Whether you need a GRE or whether it is useful for being accepted is different from program to program. Here at Paderborn University in the computer science master program, you are required to send a GRE certificate if your grade is 1.6 or higher on the German scale (where lower numbers mean better grades with 1.0 being the best possible grade). So, if your converted grade is, say, 1.6 or 2.1, e.g., your application would immediately be rejected if you don’t send a GRE certificate with certain scores. If, on the other hand, your converted grade is 1.5 or even better (lower value), you are not required to send a GRE certificate. For our program, we only check quantitative reasoning (where you need a score of 157) and analytical writing (where you need a score of 4.0). In other programs and at other universities, other rules apply. So make sure to check on the websites of the universities where you want to apply what the exact rules are. (BTW: I should add that there is an alternative to GRE called digital Mastertest (dMat) that may substitute a GRE certificate for some programs and at some universities.)

I don't know if you will reply to this, But I got this question.

My 12th is over now and I am starting to take up CSE in H+ institution in 2024 here in India. But I want to study Physics which Indian unis are not good at.

So If I do 1 year of CSE here in India, can I apply to German unis for BSc Physics program, is it possible or not. As 1 Year in Uni will give the 13 years of education and most Unis in India have 1st year common for all. so can I get into BSc Physics after 1st year In India

I wish you could’ve said this a year ago. Now after receiving rejects from Stuttgart university and FH Dortmund, I seriously feel like preparing for GRE would’ve been useful.
