GTX 1660 Ti vs RTX 3060 | Test In 10 Games | 1080p

I've had my 1660Ti for years and only recently, while playing Valhalla, had to lower some settings. But I'm looking to upgrade for my new build if anyone has suggestions...

I have a 165hz monitor, so I'd rather buy a rtx 3060 that can pull off 165 Hz on medium settings, than buy a 1660ti that can only pull ~100fps

Unfortunately in my case having the same processor, DS3H motherboard and 500w power supply, running cod all at the minimum the temperature comes close to 80° and other games too, I don't understand what the problem is.

the gpu temps on the 1660 ti is higher than 3060, but the cpu is alot cooler on the 1660 ti rig

If you notice the clock speeds on the 1660 ti they are stock settings, well both are. But the ti version are easier to overclock. I have my 1660 ti core clocked at 2025 and my memory clocked at 7500. Basically being the same as the 3060 speeds. So overclocked it should run very similar to the 3060, I don't have those games but I'm tempted to download one or two to test out my theory

You can see in most demanding games 1660ti has 45fps average while 3060 has 60fps and that is the biggest difference in my opinion. If you want smooth gameplay on ultra settings you have to pay more and get 3060 but if you are okay with lowering some settings like Shadows quality you can also get nice 60 fps gaming from 1660ti.

honestly for a ton of extra money i dont think getting 170 fps instead of 100 fps is worth it, I mean my display is 144hz which is nice of course but as long as its qbove 60 i'm happy lol

its the new budget king because of all the gpu cant be bought at a decent price. i got my dell oem 1660ti for 175 and weird little beast. it can over clock to 1950 and keep at a decent mid 70c

As a 3 year GTX1660ti owner, i can say this card is absolutely amazing! I currently play on 1080p with mixed high and ultra settings on almost any modern/new AAA game (warzone, fortnite, battlefield 2042..etc etc) and still get 80-90 fps.. its amazing! if i just stick with high/medium i can get up to 110-140fps depending the game..overall I don’t see me upgrading any time soon as this card meets every standard I need to play smoothly..I play with 32gbs RAM and a Ryzen 5 3600! I recommend skipping the 20 series due to the new 30 series.. but it is hard to acquire one :/ if you ever have to choose a 20 series card get a 2070 super or 2080 as these cards handle 2k or 4k…i believe the 1660ti is almost the same as a 2060 except for the ray tracing.. yall have fun :)
