Why does everybody rant and rave about this program. All it does for me is crash constantly, not even on rendering but even just clicking along timeline or making certain edits, and this on a 20 minute 780p video with no effects or fancy stuff. I have 16GB ram, Ryzen 5 3600 and XFX 4GB X Fury GFX, should do this easily. It's a piece of crashy shit! You shouldn't have to do this sort of thing to get it to work.

I had no lines at all, blue or red...it just says Rendering In Progress, but nothing is moving.

@needforbeans stupid question. no matter if i choose Render Cache Color Output or not, i cant see that red / blue bar. can you tell me why ?

Thanks for the tips, unfortunately in my case it does not work.

It allows the project to render but all the layered effects are messed up.
I often have 4 or 5 layers of video with masks, fusion, title and such and compounding those breaks all the effets :(

What if it keeps getting stuck at the same spot on the pre-render?

Even with a couple of short clips with no music it crashes. It's a pile of shit. No problems with premier pro.

So I tried all the methods but I kept getting "Rendering in progress" while the time increases and the percentage count didn't start. I checked the logs and it says issue with nvidea (can't allocate memory). I removed the drive and davinci and reinstalled them but the issue persisted. So what I finally did was removing the whole davinci configuration s file from Roaming in the User/App Data. Then things work again fine. Then open Davinci and reassign the Caching directory. BUT BEFORE DOING THIS EXPORT YOUR TIMELINE SO YOU DONT LOSE YOUR WORK

i have tried it several times and have also rendered a short video and than return to the original. It continues to crash while I load the blue bar. anyone tips?

On your render cache format did you leave it at uncompressed 10 bit or did you change it? Thanks!

@needforbeans, Why I get "Media Offline" when I use this method, and always at 90% percent rendering part?
I am pretty sure it would work wonderfully if it could get to 100% rendering.

If none of these work, especially if your project isn't crashing on any particular frame, Make a new project and copy your timeline into it, then try rendering. Worked atlast for me!
