little sidenote for building: make sure you upgrade and build from the inside towards the outside. if you stand like a baffoon on the outside you place your walls facing the wrong way.

as for essential items I am really missing sleeping bags! Imo those are like way more important than any weapon or gear. since those sleeping bags makes you able to farm certain monuments naked. getting lucky with boxes and crates. to speed you up faster. I remember my 1st few tries at a server. I was most annoyed spawning in random spots at the beach not being able to reach my body. not understanding rads or cold or heat or knowing what npc's I could and couldn't take on. the sleeping bag makes the whole experience way better. I did figure out how to make the bag that day. but I couldn't get the 30 cloth so that was about 6hours of pain. I managed to farm about 25-29 most of the time then die before getting that bag.

This video is surprisingly confusing if you think you are watching an introduction to rust programming. I thought the first 35 seconds was the creator stuck in some kind of programming metaphor.

I was walking around with 200 scrap and a few good weapons in my inventory within the first few hours because I was lucky, but I haven’t built a base yet so I got shot by a crossbow and died 🥲
