What a GREAT refresher
ОтветитьThank you so much for this informative guide. I was frustrated with Visio linking with Excel until you showed me how to do this via databases. It has opened a new world. Just the fact that I can now make changes directly on the flowchart & it updates on Excel has been a game changer for my line of work.
Ответить8 Yrs ago. Very complicated, A Lot OF Steps. Your soft tone was hard to understand.
ОтветитьVery nice for beginners! Thanks
ОтветитьAnyone know if there is a way to keep formatting of the linked data to shapes if you save the document in another location?
Ответитьi need the Inverse of this for tomorows Exam Its From Visio To excel
ОтветитьWhen you update the database, does the excel workbook need to be opened?
ОтветитьHi Chester,
even in 2017 thanks for this video, as I work in large ISP global provider supporting only Office 2010 and Visio Standard (I wait yet for Pro purchase approval), in era of Windows 10 and cloud SaaS software :-DD
Anyway, I got a great opportunity to learn a Visio more because of my personal impulse to make something better here, and though dissapointed with no straight data import, e.g using it in Sharepoint world.. at least for personal use it's great to know, that via this DB "relay" at least, I can do it on my PC... And like many things on Internet, just an accident I got to your great video channel.
Have a good time and be blessed in whatever good you do besides this. BR.
Horrible volume, fix it!
ОтветитьIn my experience there is no good way of excel import to Visio. Excel import to Visio usable only for simple porcesses or orgcharts. Even this is quite complicated. If you have description of more complicated proceses you will not be able to import it and will have to redraw it manually. Which is really funny if you have to redraw like 60+ different processes. This could be a main benefit of Visio.Unfortunately this is not the case. Probably if you know coding you could find a way to do it, but the option is not available for regular user. I find it as a major problem for a specialized and not really cheap flow chart software.
ОтветитьHello,
Your Visio is very ncie and really helped me a lot. But I am experience a problem. I actually added records in the Excel File with the Data source and I can not seem to find those additional rows in the Visio when I try adding new forms. Any ideas please ? I am quite stuck.
DOES THE FEATURE OF LINKING DATA TO THE VISIO SHAPES OR(DIAGRAMS) IN THE VISIO STANDARD 2016 OR IN PROFESSION VISIO VERSION ? OR BOTH PLEASE CLARIFY SOMEBODY
ОтветитьGreat video. What happens if a new row is added to the spreadsheet? or a new column? Thanks.
ОтветитьI opened another visio file and redid the data wizard for another excel file. However the master shape keeps refreshing data from my first file. How do you reassign the data to a master in another file?
ОтветитьHi, how can all SHAPEs we refreshed at the same time? Thanks for a great video!
ОтветитьI wish you would have done a mike check. So soft spoken although my volume is at it's max.
ОтветитьHi Chester, need your help her.
Is there a way to do this for multiple tabs in VISIO? and also is there a way to work with several master shapes?
Hi Chester, I need your expertise in this area. - Please I will like to know how to update my Visio drawings after changing some parameters in the excel database. Please is there a function I can click on Visio for it to update the drawings based on the updated excel database rather than re-creating the drawing from the scratch using the Wizard
ОтветитьHi Chester, Really useful post. Can you tell me if there is a command to updtate all the properties for all the shapes in a diagram? . The issue is that I changed the excel file and I dont know what exactly shape I need to update, and do it one by one takes a lot of time
really thanks
Hi Samuel. Thanks for your question. No follow on video to date I am afraid.
ОтветитьDid you do a follow on of Visio: Using the Database Wizard to Connect Excel Data to Visio Shapes?
