My favourite game from this year initially was FFXVI, then I tried Totk and my opinion changed, but then I heard of baldurs gate for the first time and that is undoubtedly my GOTY I think the big 6 personally are gonna be Baldurs gate, Totk, Spider-Man, resident evil 4, street fighter and Mario wonder

I think GOTY is FF16, I see it as GOTY because of what the game represents it brings you into a compelling story with amazing characters sick combat there are so many ways to use the combat, and the bosses are awesome and the music is too good. The ending really hit me though. I think my only gripes with the game was side quests and cutscenes. But side quests don’t really matter because you don’t have to do them however there are only like 5 good side quest. Cutscenes can kind of be exhausting but they are really nice to look at so it wasn’t to bad. In my opinion FF16 wins if not BGIII most likely but I believe in FF16.

Now that Alan Wake 2 released I really think the other 2 big games have competition. Part of me hopes Alan Wake 2 wins GOTY but there's no doubt Remedy will be walking away with a couple awards

How is Zelda nominated for GOTY b/c of its popularity? There are other games that have overall, better graphic, better voice acting, better gameplay and better story. They nominated Zelda as GOTY because of its popularity and sales not because its the best game of the year. The game industry is just lame.

Hey Brandon, impressive list for me I think it will be baldurs gate 3 which I will be very happy with massive baldurs gate fan played the originals back in the day aswell as all the rest from there creators love the games.

My personal top 3 this year are(these are just ones I’ve played, been a backlog year for me mainly)

1. Final fantasy 16
2. Jedi survivor
3. Like a dragon Ishin


I can see spidey 2 getting High on the list just haven’t played yet, same with baldurs gate 3 seen my brother play it need to buy it myself.

I think itll be: Baldurs Gate 3, TOTK Spiderman 2, Mario Wonder, Starfield, Final Fantasy 15 with Baldur's Gate 3 winning.

If i had to guess it would be Zelda, Bg3, re4 remake, Spider-Man 2, starfield and then the last one probably a random indie game like dave the diver.

Starfield is my game of the year by far. The more i play it the better it gets.

I feel like it'll be Zelda, Baldur's Gate, RE4 Remake, Mario Wonder, Spider-Man and Starfield, if they expand it to 8 nominees then throw in FF16 and either Armoured Core or Alan Wake as well. Winner is definitly a tossup between Zelda and Baldur's Gate 3 but I think Baldur's Gate 3 will take it while Zelda will get the most awards overall, similar to what happened in 2018 with God of War and Red Dead 2 and last year with Elden Ring and Ragnarok. I'm personally rooting for Spider-Man 2, RE4 Remake and Hi-Fi Rush to get some other wins though as those are my top 3 games of the year

Ok so here are my predictions. BG3 because it's a fantastic game, TOTK because again, another fantastic game, Spider Man 2 because it's the most talked about game yet, Mortal Kombat 1 (ik it's a fighting game but I so want it to be in the GOTY list) because it is the best MK game we gotten in a while, Super Mario Wonder because what King of Skill once said, it's fucking amazing, and the last one has to be Starfield

I 100% think BGIII will win. I don’t think I have ever played a game with characters as well written as BGIII. Astarion is straight up my favourite video game character of all time, Karlach is also really close

I have a feeling Baldur's Gate 3 is going to win. Just the fact alone that every single line of dialog (hundreds of thousands) is motion capture acted by real people so you never see those stock animations that take you out of the game is mind blowing.

Dave the Diver is good but it's too short to win.

