I enjoy the 1L early times Bib for $22. For me that’s true value
ОтветитьSi, great content as always!
ОтветитьThe Single Rickhouse seems to be nonexistent in Indiana.....I am usually an expert "searcher" but not this time, However the WT 101 is a staple at my local liquor store for 19,99+tax and the Rare Breed.....I was spoiled at the grand openings of a new Total Wine location......35.99...and I stocked up. Currently the local pricing is 48.99...which I still consider to be good. Indiana has some pretty good pricing on spirits....it is availability that presents problems throughout the year. I did just pick up a store pick of both Russell's Reserve Single Barrel (phenomenal) 59.99 and WT Kentucky Spirit for 49.99...............who did the picks??..........unbelievably ...Sam's Club.
ОтветитьI 100% agree with the video. The 2023 release of Russells Single Rickhouse CNF has an MSRP of $300, and Total Wine was "gracious" enough to offer me to buy it at $370 LOL! This is such a hard pass, it's really unfortunate to see how expensive their "premium" lineup is getting. I'll stick to rare breed and the russell's store picks, maybe the Russell's 13 as well.
ОтветитьWish they would produce a Double Rare Breed with older age statement. This is hands down one of my favorite go to bourbons!
Ответить$65 for Rare Breed here in SoCal. Found it for only $40 in Hawaii!!
ОтветитьFirst of all Rickhouse isn’t $500 and if you paid that you got ripped off. lol not even on secondary worth that much
ОтветитьYou guys always do this. You tear down a great whiskey by saying it's too much money. 101 is ok at best. Rickhouse is awesome. You only live once man. And, Rickhouse is super allocated so if you can get a bottle at retail and hold onto it you'll make money.
ОтветитьI smell and taste grass stains from WT 101
ОтветитьKeep this going
ОтветитьI love the idea but think secondary price should be considered. You will never find that for msrp at a store! But really enjoy these vids!
ОтветитьIn my opinion- rare breed is best whiskey for your money
ОтветитьThe concept of the videos is good, I agree with all other comments, but I do have a dissenting opinion. I’d argue that it’s a widely known fact that there are diminishing returns with higher end product, whether it’s liquor, handbags or furniture. Is a $5000 couch 10x better than a $500 couch? Hell no. But if one has the money in the budget, then why not try the nicer item. This all depends on people’s budgets. For some $250 for a bottle is no biggie, and “worth” the upgrade over WTRB.
ОтветитьListen, the "try it at a bar" doesn't work either. Bare minimum, the price per shot will be double at the bar. That puts a shot of the Russell's at minimum 25 bucks. So, spend 25 bucks for one shot or 25 bucks for the whole bottle of 101? I'm still going 101.
ОтветитьWT 101 and WT 101 Rye are always good pours. Just solid.
Ответить"Rare breed is $45-50 but Michigan is on the high end"
It's $90 here in Washington. 101 is $40-45. Makes me sad
Cat looks like he's put on through green screen.
ОтветитьWild turkey 101 is still under $20 in CA, one thing that is staying cheap here.
ОтветитьGive em a slight nut
ОтветитьGreat review
ОтветитьHyper usage of the word hyper 😅
ОтветитьWild Turkey 101 is my TOP TIER budget bourbon. It is drinking a payday with a cherry on top to me and I love everything about it. It is ALWAYS on my bar along with Old Forester 100 proof as an every day sipper, mixer for old fashions, whiskey sours, etc.
Ответитьwould like to see the russell's barell proof bottle that is about $80-100 in the comparison
ОтветитьWT 101, Old Forester 100, Early Times BIB, Evan Williams BIB and Old Grand Dad BIB / 114 always bring me back to earth to realize good bourbon does not have to cost so much.
ОтветитьI like these! Thanks guys
ОтветитьRare Breed in IN is $59.99 now
Kentucky Spirit is $65.00 now - if you can find it
Love this idea. Would be interesting to see it be even a tighter on the family. Russel’s 10- Russel’s single Barrel- Russel’s 13 for example.
ОтветитьI love the Rare Breed... unfortunately here, 101 is actually closer to $45 yet Rare Breed is on sale now for $39... I found 101 for $39 once so had both... I like both, if plain old Wild turkey was the same ratio in Canada as in the US I'd get 101 all the time... but.. Rare Breed at $39, I'm in.... I actually was getting low on both so tried a 50/50 mix of Rare Breed and 101 and really liked the result.. have you tried mixing Rare Breed with 101? I didn't try other ratios but liked the 50/50
ОтветитьPlease keep doing this series. This concept is really missing in the whiskey world.
ОтветитьGreat point. If you feel guilty about drinking the whiskey you bought, maybe you bought out of your budget.
ОтветитьIt's ALL status after $150, in MOST cases. Just like cars, you cannot enjoy a vehicle to the extent of it's cost over $250K, after that, you're probably not driving it a lot and just collecting and reselling.
ОтветитьWhat I like best about this video. The Cat!
ОтветитьI will take the 5 bottles of Rare Breed or 4 bottles of Russells SB over the Rickhouse
ОтветитьExcellent review. I had a 101/Rare Breed drink-along. I agree the Rare Breed finishes much stronger and just hits with much more flavor, not too surprising. However, here in good ol' KY, I can get a 750 of 101 for $20. a 1.75 costs me about $40! But a Rare Breed costs me $56. I have to start thinking hard: is a Rare Breed worth more [almost] than a 750 then another 1.75 on top of it? The answer? Yes, but savor the RB a bit more when enjoyed. Cheers.🥃
ОтветитьBuffalo Trace up to Blanton's would be pretty sick to hear. My favorite bourbon line.
ОтветитьRare Breed is my goto.Especially because its only $7 more, than Turkey 101 where I live(Rare=$35, 101=$28 bothe 700ml). Though I still have the 101 at all times.
ОтветитьGot a subscriber for the sheer brilliance of the back and forth you two have. Great stuff and fun to watch, even to a laymen.
ОтветитьWinCo and Fresno CA sells 101 for $18. Insane value at that price. Love rare breed and the rare breed rye. So damn money for the price
ОтветитьGood to know about the Russels. Would y’all say the 13yr is worth the cost?
ОтветитьAs someone who was in school for 7 years and isn't a doctor but married a doctor I found this oddly specific and relevant 😂
ОтветитьGreat show. Some times maybe a guest taster, perhaps a parent or sibling or fuck the local bar owner. Just an idea. Ignore if you want really like your honesty THE MOST.
ОтветитьRare breed is 70$ in my area 😭😭😭😭
ОтветитьEven Williams bottled and bond is the best cheap bourbon hands down.
ОтветитьI went in the WT gift shop the day it dropped. The Rickhouse is more of a collector bottle bc nothing is coming out of that Rickhouse ever again. That being said, I agreed with the counter person at WT when he said, I'd buy 4-5 SB Russels in place of 1 Rickhouse.
ОтветитьWould love to see this with something like Beam. Regular, vs. like Black or Devil's Cut, vs. Baker's, vs. Booker's, etc.
ОтветитьBuy the Russell's to ♻️
ОтветитьIf you wanted to go even cheaper, and still have a drinkable whiskey, I would go with Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. around $15 plus 8.25% sales tax here in Texas.
ОтветитьAwesome video guys! Thanks for your honesty!
ОтветитьKeep doing value videos within the same distillery. I also like the SABCDE videos which is practically the same idea.
ОтветитьJust a heads up if you didn’t know, but you can look up the price of any liquor bottle sold in Michigan on the Michigan Liquor Control website. Shows price to retailer and minimum shelf price. Could help with the videos about money and value
