How to do a NEOSLIDE in Trackmania

That's how you start drifting in most racing games, so it's easy to implement

Been practicing this for a while. Getting the feel of it. What really made it click for me was realizing that you don't actually have to "stop" at any point in time. To put it more accurately, the only thing you "stop" is the initial turn. But there is no reason to "stop" before hitting the brake.

Trying to wrap my head around why this would work with regards to the physics. I was focusing a lot on this one left turn and I was looking at the front left wheel. The Neoslide, with the order Wirtual gives you wouldn't work. There's a window of time in which you have to input "Brake -->Left" after doing the intial turn-in. In actuality it's just "Left-->(Stop Left)+Brake-->Left". The reason why this works is because you can only land the slide if you input "Brake-->Left" while the wheel is still turning. And you HAVE to brake first or else it won't work.

Just something I felt like adding to his explanation because the "stop" part of Wirtual's explanation wasn't getting me any consistent results. And after about 40 min of this shit I finally found the kink in the formula. Now I'm getting results and it's just a matter of polishing the timing and making it faster.

I had to rewatch it a couple times because I kept vibing to N64 rainbow road and I couldn't focus

I have Wirtuals 4 min "Tutorial" for the Neo, when he explained it to me on strim (on an RPG map, too). I savour the clip and the kindness of that magnanimous Man... even tho he uploads online driven World records to the Offline section- witch should be classified as a capital offense... imho opinion!

There is a brake which is different from backward key in trackmania? I've been playing it for 12+ years using only 4 keys, wtf.....?!

More tutorials about the game mechanics would be great for beginners like me!

What helped me as a pad player was to try to get the inputs on keyboard with 2 hands before going back to controller. It's much easier to understand what your fingers have to do on keyboard but once I got the input on kb it was way easier to replicate on pad.