TotK i think Nintendo is doing a LOT of noise, more noise than folks actually care.
Starfield isn't GOTY material, yes big Bethesda game, and bla bla bla... folks are ignoring all the controversies with this game, while even hardcore Bethesda fans say that the game is MID.
The comparisons that folks are making with Starfield says a lot, they compared with No Man's Sky, and Starfield didn't came out looking good, they compared with Cyberpunk 2077 and Cp77 cam out looking like a super model, they compared even with Mass Effect and well, let's just say that now theres more folks nostalgic for Mass Effect than happy with Starfield....
Diablo 4 is another problematic game., a game that outright mistreated their own player base, shouldn't gain a GOTY.
Final Fantasy XVI, yeah maybe it is a great game but frankly, 16? Seriously?
Armored Core 6 didn't play any of the games, not exactly my cup of tea, but yeah i guess it is a good game, at least theres a lot of folks praising the game.
Hogwarts Legacy, guess also is a good game, i not a fan of HP, so i also do not care
Alan Wake 2 is special game this year, in one had this is a game that would tied the Remedy verse and i am excieted about this game, on the other hand i don't actually believe that Alan Wake can win the GOTY this year, not enough marketing, the game didn't even launched... hard one this year at least, even then, if Alan Wake 2 gets the GOTY this year i would be happy.
Resident Evil 4 is a PROBLEMATIC GAME for GOTY, because it is a REMAKE, and already got a GOTY, isn't?
Spiderman 2 is a good contender... i'm more of a Batman guy, but yeah, i guess Spiderman 2 has good chances to win, especially because Sony boys seem to be beating all on it...
Jedi Survivor.... honestly, i didn't like the story... the gameplay never been better in a Star Wars game, but the story is kinda meh, best light saber combat ever tough... not exactly enough to win the goty.
Super Mario... well, unlikely.

Ps: My favorite game this year would def be Cyberpunk 2077 + Phantom Liberty, despite i know that Cp77 was great from the start, was only with update 2.0 and PL DLC that folks finally start to notice how great the game actually is, Phantom Liberty DLC is a MASTERPIECE, a shame that CP77 can't participate again and DLCs no matter how good they are, don't win GOTY.

Late, but: For The Game Awards? I'd agree with...4 (Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur's Gate III, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Resident Evil 4)...of your big 6. And, considering your bubble is 7-13, 7 (add Alan Wake II (Bubble), Super Mario Bros. Wonder (Big 6) and Final Fantasy XVI (Bubble) of your top 13 would be in my top 13.

Solid top 6 list, but I disagree on the winner prediction. I think it's going to be Baldur's Gate 3 and it's not even close. The fact that it delivers a new gold standard for turn-based CRPG, combined with the sheer magnitude and quality of the game, makes it stand out so clearly.

Not that I think it'll win or even has a chance of winning but if Sea of Stars had a physical release I think it could be in the big six. I could see Super Mario Wonder being there over Alan Wake II and Resident Evil 4 though I don't know that it deserves to be but that will remain to be seen. I think it's an elevated version of the new Super Mario Bros on the Wii. I don't know that they could do enough for it to come close to winning.
If it weren't for all the controversy with Hogwarts Legacy, it could definitely be in the big 6 and the fact that there's controversy with it to begin with is asinine. Lots of people say s*** that they could be criticized for. I just think it's a cancel culture world and you just have to walk a very fine line. Nah, street fighter has more chances than armored core and diablo. The game is one of the few with +90 on MC, the judges love Capcom's new direction, is the most played street fighter game since Smash Ultimate (which was nominanted on 2019).

And 2d games are possible on the Game Awards: platformers like Super Mario Maker (2015), Inside (2016), Celeste (2018), Metroid (2021) and other 2d genres like Hearthstone (2014), Smash Ultimate (2019) and Hades (2020)

Remnant 2 and Lies of P are probably the best not FromSoftware Soulslike that should be considered

BG3 I think will edge out Zelda, it's completely dominated the conversation this year and arguably reframed a lot of what gaming can be and completly blew up its genre and how we look at storytelling. Reminds me of how Elden Ring redefined what an open world was. If it doesn't take GOTY, it's going to get a lot of other awards.

We haven't seen the reviews yet, but Spiderman 2 will likely perform like God of War 2 did at the awards last year.

There's a category for best ongoing that is normally for like Apex or FF14; but no mans sky got it one year after unfucking the game, cyberpunk might get a nod in that this year

Baldurs Gate 3,Tears of the Kingdom, and Resident Evil 4 are all the locks. The final three I think will be Final Fantasy 16, Spider-Man 2, and Starfield. I think Hogwarts legacy will be the game that gets nominated for Game Direction but misses GOTY.
