Taipei easily beats at east 5 out of the top 10.
It's clean, cheap, reliable, easy to use, frequent, widespread, and it has excellent connectivity to other modes of transport, including a very convenient rental bike system.
Operators from other countries/cities (including Singapore) have visited the Taipei MRT system to learn from it.
Why did you leave out Moscow?
ОтветитьSão Paulo didn’t even make the list?
ОтветитьNot even an honourable mention for Beijing?? That’s insane. It carries the most people of any metro and can’t even get a mention ahead of Stockholm and Berlin?
ОтветитьParis metro is quite a bit smaller than London and New York.
Ответитьis the Moscow metro out of this league bc billions times better than any other metro mentioned here?
ОтветитьI'm in Seoul now and was in Tokyo last week. Tokyo feels much easier for the tourist, more English used and feels friendly with its cute tunes. In Seoul, I've found buses to be vital, and very convenient, and a visitor is well advised to make use of them rather than only thinking in terms of the metro. One thing you will need to get familiar with if you're used to London is that in both Tokyo and Seoul there is a whole world of interconnecting 'streets' beneath the ground and multiple exits that could be 500m apart, so don't expect to meet somebody at 'the entrance'. You can walk a long way underground without seeing the sky. Have to say about Seoul, there are a lot of steps, and not so many escalators and lifts. You'll get fit, or as a tourist will be exhausted.
As for platform screen doors... no decent system should be without them!
I‘ve been all over Europe, and was surprised with the quality of Bucharests Metro system. The trains were very punctual and there are a lot of lines which go all over the city.
ОтветитьMy baby İstanbul 😢
ОтветитьThis video should be scrapped. As you can tell by the comments Reece not having the Moscow Metro in the Top 10 renders this list irrelevant and pointless. Delhi and Madrid ahead of Moscow?????? laughable, not to mention Singapore MRT not even in the top 10

Ответитьbiased take
ОтветитьReece, you really sholdn't ignore Moscow, don't play along with mainstream politics
ОтветитьThe New York Metro moves a ton of people? That's about 20 people or so. Not all that impressive.
ОтветитьI think Nürnberg deserves at least a mention. They managed to retrofit an old line automating it completely and, as far as I know, it’s the only driverless metro system which doesn’t have those horrendous, hideous platform screen doors which ruin the architecture, thanks to the use of lots of sensors.
ОтветитьThe São Paulo metro deserved an honorable mention, as if it is not as extensive as the others, at least it is nothing like the others in terms of technology, efficiency and cleanliness.
ОтветитьDidnt mention only metro system that inspired a book and game :D
ОтветитьWhy is there faint music in the background? It's pointless and annoying
ОтветитьOK, you had me. When you said that we probably guessed who was number one I thought of Moscow.
Seeing the comments, I'm far from being the only one to find it odd.
But you probably never went there so you can't comment on it.
You could spend days visiting metro stations like some visit museums.
Nothing say about China metro most Europe NY outdated
Ответитьauthor, you no longer exist for me as a blogger, after you did not include one of the best systems in the list - Moscow. bye-bye, Russophobe or coward, I don't know who you really are
ОтветитьI had experience using the metro systems of Mexico City, Madrid, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Seoul, Montreal and Singapore. I agree with you on many points, especially that Paris Metropolitain usually upgrades its trains. However, as I use different criteria to assess the system, I didn't feel comfortable with London's underground. I only went into New York subway's tunnel, but I didn't ride it because I didn't like the ambience there.
ОтветитьEn mi opinión el metro de Las Américas es el de Santiago de Chile y uno de los mejores dek mundo.
ОтветитьThat through-running in tokyo is a double edged sword though; get too drunk and pass out on your way home and end up literally in a different city (Yokohama) or in the countryside on the outskirts of Saitama. Its a genuine fear for most residents.
ОтветитьI'm happy and proud to see my beloved mexican Metro in this list :)
ОтветитьHave you looked into the Oslo system? Basically every linr ends at the forest connrcting people to trails, hiking, biking skiing etc! As well just an efficient system! Pretty amazing!
