be water, my friends!
ОтветитьI know less after this
Ответитьevery language learning video is about how "this wont work for you" lol... ppl don't understand that everyone learns differently and that people are utilizing multiple resources.. smh yaaaaaawn
ОтветитьAnki is fine for vocabulary, spelling, and obscure kanji. But it isn't super useful if you don't supplement it with grammar lessons, speaking with native speakers, immersion techniques, and other, more traditional language learning methods and tools. It's just a good flash card system /shrug. It isn't some godly new hack to learn a language. It is literally just a flash card app that does what you could do yourself but quickly and easily.
ОтветитьI just read the title, and want to watch to any videos of your channel 😊 I'll add your channel to my black list after this comment. You should create videos with a titles like "You can't reach the stars with Anki", "You can't find a love with Anki", "You can't move to another country with Anki", and etc. ( same for each language tool ). You are welcome ( for ideas ) 😉 Clickbate "culture" is terrible, but with that now you have +1 view, +1 comment and -1 potential subscriber, maybe its worth it, idk.
ОтветитьAnki is the best way to immerse thyself in the language if ye weren't born in the country ye want to learn from, without it I'll never start to understand everything. Maybe I have an innate lack of communication skills, but that's why it's terrible being ADHD+ neurodivergent. So don't give a shite about the opinions of those influencers, rich c*nts who can afford any private tutor because of their obscenely wealthy parents.
Anki is just a puzzle to understand everything, yet not to speak or write well, so do it with Deeple Write and other tools ye like.
The relationship part is only true if Japanese is the only/main language you can/ agree to communicate in. Oftentimes(like in my case) the person from Japan also wants to learn English so that might be the main language you use to communicate at least until your Japanese is better than his/her English(for example) and as English is easier, it's more likely the case that you'd actually use it. Struggling to communicate can make it very tough to be in a relationship. But it really is beneficial if you are forced to use that language as I've always said it "imagine you wake up at night from a bad dream, or even wake up in the morning and are sleepy AF... You have no choice but to use that language to communicate with your partner".
ОтветитьSo does it help or no?
Ответитьbased Anki
ОтветитьI've been using anki for about 2 years, and immersing for 1 year. What I can tell you is that my sense of improvement skyrocketed once I started immersing and sentence mining while doing so. Anki is an excellent tool for learning vocab, but it shouldn't be abused. It's important to find a good balance between anki and immersion, that way you are still learning essential vocab and properly being exposed to the language. In the next 1-2 years I plan on stopping making new anki cards, and focusing entirely on immersion and conversation.
ОтветитьLink to the japanese speakers ranked video?
ОтветитьObviously a flash card app won’t make you fluent , it’s a piece of a puzzle
Ответитьlisten learning a new language it means you have to work on all the skills not just one, for me I use anki for reviewing. if you don't write down what you learn and use them in speaking...what you expect? i mean some people only use anki for learning!!
ОтветитьNo no, I dont use Anki... I prefer paper notes.. this is totally different thing... never use Anki...
ОтветитьI wasnt expecting this video to be so motivating thank you so much
ОтветитьAnki is the best way to brute force memorize things, which is important for vocabulary building and languages like Japanese with tons of characters to memorize.
If you use it for its intended purpose, then it's an awesome tool.
Anki only works with reading/speaking/listening/writing combinations. Trying to memorize by Anki and waiting to remember things while using language DOESN'T work. Basically for example you saw a card "HELLO" and with anki you memorized it for a week. After you must see in context or hear this vocab. my technique is I find podcasts and transcript study and add Anki to unknown vocabulary. thank you I hope it helps.
ОтветитьI taught myself Korean to fluency inside 2 years almost exclusively using conversation audios and anki that utilised both words, sentences and audio. The traditional anki settings suck, use Ali's recommended settings. I was easily learning up to 50 words a day doing this, do tonnes of input, get the basics of grammar down then cram lots of words and sentences. People shitting on anki are either lazy or don't know how to use it properly, it's completely overpowered imo
ОтветитьYour point of view failed since everybody loves anki and is EFFECTIVE.
Ответитьthanks for your sharing!!!
ОтветитьI hate this argument against Anki. It's just a supplement i know it doesn't work by itself but that's so obvious. It's way more effective and faster using anki to catch up to natives, especially with passive vocabulary otherwise it will take you unnecessarily more time so I'll keep using it because i know how to use it lol.
ОтветитьI keep forgetting vocabulary anki aint working
ОтветитьNowadays I prefer the GOLDLIST METHOD, cause besides helping me to memorize the vocab, it helps me too improve my writing, and it feels great having direct contact with paper and pen + a physical notebook full of vocab. AND IT TAKES LESS TIME THAN ADDING NEW ANKI CARDS (HAVING YOUR EYES TIRED LOOKING AT THE PHONE/COMPUTER SCREEN).
ОтветитьThe Hellotalk part get me subscribed and deleting the app at the same time, thanks a lot
ОтветитьHow about you use both full immersion and anki? You quantify your progress, memorize words better, and gain constant input and output from fill immersion.
