You Might Be a Bladesinger | Wizard Subclass Guide for DND 5e

I played a Dervish Dancer spell crit Magus in pathfinder once, and my DM really didn’t like that character. Flavor wise I was basically a bladesinger.
At level 7 I crit for over 100 damage with a shocking grasp in my sword. One shot the boss :)

May i intro duce you to the Hex blade warlock blade singer. Effective at level 7 and you get to sub out the level 6 cantrip for the good old eldritch blast.

Yeah. The high ac seems op. But I play a Bladesinger and it doesn’t help you if a green dragon breaths on you. AC is nice, but if you can’t make your saving throws you will die nonetheless.

Elven Accuracy and Foresight. And if you start with 17 dex, you aren't even losing anything for taking that!

Couple things. Mage armor only works with no armor. Also, I didn't think bladesinger could use a shield.

Get Silvery Barbs to nullify all critical hit because it forces a re-role as a reaction

Also with the extra attacks you can cast shocking grasp at an enemy wearing metal armor with advantage and still get another hit in while you are also much safer because your ac is so much higher than a regular wizard.

That's not how mage armor works but yeah

1 level in artificer. CON save profiency. Use a scimitar in one hand and shadow blade in the other. Shadowblade doesn't get a bonus from ability score mod so you don't need 2 weapon fighting. Get to 6 for your extra attack then go back to artificer for armorer. Take Infiltrator. Now you get a scimitar attack, and laser eye that deals 1d6, 2d6 on subsequent turns and a bonus action shadowblade that you can occasionally have advantage with.
Not fast enough? Take one of the many elves with misty step. One of them even gives you RESISTANCE TO ALL DAMAGE AFTER YOU USE IT.

Technically Lightning Bolt is better in the long run (which a Bladesinger will survive to) because more creatures are resistant or immune to fie damage than lightning damage. At later levels you can get counterspell and fireball, but starting out with lightning bolt is technically better for the long run.

I love Blade dancer so much, it's not the best wizard sub class, but god I love it. Personally, my bladesong for my changeling is him spinning his sword around actively

May I introduce you to the Echosinger?

3 levels of fighter nets you Action surge, a fighting style, a mild self heal, and a fucking busted ass Echo to use as a ghetto shield and misty step when its not making all your attacks for you from 30 feet away.

So far my favorite character ever is a drunken gunslinger/Bladesinger (GunSinger) that uses every bit of bladesong to augment bullshit but unfortunately losing out on the song of victory. But it’s alright, sharpshooter fixes that issue right up and I have it as 11fighter levels and 9 wizard so I can shoot 7 times in a round and use an Owl to shoot lightning and flip the bird when I trick shot using a pepperbox. Very satisfying, no close quarters and JACKED AC.

I always played a bard for that blade caster bro. I do wanna try blade singer. I been a fan of more material classes. I will one day play this subclass. I even thought of having a cane sword. I thought of doing it as a dwarf. So a dwarf caster with a cane sword that would talk smack.

Bladesingers have also one very good weapon wich is shit on everry other class: whip. Whip allows you to cast booming blade on enemies and then tell them to come at me b*tch, and if that wasn't enough, get yourself a +10 bonus to it where it's negligable if it's a d8 or a d4 because that's a +10 anyways. If you wanna make yourself extra annoying, learn blade ward, getting resistance to bulgeoning, piercing, and slashing for a whole turn so if they accidentally roll a 20 you can just tell them that you don't want to be touched. then clap their cheeks with two extra thrown dark blades because it's fun. optionally, you can cast fireball on yourself, throwing a literal nuke on enemies, absorb elements the damage you deal to yourself, negate it with song of defence to 0 and deal that damage back to the enemies because haste.

On Cid, never laughed so hard. 😂

Doesn't Haste knock you out on your next turn? What's the best way to deal with that?

Your mastery should be silvery barbs, never get hit with a critical hit again. Then find ways to get your AC up without using shield. Because yes you can get ridiculously high AC without Shield, Shield is just really good.

It’s niche but kinda wanna see the War Magic wizard. Think it might be on par with blade singer if do it right.