ОтветитьI'd be interested in hearing what you think about Oslo. Have you been there? Where would you rate it?
ОтветитьIt's really strange, that you didn't mention Moscow metro. It has a lot of benefits according to NYC metro for example.
First of all its cheap: now it costs 0.7$ per 1 way ticket (Ediniy). If you buy a Troika card, 1 ticket will cost you 0.6$, and you can change to MCD (part of metro but on ground). As a student of University in Moscow I pay 5.5$ per month (ot is only a student benefit to pay 5.5$ per month to take metro to any point and without limits on enters).
Second: It is pretty clean. Every time I go to metro in Moscow I see a lot of people. But on stayions you will never find garbage. The only garbage a saw at stations were 1 way tickets.
Third: Arrival. In the morning and evening the intervals between trains are 90 seconds. Even if the doors closed in front of you, the next one will arrive almost emidiatly.
Fourth: The map. Moscow metro has 3 circle lines and all overs radial. It is a good idea for Moscow, 'cause most of the work places are in center and people live far from center (usually near MRR).
Fifth: Comfort. It is super comfortable to drive in Moscow metro. The stations are beautiful and show history of USSR (not only Russia). Also it is very easy to buy tickets. You can buy them at stations, use your credit card. For Troika: buy ticket at station or use your phone to buy ticket for Troika. Also there is an app with which you can buy ticket for Troika, check map and see when the train will arrive.
Actually I was pretty disappointed when I didn't see Moscow metro in this list and when NYC was shown as a better system
my top 10 are brisbane Sydney adelaide perth chicago NYC london Hong Kong soel and tokyo
ОтветитьMy favourite metros I've been on are Hong Kong, Moscow, Seoul, London and Paris! I think Moscow definitely takes the cake with the WiFi and gorgeous stations but I really enjoyed trying to learn all the different lines in Paris (although ngl the lack of mobile service on the trains kinda sucks). Seoul was a favourite purely due to the station jingles 😂
ОтветитьAs a Delhite, the Delhi metro is LOVE. In my opinion, living and moving around in Delhi is IMPOSSIBLE without the metro. No matter where I go, I always miss the ease of the metro. It is fast, the trains are frequent, and you will always find a station within a mile or two of your final destination, ensuring access to the system. And it is FOREVER expanding (literally been in the city for 17 years and I have never seen it stop growing lol)
ОтветитьHe didn't even mention the Moscow metro.
How is it? Did Biden not allow it or does the NC orientation allow it?😂
Bro really put on the video dirty New York subway and even did’t mention Moscow subway
ОтветитьCannot believe Moscow wasn’t number one. You didn’t even mention Moscow. Wow!
ОтветитьI think this is not asertive ranking. Because chile have the more better sistem of subway of all america includes usa and canada. Very bad investigation
ОтветитьAuthor, has the Moscow Metro really become a victim of the cancellation culture? Good job! )))
ОтветитьWhere is Moscow? By the way, NYC metro is the worst metro I've ever seen :).
ОтветитьThe culture of "cancellation" in all its glory. I was in more than half of the list, the Moscow metro definitely had to get on the list.
Ответитьyall dont understand. if he added Moscow here, the subways of other cities would look ridiculous.
ОтветитьSurprisingly, the best metro system was never actually featured in the video.
Moscow metro..?
Funny at the quantity of bots asking for Moscow metro
ОтветитьAnd metro of Santiago de Chile? The best metro in Latinoamérica
Ответитьmake one about the metro systems in Brazilian states capitals
ОтветитьHave you ever heard about Moscow's Metro? Clean, safe, with no delays and also Moscow was the first city in the world where Face ID was used for entrance.
ОтветитьI really wonder why Moscow wasn't even mentioned. It's one of the largest most complex systems that's still being expanded, it's got some of the most impressive architecture and station designs and modern amenities such as USB plugs, wifi and "library coaches" with free e-books.
ОтветитьI definitely miss the two most used metro systems in the world here - Moscow and Beijing.
ОтветитьMoscow subway system is the best in the world.
ОтветитьЧего только не соврёт за звонкую монету.
