IS THE "ENTRY LEVEL" BIKE DEAD? 2021 SPECIALIZED TARMAC SL6 ($2500) TOO MUCH MONEY FOR TIAGRA?

what are your thoughts on this entry level price tag for a shimano tiagra 10 speed group for $2500?!?!?!

Would it be a good idea to buy this 9R frame and strip it of all its basic components to put some R8170 Ultegra Di2 with carbon wheels and all carbon components? I mean, will the 9R frame feel that bad?

Tiagra is fine if you are not racing or a little more than a casual cyclist. I believe Tiagra has more plastic pieces in its design making it less durable.

I got a trek emonda SLR full ultegra with upgraded bontrager carbon wheels for less than this, 1 year old but million times better 👌

I rode a practice (and my first) crit on my $10,000 S-Works Roubaix and it was a white knuckle feeling and promised myself I would NEVER do it again. I would buy this bike in its present configuration to get my feet wet in the sport and then slowly upgrade from there if I was going to stick with crits. First with Zipp 303s carbon wheels and then with a Shimano 105 grupo which is the only thing missing to make this bike the perfect buy. Man, did Specialized barely miss on a best seller by going Tiagra!!

I feel like the bike industry is either you buy the base model
Or you buy a grand tour ready bike

bad time to be getting into cycling I guess but whatever. I put a deposit on this exact bike I was able to find in stock at a shop by me. Everything seems to be out of stock around me lol. I had a guy say some carbon wheels on this would be a good upgrade at first as the tiagra isnt all that bad. Guess we'll see! Cheers

I'm curious about the spacer on top of stem things. do we really need to put 5mm spacer on top of the stem ?

It’s not dead . The specialized entry level bike has no place in the market because it’s overpriced for what you can get with her brands.

Canyon Endurance CF SL DISC 7.0 is a better deal. Slightly lighter and Shimano 105 components for $2400.

19lbs for a $2500 carbon fiber bike seems pretty heavy. I have a 2013 aluminum canondale caad 10 SRAM force that is same size as this bike and I weighed it at 18.5lbs with pedals attached.

Price make no sense, Tiagra and not carbon frame, c’mon!

Entry level, huh. Overpriced over weight and under specced. I am sick of Specialized,they are mega greedy, they have been getting worse over the years. I Have had many Specialized Road and off Road Mtd Bikes. All needing immediate upgrading at my price points. 🤬🤬🤬

For 2500$ you can get a Canyon, full carbon equipped with Ultegra or a BMC TeamMachine. And for 2500$ the Sprint Allez would be the better choice...i guess!

It's crazy to even think that an aluminum framed 2017 Bianchi Impulso shimano 105 equipped bike, which retailed for for $1700 at the time, with cages and pedals weighs 20.2lbs on the scale and this is 19ish lbs with no cages and pedals for a carbon frame! 0______0

Decathlon's Triban has 105 and of course it is not carbon fiber but still this bike should have 105.

In 2014 I was able to get a 2013 Trek Madone 4.5 as a last seasons model from a shop for like $2300, it came with 105 brakes and cassette, Ultegra Shifters and Derailleurs. It’s a 10 Speed, rim brake, with mostly external routing, but it’s full carbon and rides like a beast

Do you think bikes will ever go down in price? Saving for a SL7 S-works frameset which has gone up £500. They might just be available again by the time i get enough together, as they're going up faster than i can save at the minute.

Hi, Are you in Miami FL? I own one special bike ( only 100 worldwide ) and so far only 1 I think here in Miami ( mine ) The Di2 cables are rattling inside the frame! DRIVING ME NUTS! If you can fix that for me u welcome to review it lol.

$2500, entry level price, tiagra. Those words aren’t agreeing with each other, my friend! That’s why I stick with aluminum. The allez elite has 105 at $1500! I wanna also point out the allez sprint is $2200 with a better frame and fork than her more budget friendly sisters.

Entry level bike seem to be getting more expensive with less value for the money and heavier it would be good if they sold it as a frame set on its own.
