I would add Vogue's Jill, Ideal's Miss Revlon, Sailor Moon (more popular in Canada though, I think), and the Spice Girls (we definitely played with those things a lot).

I would put the 50s ones in maybe tier 4 or 5, and the other two in maybe 5 or 6 since they seem forgotten.

Oh, and Jamila! The Saudi Arabian doll. Probably in the bottom tier.

This was great. I'm pretty new to the concept of doll collecting, and I saw so many dolls I've never heard of! I was surprised to not see the Barbie Generation Girl line mentioned, since that was a personal favorite of mine growing up. Some characters even loosely inspiring some side characters in my book series. 😆

I didn't see Groovy Girls on here. Were they not considered fashion dolls? They were fabric dolls from Manhattan Toy company in the 2000s.

Hi there! Past Bratz Doll enthusiast/owner (from ages 7 to 12 years old in the early 2000's), as well as an ex Barbie dolls, My Scene dolls, Flava dolls, Polly Pocket dolls owner, as well as a few others, but more importantly - MILLENIAL, here! I owned many of the dolls mentioned in this video growing up, sadly all were donated by the time I was in my teens (r.i.p. to the ENTIRE Bratz Rock Angels collection I owned, and the cool color changing Barbie collection). But I noticed something mentioned here in this video that I must address.
I am a little less than 2 years away from being 30, and I definitely, vividly, remember the very annoying Betty Spaghetti commercials. I never owned any betty dolls, and never wanted to, but I know for a fact they were oddly popular despite how annoying the commercials for her were. I have a younger sister who is gen Z and she also remembers Betty Spaghetti and says she had friends that had Betty Spaghetti dolls. So I would assume it's safe to say that if theres any group of people telling you that they just "can't remember Betty Spaghetti" they either didn't have a TV, didn't have a TV with cartoon/kids stations/channels on it, OR they are most likely born after the 90's, cause thats the ONLY way I could imagine someone not knowing about that doll. The commercials ran almost daily, and this went on throughout the 2000's all the way up until I was in at least Jr. High, as they "re-vamped" her a few times.

I have a Cherry Merry Muffin :3 Got it from my uncle in the early nineties. I would also include the Paola Reina dolls in this iceberg, as well as the Gorjuss dolls. There's also a very cute line of tiny half-porcelain dolls dressed in Polish folk clothes made by de Agostini (there were also dolls wearing various other types of folk/historical fashion, Slavic in general or from other cultures, or even of real historical figures) and they are super cute. I don't know which tier they all belong to though. Somewhere in the middle, I think.

I was waiting to see The Gurlz dolls. My little sister and I had three of them, but the one I remember best is Franika. They were alien-themed dolls that had battery features, and they reminded me of Betty Spaghetti! Does anyone else remember these?

My collection's lowest level doll: three Yue Sai Wa Wa versions. She's the height of a Tall Fashionista, and her clothes were very well made.

We also got some Candi dolls as Bettie Page.

Turns out, a dried out marshmallow. The chocolate was worse than dollar store advent calendar chocolates too.

MY TWINN!!! For the longest time I have been trying to track down this brand! I remember getting the catalog in the mail as a child and wanting one SO bad, but as I recall, they were very expensive. Understandable, considering their bespoke nature, but a huge disappoint for 10-year-old me.

Fantastic video, by the way. What a great deep dive into all of these long-forgotten doll lines!

GOSH Lori dolls. I always thought they were some weird discount knockoff of an actually good small doll brand sold somewhere. A bookstore I used to work at had a HUGE selection of them and they were the most annoying thing ever. Their packaging sucked so hard that it couldn't be hung or be shelved, the boxes straight up fell apart, and the dolls just looked so cheap... The only thing they had going for them was the insane amount of outfits and accessories they had. Never saw a single one sold tbh even when they were on crazy markdown.

Do Pinypon Dolls count as fashiosn dolls? They are from Spain and I LOVED them as a kid, I still have them on display. They are similar to Chixos, you can interchange their hair, face, top and bottom. They begun as all plastic, but overtime got some fabric items and a line with what i think was nylon or poly hair. I remember the playsets were AMAZING, and I believe they are still being produced. I'm from Latin America, they might be marketed towards hispanic countries only, which would be sad cause they're very cute. Also you can spin their head to change their faces like Legos :D

no Hot Toys, or other scaled realism 'dolls'? or is it because they are too realistic to be included as dolls? despite having removable fabric clothing.
