When baking sugar is considered a liquid ingredient to be added with the liquids instead of the dry. thus it may be interesting to reduce the water volume by the amount of sugar added this also explains the increased liquidity causing more slump.

What about adding salt? The Romans made concrete that would harden under water. Scientists have found that the salt water makes it harder.👷

So, can we use sugar as a plasticizer or water reducer such that for the same amount of water the mix becomes more workable?

Don't put sugar in concrete, sugar is what destroys concrete.
This like the dumbest experment ever i just don't get why someone would purposely add sugar to concrete

Is there a follow-up on this one on concrete with sugar? Would like to see a test on the strength of those samples! Also, as a layman, I have a question, namely, is there any initially water soluble extra ingredient to add to a concrete mix that once dried will act as a water proofing agent?

That's interesting, so suger acts like a super plasticizer kind of, I do all kinds of experiments with Portland to help improve Aircrete for the diy dome home builders and a cheap easily accessible water reducer would definitely help.

Hi. I was wondering if you can help me.
I’m trying to get an answer and mostly I’m getting guessing.
I’m building an outdoor porcelain patio. (Tile is 24 by 24 inches 3/4 quarter thick). And I can’t get a straight answer about what to use in order to connect it to the 4 inch concrete slab I’ve made. So far the answer include tinset, mortar and Portland cement. Thank you in advance.

Have you ever tried to harden wood by letting it dry in cement powder under a vacuum? The cellulose should absorb the cement as the wood expels its moisture. Putting it under pressure may help keep the board straight and bring fresh cut over sized closer to its final size without processing it further. I have a feeling that Starlite was made in a similar way but different chemicals.

The sugar reacts as a water retention additive as well as a retarder, we use a high amounts of granular sugar in the mill process for Type-S Mortar, clinker + limestone + milling aid additives + sugar

I know this is an older video but I would like to know if making planters or pots for flowers and vegetables would be OK with a quick Crete or cement all I’ve heard that giving it a water bath helps to leach out the lime so it doesn’t affect the plants is that true?

Isn't plasticizer also a replacement for water. Cause less water is better when mixing concrete. I do believe when one adds more plasticizer one needs to also decrease the amount of water one is using.
