I'M REPLACING MY PLAYSTATION 5 WITH A USED PS4 PRO! ~ BUT WHY?

Even with the news today for the PS5 Slim, with no price drop - it's even more expensive!, a PS4 Pro with a SSD is still compelling. Still looks stunning, runs well enough for sure w/ both performance and 4K options, plus for 1080p TV owners there's no point for a PS5 really.

bought a ps5 the other day. Still don't see a slim, and I was tired of game speed/load times.

I bought the disc version for $760.00CAD after tax.

Diablo 2 LOD load times don't take 5 hours, and mid to late game stellaris play much better.

Fuck the graphics, ps5 is worth it for load times alone.

Bought a ps4 pro with 1TB SSD $290 CAD literally identical to a ps5

Have a ps4 and xb1 the download times and games are HUGE many games are 75 gb or even more. That's a lot of data. I still play ps3 and xbox 360 games as well because they don't eat up your bandwidth. Still so many great games on all these platforms.

I'm still fairly disappointed with the ps5 so far honestly. Why?

Almost nothing is exclusive to it at this point. Games are still like 90% cross gen and held back as such.

The new controller gimmicks (You don't have to agree but i find them to be gimmicks) combined with an insanely stupidly short battery life..im not by any means loving The dualsense,i stilll prefer the Dual shock.

Sonys first party output has been very...very slow this generation so far as of yet,and the future roadmap (of what we know) is really empty honestly .


Truthfully i wish i waited,90% of what i play on PlayStation is still PS4 games i never got around to finishing.

As somebody who plays on a pc, I also have a ps3 and a ps4. IMO ps5 and Xbox series X simply just aren’t there yet to be worth the price. Aside from game availability as new games come out I actually still favor the ps3 and here’s why. Ray tracing is great but there’s not much for ray tracing in terms of console games yet. Secondly, unless you are playing on a huge tv then 4k isn’t even worth spending money on. In fact on anything 32” or smaller you will have a hard time even seeing a difference in anything beyond 1080p. Once you go down to say 24” that diminished return starts at 720p. I can’t justify spending money on features that aren’t even going to be noticeable.

I did this. I’ve got a PS5 but I am currently playing a white PS4 Pro with a quality ssd. No particular reason. PS5 is better from a performance perspective. But…. I don’t like the look of the PS5 much. I do like the PS4 Pro very much from a aesthetic perspective. And I enjoy upgrading consoles to see if I can get better performance out of them. Bottom line is I enjoy playing the PS4 Pro more and the performance dropoff from PS5 is something I can live with.

Truthfully, most of my gaming time is spent with my PS3 & Xbox 360. I still spend more time with them than I do any more recent console.

I upgraded to a Wii U. Love it.

Here I am in Aug 2023 watching this still perfectly happy with my ps4 and no desire to upgrade yet because it's still getting new AAA titles.

I think the PlayStation 4 era it’s about to end. All the good games will come only on ps5, so I don’t see the reason to keep my ps4 pro.

Sir for as a game enthusiasts, I will collect at least 4 powerful console like ps4 pro ps5 ps6 coming soon , and xbox series x

The memories are far more better than specs.
Besides, most of playstation’s exclusives (besides littlebigplanet) are hot garbage.
The ps4 is also customizable, UNLIKE the ps5.
Also i doh’t play graphically demanding games. I mainly play TerraTech, Stick Fight, Terraria, Minecraft, a hat in time, ShellShock Live, Spiderheck,
The PS4 menus are better, too.

Memories are more important than specs and i’ll use my ps4 untill it isn’t supported anymore. I do have a ps5 but i don’t use it.
