Please don't do that. I was in Amway for 15 years, never maked it big because it was my fault. To young to know how to talk to people and take the time to learn how it's done. It's sale. It's a sales business so if your not a sales person or don't love sales you will not make it big. Blaming your upline for your short comings is weak minded. I watched many people go diamond the right way (not buying products). I seen many people go out (bankrupt) of the restaurant business and stated it's a bad business, really, most restaurants are making millions, you have to know what your doing and hire (or sponsor) the right people. Don't tear down something good that other people may like and do very well and change their life. I still talk to rich people in Amway because I got rich in another business (Finance).

At first I was sold on MLM and had these huge ideas of what my business was gonna be and I pumped my brakes fast af cause when I got ready to join they already had products laid out and nobody even heard any of my business ideas. I was confused and asked my mentor where tf does my business come in and he said it is ur business. I was like hell no it ain’t idk if I even believe in these products or the company amway so once I did research I realized this shot was a scam. I was only a month in before I realized but I feel for the ppl who get brainwashed. When I rejected the offer to join I felt kinda bad for my “mentor” cause I could tell dude was lost. He really believed he was running his own business

The problem with ALL MLM businesses is that the products are GROSSLY over-priced, probably to support a multilevel commission structure. Since very few people make real money, you are basically recruiting people to pay 2x - 3x more for products than they would in a store, hoping to make money later on. Many of these people are of modest means, and cannot afford to pay more.

Holly Cow! This crud is still going strong. We started drawing "the circles" in 79 - 80. We had Texas oilfield folks and college students. Our upline had about 60 in his group. Finally we confronted him about his net profit which turned out to be about $20/mo after he paid his downline and purchased education materials. After months of recruiting, no one had any cash to show that is when we figured out the "catch." You had make diamond, or such. Amway was just the beginning, the next decade was ripe with MLM spinoffs. You could not count all the companies. It was to much. I am shocked to see that people are still drawing the circles. True the Amway vitamins and soap is excellent, but they had introduced cut rate clothes in 1981 which was embarrassing, so me and my friends called it quits on Multi Level. So surprised, but enjoyed your story. cr

The crazy thing here is she barely even mentions the products because you are not in the business of selling the product or convincing people the product is good. You’re in the business of recruiting people and trying to keep people under you and teach them to recruit people because you don’t make money from the products or the motivational talks or any of what they’re saying they’re about. You’re not a business owner, you are a recruitment manager who is also still recruiting. You make money from other people hoping to make money

I'm still in the beginning of the process, nearing a BBS event and getting ready for a grand opening. My upline is a Q12 Diamond (Jain) and I was sponsored by a classmate who recruited me and apparently she was raised on the products and her mom is in the business. She even recruited her best friend and they spoke at a partner training and PASE meeting.

The more I see videos, comments on Amway and realize how I need to keep spending to keep being my own best customer, spend to have more products, spend on the monthly BWW fee, spend on the seminar tickets, etc. Its a lot. I started in early May and I have so much doubt in my head.

I spoke about this with my sponsor and upline at a time. They've even noticed I haven't been as engaged lately, and I'm seriously considering just quitting ahead of time while it's still early. I just don't know if I can get my money back for the recent ticket.

What do you think? I'm a college student and I've been scammed before. I don't want to lose money going into this venture.

Oh my gosh Michelle! My parents are currently in BWW - they have been for 30+ years. Your story really resonated with me, and we've been at some of the same meetings (my parents used to bring me along).

Thank you for sharing this story. As a child of the Amway cult, I am so grateful for everyone who shares their story and helps to prevent people from getting sucked in.

Smh 2017 was the year that me and my GF were so new to the business and we went to FED conference to watch “ Jackie” and “Elmo” go Diamond. That event really got us.

We quit the business in 2020 and I was in shock learning all the things that Michelle ( one of the people we looked up to during the business) went through.

I believe with her story and many others will add a disruption to the MLM dirty tactics to recruit naive people

Sounds like she talking about R. M. He is a great guy and in the BWW Hall of Fame. What y’all have to realize , it’s a good start to get the education first , ( you did this by going to college for a job). Different people have different triggers, . Network Marketing is a part of the Business System: franchise, and Corporate are the only two. Network Marketing is just a cheaper way to start, without building capital. As any business and that includes small businesses, you got to realize , you have to over come things : if you study many different businesses things happen. Most of the stuff she saying, including stealing is not what our groups encourage. Put Others First, Be Professional, and so on. I see these videos and think, if you feel something is not for you just let it go. For example, I see people who played collage football, went at it with the wrong mindset , or did the wrong things, and now talk negatively about it.. building an asset: network marketing, real estate, buying gold and silver, stocks .. you got to study the ins and outs of the asset- Robert Kiyoskai .. and Your Why is important too. Good luck to y’all but I just say not everyone is for some things

Check this out. I’ve been contemplating on whether I want to proceed in the process (which at this point I’m absolutely not going to). But I’ve kind of just been sitting back watching how everything pans out. I’ve been to a few of the meetings, they gave me an offer. I’ve been on the fence since the beginning, but my intuition and that gut feeling don’t lie. In every meeting they’re using the same language, strange. There’s this glorification of the “up line”. Initially, they don’t even mention what the business is, they just mask it as a mentorship opportunity, when in reality you’re just a pawn in their “business”. I’m an entrepreneur in real estate and so I originally thought it would be mentorship for your own personal business ventures. But boy was I wrong. The business side of things, they gloss over and paint it as being a very simplistic business model. I’m a very intelligent individual, but every damn time they tried to explain how this model worked, it never made since 😂 So moral of the story, get out before you even get in, because it’s all just a legal scheme. The rides been intriguing, but time to ✌🏽out.

So you mean to tell me you spend all this time creating content for your channel to spread “your truth” about network marketing? Sounds to me like you didn’t have the balls to work hard best because if others are succeeding it’s because it doesn’t work but because you didn’t. Also how sad to gain profit and gain notoriety from spreading negativity about something that has impacted so many lives positively.
You have a choice people, nobody is scheming to get your money, you ain’t got any anyway.
This guest of yours was making 120k a year. The system built her and if anything she’s proving that the business works but people aren’t perfect. People hurt her, not the business.

Ooh I thought messing with our upline's money was anything negative that could possibly mess with their downline. I'm so glad we always paid our bills and got groceries first. I'm sure our upline couple weren't happy with us. They would praise those IBO's that bought their conference tickets on day 1 then you'd see everyone on your team the next day donating plasma lol. We did that for about 3 months but my hubby, our downline (out adult kids in 20's) and myself kept having issues so we quit. My hubby refused to counsel with any of our upline concerning our finances or life. He said it was none of their business. We live kind of in the country and one of the higher up uplines told the upline above us our house is too expensive, we should move to the inner city. Well, we rent, and have 4 dogs, it's an older farmhouse, surrounded by several developments, but they were the only ones that let us have our dogs there. We were also advised to get rid of them at one point. The head upline guy said "a bullet is only $1!!" That ticked me off! We said no!

I think that's the key, they are interested when they're vulnerable but not if life is going great!! That makes sense why we got in when we did. We were going through 2 &1/2 years of extended family issues. That's how everyone gets snatched!! Invasion of the body snatchers lol!!(that's an old movie.)
