so i’m new to modding minecraft, after every update do i have to reinstall my mods shaders and texture packs?

I NEED HELP!!! I've downloaded shaders and they work great but as soon as I try to play with my controller I have to choose either one or the other... Does someone know how I could have both shaders and controller use at the same time in game? Thanks!
