Garmin Forerunner 265/265S: Beginners Guide (Start Here!)

What really struck me which not many reviews noted is the light weight! Coming from a bulkier, heavy (and old) Suunto, I was nervous about this watch being worn ‘always on’ but I’m pleasantly surprised as to how light and comfortable it is!

Which good V02 Max Garmin watch would you recommend without all extras like music, phone, flashlight.... Thanks!

If I hold UP, above the setting me it shows me LiveTrack, Watch Face, Clocks and History. Is there a way to customise/remove these? Any idea why they’re there?

Hi there! Thank you for this very detailed video about the Garmin 265's features! It is very helpful. I am considering getting this watch and was wondering if you could clarify something about the music storage. Can I transfer podcasts from any podcast platform I use? For instance, if I download podcasts using Google Podcasts, can I transfer those to the watch and listen phone-free on a run? Or does it have to be from Spotify (and do I have to have a Spotify Premium account)? And a follow up question to the music feature is: Can you rewind and fast forward a podcast (like 10 seconds or so) directly from the watch? The answer to these questions would be extremely helpful! Thanks for the great video as always. I wish I've watched your galaxy watch 6 classic review before I bought that piece of crap. That's the worst purchase I ever made and intend to sell it even at a loss. After watching this video I just ordered the FR265 and it should be here early next week. At this stage of the times, would you still recommend the Garmin Forerunner 255?

I can’t get Spotify to load onto my Forerunner 265S. It keeps saying I need to link to Garmin EXPRESS. From what I understand that’s a desktop application

So what is expected life time of this kind of watches you think ?

I had 2.

Forerunner 945. After almost 2 years the watch crashed and didnt start up anymore. Had a refurbished one back.

Epix 2. After 1,5 years heartbeat sensor didnt sork well anymore. Had a full refund.

So though i am happy with the service, isnt it a bit too soon to have these issues? Was it bad luck?

As far as tracking the metrics particular to a sport, I have to laugh each time I activate Yoga on my 265S and it says "Pose 1" like it expects me to push a button each time I move into a new pose. Yeah, uh, no.

Now... how hard is for garmin to make the venu3 looks with the forerunner265 software inside? Why would they have to segment out people who wants the sleek looks with the fitness features inside?!

What about the sleep tracking? I heard it’s pretty bad!

Hi, I need some help regarding the lactate threshold. Will the lactate threshold automatically be detected without using the chest strap? From what I see from yours the lactate threshold is suggested and together with the pace. I'm using the Forerunner 265 but never get the lactate threshold suggestions and am stuck at the manual update. Kindly assist.

I think your videos are very entertaining and informative. I have watched your FR265 vs Venu 3 video, but I am still torn between the FR265 and the Venu 3. I don't need the call features of the Venu 3 and like the metrics of the FR265. I am not a big runner, but want to track my health and fitness. I'm leaning towards the FR265. Is there another Garmin option I should consider?

The recording line on the map on this watch is exceptionally good. Did you use the "Smart" or "Every second" for data recording? System - data recording - Smart or Every second.

My forerunner kept turning off when charging and I couldn't find any info anywhere on internet specific about the 265 but I found similar issue where the problem was with the charger not delivering enough power to the watch.
So, I switch from charging the watch on my laptop USB-C port to use a samsung charger and the watch never shut off while charging. So, I'm leaving this comment here in case someone face similar issue where your brand new forerunner 265 watch shuts off when charging. Just change your charger or the charger cable.

Just upgraded to the 265. All the stock pictures online and include the box it comes in shows the watch with a yellow accent color fading to orange/red. I've scrolled through the accent colors and don't see that one. Does it actually exist?

Is it possible to change the watch face from dark mode to light mode? I turned the brightness all the way up, but that does not help. I really need light mode.

Just got this the other day my first watch normally use strava on iphone.
its a good watch but the pacing is so off from my phone, the watch showing like 15-20 seconds slower per mile.

just got my 265,someone below mention that with 265 you get usb-c port instead of usb-a to charge it,sou you need USB C Female to USB A Male to charge it.

Your revews are always so good...both video and written. I realize you are a bike-run-swim person, but it would really great if someone somewhere would mention whether these watches give stroke data with indoor rowing machines (basic machines with just a simple lcd and no outside connecrions). For some reason this information is almost imposible to find, even in the online manufacturer manuals; on water rowing is easy to find, but indoor...not so much. Indoor rowing is such a simple motion, it should be easy to add to the watches...

Excellent video! I have a question if you have a minute... I'm a long time Pebble user (8+ years) still using a Time Steel. I bought and returned a Venu 2 Plus last year because it just didn't feel like an upgrade over my Pebble for the price and while I loved the vibrant display, I didn't love navigating the watch via the screen. This Forerunner feels like it might be a little more to my liking with the physical buttons/button shortcuts/touch screen hybrid, however I really don't plan on using the fitness features beyond an occasional walk or run.

So long story short, how do you think the 265s (I have small wrists) would be for a more casual user that just wants standard smartwatch stuff (notifications, sleep tracking, alarms, step counting, etc...) and can't handle the short battery life of Wear OS? Is it overkill? Will I miss my Pebble? Thanks and I really enjoy your videos!

I just ordered this watch after my Galaxy Forester literally died on me during a trip w/ our youth. This thing supports better battery life, better water resistance, & way more Health options than my old watch provided. Question for recovery time:
I do split training. So i train every workday. And i also have Tennis Practice. So recoverytime is useless for me, right? I mean, it still sticks to 48 hours pause, or do i have a misunderstanding?

If someone is in the market for a sports watch, which is a good buy between 265 and 255 Music ? Assume marathon and hiking are two prime use cases here.

Thanks for the video. I find the Bluetooth headphone connection a bit disappointing. It works fine indoor but connection is far from ideal in outdoor scenarios.