ОтветитьAs someone who cant even hold a conversation in their native language english, Im going to try anyway, starting with the core 6k deck. see you on the other side guys
Ответитьliterally the only way I've learned english and japanese grammar is because I was talking with natives and I was constantly being corrected lol
ОтветитьI think it’s amazing in terms of memory, you will improve so much using it, however I HATE using it and forcing yourself to do it day in day out if you don’t like it will kill your motivation ( as I found out) so now I don’t use it at all
ОтветитьSome harsh truths about language learning.
99% of the criticisms about ANKI boils down to, "hurr duurr you should talk to people instead, hurrr durr, ANKI is boring, talking is meaningful."
Problem is: unless you ALREADY have at least around 20 to 30 thousand words under your belt, at least in your passive vocabulary, you just CANNOT have any meaningful conversation with an educated adult. 99% of arguments against ANKI has this fallacy, "just talk to natives", as if you could talk even with a 5 year old child witth severe cognitive deficiency with 100 words. You CAN NOT. You'll struggle to have a conversation after at least yours first 10 thousand words. And ANKKI will get you there.
Let's be clear, you morons.
This:
"I like the color red, and I like sushi. I want to visit Japan... one day." What's your hobby?"
I like playing the guitar, and you?'
This is NOT a CONVERSATION. That's a fuckin' DRILL!!!!
This is only a conversation if you have the IQ of a broken glass of beer.
A conversation IS NOT trying the words you've learned. A conversation is talking about a SUBJECT. And both in the interaction must be truly interested in the subject, not just helping each other.
And YEAS, NAKI is, in fact, a lot boring! But THAT shit above?? "My favorite color is red. What's yours?" That to me is ten thousand times worse. That's been sent to the 9th circle of HRLL!! I'd rather do over 3 hours of ANKI.
If you not, that's okay. But it's NOT that you'd rather "have a conversation". It's that you'd rather DRILL a boring conversation that even a CHILD would rather jump off of a building instead of being forced to have it in reality.
Honestly I wasted a lot of years trying to memorize kanjis, and I was upwards of 4500 cards, doing 700-1000 cards a day, even carefully. I still struggled with sentences. I now only read in Japanese, and practice listening and having conversations. If I find something I don’t understand, I quickly look it up in a jisho. This has improved my Japanese far more, as reading is like reviewing flash cards like a machine gun, plus I recognize all the most important vocabularies, I swear by this method, I’ve been studying since 2014
ОтветитьI always forget words I don't use often. So anki keeps them refreshed. But of course, anki by itself is not gonna make you fluent.
ОтветитьSummary of the video: learning a new language takes tons and tons of input which means endeless (thousands of) hours
With that said: yes, anki is good
But im the video they say it's not just for the sake of trolling I guess and baiting you into commenting and creating engagement out of a straight lie
So should i use Anki or not lol
Ответитьbro said allat and didn't give a reason lmao
ОтветитьSo what is the fastest way to improve my japanese ?? Do you guys have app reccomandations (I want to be able to have text/voice communication with native)
ОтветитьListening and copying good japanese doeakers. ✔️
ОтветитьI just find it to be a really helpful tool for learning at least until the intermediate level. It's the easiest way to force yourself to review old stuff. I know I don't often have the discipline to make myself review old stuff even though I should and Anki helps keep me on track with that stuff.
ОтветитьMy girlfriend is from Kyoto !....she teaches me everything that i don't know ... about families and everything , but how should I properly start learning...i know hiragana and katakana .but how should I start...for speaking and grammar
ОтветитьNice video! Could you share your anki deck?
ОтветитьSharp teeth 👌✨
ОтветитьAnd how do you make sure to learn new kanji at a good pace ? One can't deny that immersion is good to learn to speak but no really to read isn't it ?
ОтветитьI am well into my language learning journey. I was never a fan of anki. I simply do not like flash cards. I have opted to read high level text, use workbooks, and speak with natives. I use a very tedious process for my reading immersion. This alone has exponentially grown my vocabulary and grammar. Everyone is different. Where flash cards and repetition does not work for me, it will be the best thing for someone else.
ОтветитьProblem with me is I've been lazy. Barely any immersion in two years apart from anime with English subs and I haven't added shit to anki apart from doing cards I got from refold and stuff. I really do need to add sfuff
ОтветитьI often think about these studying methods since I grew up in America, though I was raised by parents and family members who spoke Cambodian/Khmer. Immersion wasn't enough for me to become fluent in the language (and I'm still not fluent. I would say I'm a beginner who uses broken Khmer even though I've been speaking the language my whole life). Now, I'm living in Japan, and I've been studying Japanese more intensely on my own with Anki and such, but even though I can barely hold a 3-minute conversation in Japanese, I feel like I'm making much more progress than I did with learning Cambodian/Khmer (heck, now, I probably know more Japanese vocabulary than Khmer vocabulary). Immersion is not enough I think, and I think you pick up bad habits along the way if you don't get corrections and you don't actively make efforts to review things you've heard before to make yourself sound more fluent. I also look at my dad as an example since he came to America when he was in his 30s and just picked up English through immersion (he can't even read English). However, he speaks with broken English and doesn't actively work on his mistakes or try to expand his vocabulary. So in order to sound truly fluent, I think active studying (with some kind of SRS) and also immersing in the language is the necessary combination for true fluency.
