I couldn't care less about how the algorithm works, I was hoping for some code insights for Scala... Now I do have to read the code myself.
ОтветитьSo this is why we all get SILOED... I don't understand why you can no longer look at Twitter w/o being logged in. Why did Elon do that? IMHO
Ответитьyou are only 28?
ОтветитьProbably someone has told this before but you resemble a lot to Adam Paul Scott (actor)
Ответить1,000,000 is actually more correct than 15k. The doc states 'hundreds of millions'
Ответитьsurprisingly unsurprising
ОтветитьId love to see a walkthrough of their code. Does anyone know if this exists?
Ответитьwhat name of board where he draw
Ответитьyou didn't explain shit, I want those algorithm names listed, at this point you're just explaining it as if ure just guessing, no dude, read the repo, list the algorithms, say what each of them does, pointless video.
ОтветитьThis video lacks many details found by others. Had to watch at x2 speed as there's a lot of time wasted on making graphs.
ОтветитьHappy Birthday, Theo!
but isn't better that if the last step was first?
why get the data if it's later will be filtred by i like them or not or if it was blocked!
imagine i m a user that i was blocked by everyone
at the end i must get nothing!
so why go throught the process and rank everything or smothing!
to later delete them cause i m blocked!
i hope that makes sense but this about the alogrithm bugs me so mush 🤣
I get a lot of shemale porn what's up with that?
ОтветитьHappy birthday!
ОтветитьMy gripe with these recommendation algorithms is that they can only build from the past. I really hate being in bubbles. How can they tell what will I be interested in? I don’t even know it myself! The criteria they use is shallow.
ОтветитьDo u really think they will make "Secret" code public. Ofcourse not. They only made certain code public which is not biased.
Ответитьtwitter is generally broken the more accounts you follow. instead of showing new tweets from people you follow, it just breaks down and keeps showing the same irralvent tweets from random accounts.home page is too anoying to use. no amount of scrolling will show new tweets from followed accounts.
ОтветитьThis seems like a distraction, though. The main thing people want to know is how they filter for spam and disinfo, not just “filter misinfo here” or “score for spam here”. The actual keywords and phrases they’re using to mark posts as disinfo and spam is what’s important, not at what stage they do it. Seems like that’s still black-boxed, so how could anyone call it “open source”? Unless I missed something, they glossed over those specifics and threw the rest out there as a shiny object for people to “ooh” over. You didn’t seem to mention any of that either. If I just missed something, can you address that?
ОтветитьThis was a fantastic breakdown Theodoro
ОтветитьWhy preference filter so late tho?
Ответитьwhat is the tool you are using to draw?
ОтветитьWhat app is he using to paint ?
ОтветитьWhat font do you use? I love it
Ответитьa
ОтветитьWhat are you detailing if they didn't provide the search algorithm? Do you mean like literally an input search from the user, because what you outline in the video is what I thought you meant but you literally say they didn't provide this information, so I'm confused...???
ОтветитьYou missed the part where they apply the "agree with Twitter's political biases" filter, and the "do the government's bidding" filter. Yes, that is the case. It has been documented. And since you mention you're not that interested in Scala I have to wonder if you actually read the code, or just an article about the code.
Ответитьyou look 39
ОтветитьHappy Birthday, Theo! Can you tell us what program do you use to draw on the monitor ?
ОтветитьI really want to know how to build and debug this poject~~~
ОтветитьWelcome to the club fellow 4/1995
Ответитьhappy birthday theo 😅🙏
ОтветитьHappy Birthday Bro 🎉
ОтветитьThe third step is where the danger happens.
Ответитьwhat app or website is this?
ОтветитьExcalidraw ❤
ОтветитьYou missed the 'is_elon' multiplier
Ответитьpretty standard
Ответитьthat multiplier score is quite interesting
ОтветитьIt would be interesting to look back in time through the commit log, if it is preserved
Ответитьthe this is more funny is when you pay, apparently you involuntary pay to hear more Elon tweets
.
You mean you read Twitter’s blog post
ОтветитьHappy Birthday Theo! Anybody has any idea what software he uses for the drawings?
Ответитьyou were born in first April 1995 and I was born in 30 April 1995 xD
ОтветитьKey point here is that while it may not explicitly supress content, it's [over] simplicity, doesn't exactly lend itself well to a world of nuance where there may be factors the engineers have not accounted for; like how much of a scumbag a particular advertiser is, or how rare a particular voice or viewpoint is.
I Found it interesting that the score balancing is conflated with filtering. Filtering, the act of removing people you blocked or muted; should be fairly simple for all but celebrities, who I imagine don't, or shouldn't use a blocklist, but rather an approved list of accounts. The fact this "the algorithm" has so little nuance really does support the firing of so many employees.
HBD! Very helpful breakdown, thank you Theo
ОтветитьNo, most do not operate like that. there is a reason why they need to hide it. And its not exploiting the algo cause they could handle that while still keeping the source code of the algo open
Ответитьcongratez on turning 28 bro, stay awesome
ОтветитьHappy birthday Theo! 🎉
ОтветитьBelated Happy Birthday man
ОтветитьHappy Birthday Theo! 🎉
Your videos helped me become a more well rounded developer over the last two years i have been following you, so thanks for making these videos.
