Your videos are INCREDIBLE and so helpful. Can you tell me what kind of Hand Drill you have in this video. I've found alot of cheap plastic ones but the one in your video is all metal!
ОтветитьDidn't agree you saying beginners need 2X72 grinder as I did build my own under $ 200 and it's not top of the line but I'm a hobbyists and never going to pay $ $ $ for a hobby that I as a hobby can make many of my equipment for fraction of the market.
I would put a 1x30 grinder in my top 10 and a portable band saw and angle grinder also a set of tiny files as most everyone has basic set of files on hand.
But it's my view
Thanks for helping us
I’ve been a machinist for 21 years and I called drill bits drill bits😂
Ответитьwhat about one of the most important tools, the hammer
ОтветитьHand cuffs… don’t ask…. 😂
ОтветитьHave you Ever use super glue to glue your handles on I was told by a couple knife makers does it last longer and doesn’t give up overtime like epoxy does
Ответить"I have $10,000 or so worth of tools." Guaranteed his wife thinks he has only spent $995. And she is still pissed.
ОтветитьI'm impressed. That doesn't happen often, so accept the complement
ОтветитьWhat about the hammer? 🤭
ОтветитьWhy aren't you announcing football games? 🤷♂️
ОтветитьThat handcuff 'joke' (Though I suspect it wasn't) got you a new subscriber from down under. Good stuff, mate.
ОтветитьIf you have basic metal working equipment, experience and the Internet, it's not that hard to build you're own belt grinder. Just do a lot of research
ОтветитьVery informative.
ОтветитьWhat about an anvil
ОтветитьThis was very helpful and the examples with the handcuffs are hilarious.
ОтветитьThis dudes voice makes him seem like the type of guy to give you amazing advice but be really blunt about it
ОтветитьShhh I wanna hear the rain ASMR
ОтветитьI built the revolution belt grinder from brian house at house works, did it in steps, the laser cut steel chassis, then the wheel kits, the motor and vfd, I started forging a year ago
ОтветитьBest begginer tip: you can make anything look good with a grinder
ОтветитьYeh thanks for the videos and for not talking down to us. And yeh also how great your shop is.
ОтветитьThis is a great video, but as a new knife maker, I would change a few things for me. First, rather than spend $2K on a 2x72, get an Angle Grinder and learn how to use it. Then make a knife beveling jig. I've seen many a YT knife maker use a 1x30 Belt Sander to good effect and for $50, you really can't go wrong. Drill press? Hmmmm...
ОтветитьNice job on this! I'm just say'n!! Good list well put together. Thanks
ОтветитьMy grandfather was a furniture maker before ww2 , went to war and came back to continue making furniture. I don't belive i ever saw a power tool in his shop. Just not the way it was done, he used hand tools for 40 years. Worked out fine.
ОтветитьIf i go with a 1095 steel do i need to heattreath it? If i have to, can i heat treath it on coal in a stone block? Or wont that go to high enough heat?
ОтветитьDude looks high as a bird.
Ответитьi’m not even out of high school yet, and i wanna start making knives, this is so interesting!! also, my enjoyment of both baking and blades will make for a very interesting resume
ОтветитьSubbed.
Ответить..caliper... sorry for mistyping..
ОтветитьHi, Walt, my congrats, nice report, hu ! anyway for an accurate capliper I suggest an analogic mabe by Mauser, the rifle factory.. ;-)
ОтветитьTalk too much!
ОтветитьHi Walter, could you share which steel suppliers are most consistent
w/quality, price & service?
U inspire me master!!!
ОтветитьYo know you don’t have to buy a big аss belt grinder. When you can just get a bench belt grinder... 😐
ОтветитьPerfect list. Start where you are and eventually you will have a world class workspace. Same goes for all disciplines of handcraft.
ОтветитьCan you tell me what the blue paint/ dye is you use for marking out. Thanks
ОтветитьThe best tool was the friends we made along the way!
ОтветитьI managed to get a new drill press for 80$
ОтветитьGreat informative video thank you for sharing.
ОтветитьHehehe. That handcuff comment. I was maybe 7 or 8 when I was spending the night at my buddy's house. At some point, one of his dad's friends shows up in cuffs and guess what dear old Dad used. Yup, he picked the damn thing.
ОтветитьVery helpfull
ОтветитьSuper helpful video. I have zero skills in this arena but it actually seems learnable!
ОтветитьTool 11 good music
ОтветитьI’m wondering if the Barry Douglas Limited Edition knife would be better than the items you turn out. I’m pretty sure that you more or less do need lots of money worth on tools.
ОтветитьSorry, but sandpaper is a tool not for long use....... Thanks
Ответить11.Hammers .. 12.Anvil.
ОтветитьYour voice and mannerisms give me douche chills
ОтветитьAccidentally called them drill 'bits'..... my grandfather let me know in a heartbeat that they are just simply called: a drill.
Ответитьfor anyone wondering about sharpening, Worksharp diamond plates last forever and work great.
ОтветитьLol them clamp ocean is a workshop unaccounted fatal cost.
Ответить
