the morse code type sound when connected to Bluetooth is radio interference caused by the Bluetooth chip
ОтветитьThen why spend that ki d of Money . Just buy the Best You can afford . No need to purchase 50 of the Things .
ОтветитьWhen i tried to record a Pink Floyd show back in the 80's with my high end Toshiba kt-r2 i used a metal cassette i previously recorded Animals on it.The permanent magnet erase head didn't completely erase the music who was previously recorded.🤐
ОтветитьYeah other reviews i have seen, sounds like there’s wow & flutter issues. And in another review, crosstalk issues
ОтветитьSame goes for Floppy drives and DVD recorders, new drives is just about saving money.
ОтветитьI know it's a long-shot, but has anyone here tried a Toshiba Aurex Wireless AX-W10C? There's some for sell on eBay (from Japan), but I can't find anyone talking about it here in the English speaking part of the world. ;)
ОтветитьJust to play devils advocate here my assumption is that We Are Rewind are happy with a cheap sounding device. We all have access to high quality music these days so I’d assume imperfection is a novelty to their target audience. Similar to the disposable camera trend that happened in recent years.
P.s. absolutely wonderful review. I shan’t be purchasing one any time soon 😄
Nope. The battery and that they make it so difficult to service make it a no-go for me
ОтветитьOne of the sad parts about it is that with the quality of current cassette players, anybody who buys a new one without prior experience will be disappointed and think the whole format and everything with it is equally poor. A middle of the road vintage deck and middle of the road Type 1 cassette will reproduce sound very faithfully and last a long time if stored correctly, but that is beyond most people who would be interested in trying the format, and beyond even those who used it when it was current.
ОтветитьI found the eraser head of a pencil always worked the best.
Ответитьit is a cheap made product from Taobao
ОтветитьVery disappointing, in my opinion. I certainly wouldn't be buying one.
ОтветитьThe quality doesn't match the price.
ОтветитьOkay, hear me out. The reason we'll probably never see tape technology being like it was in the 90s is just because, there's no reason for cassettes to try and be so high fidelity anymore. Digital is extremely accessible and extremely high quality for what it is, and very cheap to produce since it's what everyone's using right now.
This Rewind Cassette Player isn't an audiophile device. It's made by people who love aesthetics and cassettes and modern convenience and decided to make something cool with it. It's a shame to see so much negativity surrounding this device. It's not perfect but it does sound better than the cheap Amazon specials I've tried, having real stereo playback and recording is very nice, and despite the motor noise it's clear enough to hear a lot of details. And, it has that vintage-y cassette sound without being horribly overbearing.
Bluetooth works fantastic. Having a rechargeable battery is awesome. The recording feature being in stereo is awesome and recording with it is so much fun. There's no reason to take a Walkman out in public anymore so there's sadly no clip, but I bought some tiny rubber feet on Amazon to keep it from getting scratched up and sliding around when on my desk and they work great.
I wish it at least came with one of those fake leather cases that would sling around your shoulder, and the rubber feet are necessary, but other than that I feel like the audiophile community is being pessimistic here and I hope more people interested in cassette releases give this thing a chance. It's perfect for those Bandcamp releases they're currently releasing. It is a bit pricy but this is a hobbyist device and not a necessity and for the price you pay it feels very high quality.
The yellow background and font on the box make it look almost exactly like a No Frills' No Name product (Canadian grocery store)
ОтветитьI just picked up one of these sold as "needs speed adjustment" but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet (tapes coming in tomorrow). I'm pretty disappointed to learn about that background buzz but at least the wow/flutter is somewhat passable. If I hadn't paid 1/3 what these go for retail, I'd probably be pretty upset about the noise.
The good news is there's a hole on the back for access to a speed adjustment pot so at least fixing that shouldn't be a huge undertaking.
We Aren't Rewind
ОтветитьWhen recorded and played back with the same device, the "speed of sound" variable should cancel itself out :-)
Maybe someday I'll wave a white flag and accept the fact that we'll likely never ever get a good new cassette deck, and just buy one of these. I'd record a few live bootlegs with my old Nokia 808, do a quick edit in Audacity and transfer them to cassettes. For this kind of use, devices like We Are Rewind should suffice. Right? ... RIGHT?? :-(
The sad thing is people will give up cds for this garbage.
ОтветитьThis piece of human waste of a tape recorder is nothing more than junk wrapped in a fancy packaging.
ОтветитьThe OGs used the tips of their fingers to rewind
ОтветитьSupposedly they have improved this walkman in the past few months. Anyone heard anything?
ОтветитьYeah it must not have Dolby noise reduction...
ОтветитьDc bias recording, disappointed to hear that especially since these things are going for $160 US dollars.
ОтветитьLooks like the same-ol’ tired cheap Chinese mechanism. Peace.
ОтветитьThat noise is awful. Speaks for itself.
ОтветитьThis is the equivalent of people in 2070 listening to 128k MP3s on terrible, hard to use devices because it’s “cool”. We need good cassette mechanisms again.
ОтветитьThe name itself is so stupid lol, this looks like it should be sold at Urban Outfitters for like $200
ОтветитьLooks like it works. I'm looking for a cassette deck. Hmm.
ОтветитьThe bic classic clear pens were the best for winding cassettes.. the caps were tapered perfectly
ОтветитьCool tech, but the design is too "instagram ready": good for pics, but not for my pocket.
ОтветитьWhat would it take for some company to actually make a better mechanism?
ОтветитьIt seems to me that Sony should try and capitalize on the cassette "resurgence" and make a few cassette mechanisms.
ОтветитьSeems more like "we are rubbish" to me.
ОтветитьWe used BIC pens to rewind our cassettes back then. They fit perfectly
ОтветитьGerman pencils wind tape just fine, so it isn‘t a problem of “Western” pencils.
ОтветитьIf it means the difference between being able to listen to cassettes or not, to a younger generation, then it’s worth it. Great review.
ОтветитьSound's to me a Transformer Buzz!
ОтветитьEven with this possibly being "one of the best quality new cassette decks available today", ALL of these modern (super crappy quality IMO!) tape decks are just making a TOTAL JOKE out of the entire cassette format, especially if they are ever compared to pretty much ANY better quality TRUE vintage cassette deck that is still in good working condition or serviced to be like new!
Unfortunately the younger "retro fad" crowd who are interested in cassettes, don't even know what they're missing in comparison to the best that good quality vintage decks offered, especially in recording quality!
Well, that's the explanation of why my TOZAI ATC-383 has a motor noise in the bacground, its a really, really cheap cassette player, from the 90s, it was sold in walgreens
ОтветитьLooks like it isn't serviceable. Once the belt's gone bad, that's it.
ОтветитьA new walkman!
Ответитьjust a shorty: i´m from germany and we rewinded our casettes with normal german shool pencils.
they mostly were from faber castell and do fit to spool it :D
Can you make a video on the cp-81 by Retrospekt please?
Ответить$180 for that crappola
Ответитьholy damn, the recording ability of the we are rewind sucks
Ответитьwho wouldve thunk that older second high quality hand stuff sounds better than a novelty
ОтветитьTo be fair, if you had recorded at a lower level, you might have gotten better results.
