Thankyou so much for your insight and knowledge I feel privileged to be able to listen to you as you share your knowledge and expertise with us all.
ОтветитьBit ruff
ОтветитьHave just rewatched this episode and it was the daffodils, the real fire, Cedric in his basket which struck and made me think what a lovely welcoming home you have Philip. The artwork, of course, adds to it and makes it unique. I am waiting until my brother in law is able to come and visit and help me put my paintings up and make my house into a home.
ОтветитьLetters are a beautiful phenomenon . Cursive Art . Relaxing to the soul .
ОтветитьShame they didn't discuss his diary
ОтветитьPlease keep posting, post isolation?
ОтветитьHey Philip, is the nude on the top right spot next to the fireplace by Maurice Ehlinger? I'm a fan and collector of his work and it looks like it could be from what i can see so now i'm curious lol
Ответитьlets all look a eric gill and call him a national treasure not
ОтветитьI do find your honouring of the art of Eric Gill quite distasteful. I say this quite honestly as to me it is exactly like studying the life of Jimmy Saville and praising his charity work and the lives it no doubt changed for the better. Let us never forget Eric Gill raped his own children and the family dog and to somehow hold his art up in some kind of reverence is beyond distasteful and a little evil. One as a human being surely cannot, must not, ever put aside his crimes and separate his art from the former under any circumstances as this man reached such a debouched capacity to both cause his art and his person to be wiped out and excluded from the human race. I do find the statue in front of the BBC as utterly repugnant. This man was a totally evil entity.
ОтветитьI will echo what so many have expressed before me. Your sensitivity, insight and empathy toward the art that you love, as well as your home and it's history, are invaluable. You produce these videos, welcoming the world into your own home, and I am truly grateful for your generosity. All the best to you and your family from Maine, USA.
ОтветитьIf I had all the money in the world I'd live in a house just like yours. A beautiful simple cottage filled with glorious works of art.
ОтветитьI’ve always wanted to take an Art History course. Now I can listen to your many shows which are much more interesting! Love your enthusiasm for all things art!
ОтветитьI am a graphic designer by profession. I have always enjoyed “Gill” typeface. I love the classic form of his typeface.
ОтветитьHow wonderful you are warning a loose foulard. This the flair we need tee from a British gentleman
. Thank you!
What about the lovely letters he put together in his proud admissions of pedophilia and beastiality
ОтветитьAbsolute dross,!!😵💫🇬🇧
ОтветитьWhy are you covering a Paedophiles art ?
Not cool, not cool at all.
Pedo patronage
ОтветитьI love art but i wouldn't have that a peadophile did
ОтветитьWronnnnnnnnnnngggggggeeeeennnnn
Ответитьlove this program
ОтветитьI'm really late to the party, however, having majored in art and graphic design I found this video quite satisfying. I used to argue with my professor that fine art and design were connected. He disagreed whole heartedly. I still think I'm right. 😉
ОтветитьOk better two years late than never at all. Speed watching this wonderful series. Fascinating subjects, what a lovely diversion. Information is power, each of of us knows today a little bit more than we did yesterday.
ОтветитьSeptember 2022.
If nothing else, we can thank lockdown for Philip’s wonderful videos. They are addictive.
❤️🐕🦺❤️
I know I'm late to the party but I just found this series. Gill is also a font choice for Microsoft Word...makes so much sense.
ОтветитьThank you. This is such a joy.
ОтветитьHello Oliver! All the best.
ОтветитьGreatly appreciated 🙏father and son..Gill reminds my of that other great unique italian artist who gave us gold statues..maybe you know of whom I speak and who lived around the time of casanova . Marvelous
ОтветитьLove your vids. Cedric is living well. A dogs life? Hope you are all doing well.
ОтветитьEric Gill who sexually abused his daughters 😱😱
ОтветитьI am just finding this, February 2023. Thank you!!
ОтветитьI like these shows, I am fascinated with the house's history, it would be great to trace the Manor back to the Norman occupation and its metamorphosis into its current state ( which is charming)
ОтветитьI need you to show each single art piece in your possession. I am obsessed now❤
ОтветитьI find joy in letters and numbers. Doesn't everyone?
ОтветитьEric Gill, he was a bad 'un. Don't think I'd want something of his in the house. Don't suppose the dog gets good vibes off it either.
ОтветитьPhilip you are such a great teacher!
ОтветитьYou glorify Eric Gill? Someone who raped his daughters and had sex with animals? What is this nonsense? Christies would not touch your piece that you bought with them now. It's essentially almost worthless like a Rolf Harris. I wouldn't want any of that stuff in my house it gives off bad vibes like a Hitler Watercolour.
ОтветитьJust another pedo.
ОтветитьIs he the one who carved the BBC statue ?
ОтветитьNoncesense
ОтветитьA man of Letters ..and those letters spell ..Nonce
ОтветитьYes let's celebrate a man who has sex with dogs and kids.
ОтветитьWhy are there two kinds of q’s on the top and second line?
ОтветитьGlorifying a child rapist. Yuk
ОтветитьWas there a correlation between Gills nuovo lettering and the 3rd reich's wish to use germanic blackletter?
ОтветитьErrrrrr…….Eric Gill? Love his work…but his life choices were criminal
ОтветитьI suggest fans of Eric Gill should read the Wikipedia page about him, especially the section called 'Sexual abuse' and say you still like him afterwards.
ОтветитьEric Gill was a very depraved man.
ОтветитьShame he left out Edward Johnston, Gill's teacher and inspiration behind the calligraphy revival.
Ответитьcan’t believe your celebrating the work of a man who raped his daughters and the family dog.
Ответить
