? Can you hear me?!", but in danish (my main language). Kind of spooky. Almost like some unconsious part of me tried to communicate with me through my own intuitive creative expressions 😅
One trick that I sometimes do when editing a recording of something improvised, is that I'll crossfade 2 different parts together, if I deleted something in between, and then get a totally new sound out of it. If I've overdubbed improvisations from different instruments, then I'll often take some parts down in volume until it sounds like it's part of another sound playing at the same time, like layering.
Great video but them boys most definitely wasn’t using pc and fruity loops my guy Trussme they was on mpc
ОтветитьI do this with my vocals to fix my flow on some bars....
ОтветитьHahaha that thumbnail 😂
ОтветитьMm I don't really see the secretly tricked you part ? They found a sample chopped it up and happened to chop it to connect two phrases together , and or their rapper while stoned misheard a sample and thought it sounded similar to another vowel or word lol and so then went with it for a concept... ? There is no mystery or trick here... its just a creative process of chopping up sounds and also they didn't make this music they took someone elses already pre made music and re arranged it so if anyone tricked anyone it was the original artist ! ?
ОтветитьI did this by mistake recently singing a part different from my background. I was like, goodness, I have to sing all those notes over again. I didn’t feel like doing all that over, so I kept it.
ОтветитьI KNEW they wasn't sayin breathe, but always wondered, but was too lazy to find out, wtf were they really saying in the sample... thank you for this ! ! !
ОтветитьSide note: "mature themes" = Immature themes.
ОтветитьNice video, Biz Markie was used in Nas "It Ain't Hard To Tell" [Large Professor Remix]...sounds like Biz is saying Nas, but he’s saying "Recognize" from the classic hit "Make the Music with Your Mouth"
Ответитьmixing the sample first then the drums can bring that out!
ОтветитьHoly crap! I looked away so I didn’t see his mouth and I heard ba… and in that same sequence I looked at his mouth and it instantly went to fa! That’s nuts!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьThrough the wire was through the fire I think idk
ОтветитьIt's like singing a song and you dont know the lyrics so you just make it up?!
ОтветитьOne of my favs is Large Professor's remix of Nas' *It Ain't Hard to tell*.
Using BizMark's "Highly recognized as the King of Disco and.." from Nobody beats the Biz by chopping the word "recognized to say "Nas Nas Nas Nas is the King of Disco-in'"
Kayne is a beat beast…
ОтветитьHow long do these re makes take you? Do you rip the stems and work from there ?
ОтветитьI've watched a bunch of ur vids in no particular order, but this shit right here?!?! B R A V Ø!!! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
ОтветитьAlways thought the Kanye sample sounded like “I’ll be Mr Late”
Ответить30 hrs got me
ОтветитьPlayer from slum village is the best. villa is the best at it
Ответить"Indian Carpet" - Timbaland & Magoo
the voice in the chorus does not say Indian carpet but IMBIANCATE which in Italian means whitewashed and is the voice of Lucio Dalla, one of the greatest artists of Italian music from the song "Ulisse coperto di Sale"
😮😮Yo that is Maaaad Deep, cause i was already familiar with that Hold you down sample from when Jay z used it on the Dynasty album. Soon you'll understand was already catalogued in my brain and i still intepreted as hold you Down when that version dropped
ОтветитьAre you stupid?
ОтветитьITs true cause I do it
ОтветитьWhen i produced i use tritans and rolands.... actual chords and harmony....sampling is for babies
ОтветитьThrough the wire
ОтветитьSo cool bro, love it!!! 🔥🔥🔥💯
I had no idea this stuff existed until now.
Cheers! 🍻 ✌😎

30 hrs all time favorite 🔥
Ответитьthru the wire is the most obvious one
ОтветитьBro, u are exceptional. I’d like to work with u. I’m an upcoming artist.
Ответитьhow do you manage to use so many samples in your videos without copyright strikes? i'd like to make more samplebased content myself, because i think it sucks how content ID is reshaping the culture of sampling and historical resources about it
ОтветитьThats not trickery, its been creative. You also deceived us with your caption.
ОтветитьMay FL outlive us all.
ОтветитьKanye is the GOAT
ОтветитьI like Nas – It Ain’t Hard To Tell (Remix) Large Professor works the hook with Biz Markie vocals.
ОтветитьMy favorite example of the McGurk effect is DMX’s “Dogs Out” (prod. by Kanye) where the hook goes “And the dog is out”, meanwhile in the original sample it says “In the darkest hour”. I was so mindblown when I heard the original song.
What’s funny is that Kanye didn’t tweak that sample in any special way (except for speeding it up to match the beat) but the official lyrics also say “And the dog is out” 😂
Kanye also did some crazy examples of that effect with through the wire and 30 hours, i always thought the sample actually said 30 hours but it was something different
ОтветитьMc gurked full circle after this one ha
Ответитьthis video makes me want to get FL studio! I've been using GarageBand and Audacity to cut samples and make beats (I'm new to this and didn't want to spend too much money) but it seems tedious sometimes when I see how FL makes the process a bit easier in some ways.
ОтветитьI can’t find nothing about Kareem Raegans. Did I not spell it right ?
ОтветитьThis video was fire.

Any good producer use these practices all the time. It almost comes as second nature. Been incorporating these techniques since the 90s…
ОтветитьMy favorite "McGurk effect" is when Jay Dilla produced a song for Slum Village called "Players". He actually sampled a song by The Singers Unlimited called "Clair".
