You can feed them if you bring them to your base, I built one of my bases upon the giant lillypads and released a few penglings on there and offered them some fish, they follow you around and snatch up the fish quite happily.

Can you please try feeding a baby to a leviathan? I haven't seen it done yet and I don't have the game to try myself
