can anyone confirm if this displays the volume bar/volume overlay at 4K60? current AVR only shows at 4K30 and AVR is in cabinet so need volume feedback on screen

Bought and calibrated the receiver with Dirac twice now. Bass/LF seems too conservative in stereo 2.1 or generally. The Sony AN1000 I returned for this Onkyo had no issue woth bass. What to do and can I change the low bass?

Thought the elephant in the room was the defective DSP chips that failed. Has Onkyo resolved this problem?

I've been eyeing the TX-NR7100 AVR for a while as well as the Pioneer Elite VSX-LX305. The Onkyo wins out on specs IMHO (IMAX, THX Select Certified, speaker EQ not a global setting, etc.,, and some of them I prefer to have, yet reading all the comments gives one pause for concern. Oh well, these things age out in 5-10 years anyway. I've had Onkyo, Denon and Pioneer AVRs in the past (I've been doing home theater for a while :) and they've all been solid, yet the recent mergers and acquisitions have seemingly reduced them all to commonly traded commodities.

The answer is no this onkyo is the worst receiver and at that price wow what a rip off. Damn I'm a sucker, should have stayed with a known brand that actually works.

I'm really leaning towards buying this the 7100 but it's tough not hearing it in person I'm choosing between it and the Sony str an-1000 . The room is going in is used 95% for tv, streaming and movies. Either that or if there's something better from Denon around the $1,000 mark. I can get the Onkyo for $850, the Sony $50 more

I'm looking at this receiver, for the same money I can get the Sony an1000 or spend a little more for the Denon 2700h. Almost entirely used for home theater purposes.

I have a TX-NR686 and it is nearly identical to the 7100. I am disappointed in the plastic front as my older TX-SR676 is aluminum and has a more premium feel to it.

I regret getting Onkyo. It broke down in less than a year. They went to extraordinary lengths to NOT honor the warranty and when they finally decided to honor it they lasted an eternity to fix the unit. Once fixed I gave it away and bought another brand

I have an Onkyo NR7100 for a little over a year and a half, and I’ve noticed that the switching IMO is subpar. It constantly shows no signal on my TV in between source switching and when a program stops. I’ve done firmware updates, swapped TVs, factory reset, swapped out HDMI cables, dumbed down resolutions, contacted Onkyo directly. I’m at my wits end. Any advice?

Do you recommend the Onkyo TX-NR7100 or the Pioneer VSX-LX305? The speakers I'll be using are the Klipsch Reference 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos. First time buying a receiver, so have no idea which is better as I know you mentioned they are very similar. They are both similar prices, so any advice would be much appreciated!

I have had three Onkyo receivers in the last several years, and two of them recently are the 6050 model. It has been plagued with power cycling issues, and both of them did it, which sucks.
I’m having a hard time thinking I will never buy another Onkyo product ? 🤷🏻‍♂️

There is One huge question for audioholics. when buying a Flagship receiver know that over 90% of av receivers are NOT made in Japan. that includes many flagship receivers including Marants. Yamaha. Denon. Onkyo. etc. which makes a Huge difference.
for example. Yamaha RX-A8A is made in Japan. while there is NO difference between the Yamaha A6A (they're virtually identical) the A6A is made in Malaysia. but has a $1000 lower MSRP price difference. still not the same quality unit.

Thank you for your review! The NR6100 was on sale, so it was the choice in our price range. My better half made the speaker decision with Klipsch Reference Premiere II 5 1/4" bookshelf speakers for the downsize. Looking forward to hooking it all up! Again, thanks for taking the time to present these reviews and other information!

Can I adjust the output stages on the ACR? So limit the power to a certain value? The MA Bronze 200, for example, have an RMS of 140 watts. The Onkyo TX-NR7100 offers 170 watts at 6 ohms. Can I then limit this so as not to destroy the speaker?

Are there any receivers that don't use BGA processors on the HDMI board? Yes I'm looking squarely at the DSP units on my TX-NR636. I'm about to see if I can coax it back into life with a heat gun. I don't have high hopes. If such a unit exists my next receiver will have no ball grid array processors. BGA makes fun things like Xbox rrod or spurious malfunctions that get worse. Product lifetime is halved and repair difficulty goes un by 20x. BGA sucks.

Went through 2 Onkyo 6100's in a week. First one would change inputs and or turn off when touching the volume. Chromecast worked maybe 40 percent of the time. 2nd one turned on by itself and would not change the display while running on Bluetooth to match the song being played. Back to Denon I go!

I've been back and forth for a month betwenn current needs and getting X1700H for my current speaker setup.
Then I found out about DIRAC and thinking about adding aditional 2 hights... came real close to justification of Cinema 50 and not transparent, unavailable Dirac licence, only to find out Onkyo has the full multichnel licence built in and costs several hundreds less.
All in all that is at least a $1000 in savings even if you need preamps, 11.2
RZ50 vs Cinema 50... Looks isn't worth that much sadly...
X2800H/ 3800H vs 7100... 9.2 and free DIRAC... Literally no brainer.

Incredible...

I bought onkyo tx nr 555 on June 2015 and in January 2023 my onkyo tx nr 555 channels died the repairing cost was nominal but till now it is still unrepairable. I would say I am really satisfied with this product and I would buy another av receiver from onkyo company only. Ready to shell out some extra money too

I had my onkyo died (HDMI)on me just after two years. That was it for me. All other receivers I had before the onkyo just needed an upgrade due to new technology and not being compatible with new devices . I even still have a Kenwood receiver that works just fine.
I just cannot consider onkyo when shopping for a receiver.

I had very, very bad experience with onkyo tx rz 830. Allready twice sent for repair due to faulty hdmi controller. How few months ago, one of the hdmi out went gone and now 2nd one - so I have to pack and send it for repair again. Really a disaster. Lot of descriptions of same problem on the net. Another thing I completly do not understand, is that using two outputs - hdmi / sub for projector / tv , I had always to manually change something, to have screen on first or second device. No way to have it just cloning the same image on two hdmi outputs, so whatever I will start - tv or projector, I have the same image. Sorry Onkyo, is it really rocket science to do this? Are You really that stupid to not understand, that with two video output devices, You really need this instead of looking for key combo each time when You change from one hdmi output to another? Pls let me know is it fixed in 7100 - can it provide the same image on both hdmi-outs, or still is a "big problem" for Onkyo?

I have owned many Onkyo and Integra components over the years, and my current pre/pro is the Onkyo PR RZ5100. My experience with this pre/pro has turned me against the brand for good. It has a fault that not even a factory repair service was able to fix. If I attempt to use it with Wi-Fi to stream music it locks up, becomes unresponsive and has to be reset by unplugging it. The repair service had the same problem with it, replaced some parts, etc., which took several weeks. That did not fix the problem. IMHO it's inexcusable for a company to sell a product with this defect, especially in this high tech age - it says something about their commitment to quality control. Sorry to be negative, but buyer beware. FWIW.
